Had a membership for a couple of months and realized why am I being charged 45 dollars a month for a gym that is absolutely filthy,some machines inoperable,some of the padding on the machines isn't fixed when damaged but repaired with duct tape,the bathrooms have no locks or doorknobs and has one toilet in there it is disgusting like where does the money go when we pay memberships?.Great lifts but won't ever renew a membership here.Only perk is the 24 hours read more

A gym that actually feels like a gym. Green Flag 1. Bay Doors Green Flag 2. Lots of Heavy Metal (literally & musically) This is a gym that is actually meant for exercising. It's definitely not Club-Med. There are plenty of weights & machines that will develop every muscle group in your body. There are cardio machines too, just not the yuppie bikes with HD TVs and AC vents etc. The staff is great, all very knowledgeable and friendly. Don't be scared off by the "Hardcore" logo. Nobody is going to roundhouse kick you in the face or anything, they are just folks that are serious about lifting weights. read more

The good: Serious environment for serious training. Decent bars, heavy dumbbells, old school machines (including the Nautilus pullover), plenty of plates. Open doors to the outside so in the summer you get the benefits of training in brutal heat. Loud rap music. IFBB pro bodybuilder and crew benching 500 for reps. Nobody looks at you like a circus freak when you lift heavy. The bad: Hardcore here means rusted out and nasty. I've been to other Metroflex gyms and they are not run like this. I've been to the other two local hardcore gyms and they're not run this way either. They offer very reasonably priced training services but seem to cater specifically to bodybuilders, so for a lot of folks it's not very exciting. The ugly: This place claims to cater to strongmen, bodybuilders, and powerlifters alike, but really it's just a bodybuilder gym. There's nothing wrong with that, but claiming to be more than a bodybuilder gym is lame. If you're a strongman, they have tires. They do not have logs, stones, axles, circus dumbbells, etc. If you're a powerlifter, they have a couple of racks and a safety squat bar in addition to regular barbells. They do not have bands and pegs, chains, fat gripz or fat bars, specialty bench press bars. In the end, this is still a better training environment than any of the 24 hour gyms int he area, but if it's possible for you to go to one of the other "hardcore" area gyms, you'd be well advised to do so. read more

Don't let the "HARDCORE" scare you, it just means that the staff and members are serious about reaching their goals. Be warned, this is a serious gym! With that said, the people are great and not judgemental at all! I went here for a push and pull meet a few weeks ago. I fell in love with the atmosphere immediately. I was really impressed with the equipment and the people were real people that were serious about thier goals. Everywhere you looked, there were people (men and women) eating out of tupperwares and working out. The meet itself was really cool and the contestants were real competitors. The price is solid too, I believe $35 a month with no contract. That's less than I pay at Gold's, and it's a 24 hour facility. The ability to go into a gym like this with a key fob any time you want is pretty awesome to me. I met the owners also, very cool people! They were at the meet just hanging out and talking to everyone. They were very down to earth people and invested in making people their best. I would definitely recoomend them if you are in the Round Rock area, or if you are a serious bodybuilder and willing to commute up. It's definitely worth the drive. read more

First off, I am a natural bodybuilder and was so impressed with the Metroflex gym in Long Beach during my business trips out to California, that I looked for a Metroflex gym in Austin, TX on my last business trip which was about two weeks out from my most recent Bodybuilding show. Yes, in this gym you can find all of us seriously shredded and freakishly big twisted steel looking mofo's, but I could have saved my money for a day pass elsewhere. The bad. The gym is a tiny warehouse type building with weights and machines that were below average in maintenance, organization, and cleanliness. Not as if any of the regulars, employees, or owners care, but I will be looking into gyms elsewhere in the area if I ever have to go back to Austin. read more

Pretty cool gym. Moving to that area possibly and wanted to try the gym out so I purchased a day pass. $10 is a good price. Liked the old style equipment and variety. If you do not like filthy gyms this gym isn't for you. I usually don't mind but this place was really dusty and dirty. Not a deal break for me really but, this gym isn't big enough so I'll most like not join but, pretty cool experience. read more

Metroflex is located in a warehouse in a part of Pflugerville that has mostly light industrial firms such as electrical contractors. It's pretty easy to find and they have signs out front. It opened just a few months ago. This is definitely a place for serious weight lifting. The music is loud but that's great because it encourages folks to actually put away the iPod and say a quick hello to one another between sets. The weight plates are old skool iron and activities like deadlifting and squat walkouts into the parking lot are welcome. No, you can't take the weights home with you, I meant into the parking lot and then bring 'em back to their home! :-) By the way, there's no A/C so it's hot in the summer. Don't wear new clothes!! I can pretty much guarantee a good endorphin experience (and likely some soreness the next day) from lifting here since being in this community will cause you to challenge yourself. The benches and racks are real heavy-duty. The machines are old skool i.e. they're not new. This is definitely a place to work out with the free weights and then finish up with the machines. On the gym floor there's a cooler to fill your water bottle from but not a drinking fountain so don't forget your water bottle! Women are welcome and in fact a Pro Fitness competitor works out here. Those who want to take the fight against gravity to the next level and compete in powerlifting or a physique contest can find the appropriate training and diet advice here, which is very different from the newbie-oriented personal training you'd find at a chain gym. But there's no pressure whatsoever to hire a trainer - most folks plan their own workouts. One time I opened a door on the gym floor that said "women" because I thought it was the door to the, um, running water facilities. It turned out to be a room to practice posing, figure contest turns etc. (There's one for men as well). The actual running water facilities are located near the lounge but don't expect a sauna or fancy towel service!! There's a lounge with muscle mags and a microwave so feel free to bring food for after your workout. Membership is month-to-month with NO CONTRACTS which is great!!!! And it's affordable - $30/month. They also sell clothes from several pretty cool makers as well as Animal Pak, whey etc.up by the front desk. I think they have House of Pain and Swoll-Up clothes and maybe a couple others. There's no child care so I wouldn't bring the kiddies here. 45-lb plates, gravity and little kiddie toes aren't a good mix! There's no zumba or spin or those sort of classes - this is a weight room! If you're fairly new to weight lifting there are plenty of people around who can help with questions about form or help you figure out how much weight to use to actually challenge the muscles while staying safe from injury. (A common newbie mistake is not using enough weight). I tried a 7-day pass but I'm thinking about joining even though I'm already a member of another gym. read more

No rules about making noise when you're working out; actually they encourage hardcore training. Everyone working out there has a purpose; from body building to competition fighters. Solid facility, if you have common sense and understand the basic needs of programing a lifting regimen, this gym offers everything you need. Have you ever been so dedicated to your goals that you drove to the gym christmas morning to lift before your family wakes up only to find your big box 24 hour facility is closed, then have a full blown panic attack because you're one scoop away from stroking out on your favorite pre-work out? 24/7/365 access is a huge plus, no contract reasonable membership cost is another big plus, a facility i dont have to hide my tupperware full of chalk, a facility that plays loud music, a facility that wont threaten to kick you out for dropping weights, a facility full of like-minded dedicated individuals that aren't spending more time taking selfies than actually lifting. This gym would get 5 stars, but i lift during overnight hours and the music is the same thing, every night. Mainstream hiphop/rap that can be heard on any radio station. Try to mix it up. read more
