When we got up there we got a bit of a fright because the lanes were miniature! And so were the bowling balls! But after we got going I think we all actually enjoyed it more than regular bowling! You can really biff those tiny bowling balls and holy crap is it fun! I also had a great time because I won! I even bet all the boys, girl power! I will definitely be coming back here sometime soon!

However, when I came to Metrolanes on a work nigh out recently, I couldn't help but enjoy myself. They put on a real party atmosphere here with loud music, funky lighting, cheap burgers and a happy hour on drinks from 5-6.30. My favourite thing though, was the deck outside. It's got a great view over Aotea Square and is just great to enjoy a burger and a beer before your bowl and watch the sun go down. Overall, it's a really great place. The prices were pretty standard and the staff really friendly. They even sell socks for $4 if you (like me) forget to bring some to wear with your bowling shoes.

First of all the lifts there smell like smoke, I can't imagine anyone smoking in a lift so I will leave the stench to the patrons of the bowling alley. Whatever the cause of the smell is, the owners of the place should make an effort to at least do a clean up once every week . Secondly the bowling shoes are rather old and smelly, once again cleaning and buying new shoes in something the owners should look into. Thirdly this place is dark and dingy. I wouldn't be surpr if any dubious happenings took place! Last but not least it is not a mistake if your bowl and then the cones don't come down. Seems like everything doesn't work or is just old.

It can be kind of fun. There are pool tables and arcade games and sometimes the dodgems are going - you can play laser strike whilst riding those electric cars. I want to say 'drive by' but it doesn't seem appropriate - you get what I mean. Go up there with a group, forget about the germs, have a good time, have a few drinks and you'll be right as rain.

It's An absolute shit hole, there were empty alcohol bottles, we were completely ignored by the one staff member who didn't look up from her phone, they even had a single song playing on repeat and it was more expensive than xtreme entertainment which is just around the corner and is a fantastic venue I cannot fault.

What I don't like about Manukau Tenpin is that the lanes are pretty narrow, it just really irks me. It takes a couple of tries for me before I get used to the lanes here. I suppose I've forgiven them for this since you can play two games for the price of one ($12 for an adult, which is an amazing price), so it's super handy if you're battling your friends for bowling supremacy. They cater pretty well for groups here and they've always got quite a few staff on, so you always get your food quickly and lane troubles are usually solved in a few short minutes. I'd suggest booking ahead on weekends, because you never know when its going to be packed here, so avoid disappointment. A good addition to the area and a great price to have some fun with friends and family.

We had such fun with them, even though they're a little older they so haven't lost their childish sense of humour. But you'd think they would try to offer something on their menu that didn't come from a frozen box. The bowling lanes are fine - they block every now and then and the gutters play up- but they work and are reasonably priced. They have a jukebox that plays the videos above the lanes - which is great if you like Ariana Grande dancing across your tenpins while you're trying to land a strike. The carpet glows in the dark which makes for easy fun with the kids if you're waiting. Which brings me to the main problem. The wait. We showed up on an easy going Thursday night around 7pm to be told a lane wouldn't be ready until 10pm for our group. Understandably we needed 2 lanes, but even when we dropped the numbers for one lane- we were advised "we should have booked ahead". Moral of the story - don't do drop bys here, they're 'popular' and probably wont be able to accommodate your spontaneity. We went across the road to Paradice Ice Skating instead.

On Thursdays they do half price bowling, an awesome date night option or something fun to do after work with mates. There's an arcade aswell with a few staples such as Tekken and Time Crisis and a number of pool tables. The bar also does good deals on drinks and a Happy Hour- they even bring them to your bowling lane! They also have a selection of snacks you can order for the kids or to accompany that drinks of yours. I can't wait for this place to re-open looking bigger and even better. A great place for all ages!
