We purchased a used tire on 12/28/2023 and we have had to put air in tires both morning and night so it doesn't go flat. The tire has a hole in it or it is leaking because they didn't mount the tire correctly. Going to go buy a nother tire tomorrow. So to start this off... I am the daughter of a mechanic.. My father and I work on our own cars for the most part.. except for tires... we dont have that equipment to fix holes in tires. I came in with my boyfriend with a nail in my tire and they immediately wanted to talk to my boyfriend instead of me (he has no iota of clue about cars) and I tried to ask if they could use a torque wrench (they shut me down and kept talking to my boyfriend) because it makes it ALOT harder to loosen a lug nut as a female if its been tightened by a power drill. They claimed they could, but made it seem sketchy.. they take my tire off and claimed it was an issue taking it off and made it like my year old lug nuts were stripped. So I stayed by it the entire time after that claim.. and I guess I had the audacity to say they weren't doing it right.. and at that point I said stop and I want a refund and to just put the 3 lugnuts taken off back on... he did two and started saying the 3rd was a problem. I told them to stop and give me the power drill and Ill finish it so I can leave. As he handed me the drill he is talking to another employee talkign about "Ive been doing this for 35 years.. its not going to work" I hand started the lug nut and IMMEDIATELY drilled the lug nut on. They are fucking scammers. LUG NUTS SHOULD MOT BE POWER DRILLED. they are supposed to torque wrenched. They also tried to tell me to "OPEN MY TRUNK TO GET THE "TORQUE WRENCH"" Because "They dont have hand wrenchs" According to them they only use power tools. Which asking me to open my trunk to get the torque wrench means they obviously dont know what a torque wrench even is. I am so unbelievably blown after coming here. DO NOT USE THIS PLACE. They cross threaded my lug. I went back to the shop and the owner was extremely rude! She had the installer cut my lug in half and said "problem solved". When I told her that I'd need to have a new lug put on she told me I was disrespectful. She told me to go buy a lug and bring it to her and she would knock $20 off my price because it's "no big deal". She smirked at me and said "do is there going to be a problem". I told her that she was extremely unprofessional and disrespectful to paying customers and she leaned back in her chair and said "oh well, you go buy the lug and I'll have my guy put it on". When I said no that the same person she's trying to have fix the issue caused it if putting on a tire was something he screwed up I wasn't comfortable with him taking my job off and replacing parts she told me "it's life get over it. Enter thee Metro Tires, completely sketchy McSketcherson on the outside, with a plethora of tires and a small dimly lit "waiting area." However what I found is that staff is pretty helpful in a bind, and a tire check isn't too unreasonable. I hope I never have to come back here, as I would prefer the streets of Bmore to be pillowy mounds of cotton....ha ha I kid! I kid! I was very impressed with this place. It looks sketchy driving by. However, the service has always been quick, friendly and done well. I've taken my car here when I had to replace a tire and my sister has also. I live nearby and was unable to drive the car to the location one time because of the flat but one of the workers happily came with me and my sister in her car with the supplies and replaced the tire on the spot. The replacement tires are $35.00 and we haven't had any issues with any of them. The workers do work for tips and they are definitely well earned. They are located on Wilkens Ave. and Pine Heights Ave. They also offer some wheel and rim repair but I think those services are limited so call first. read more

Late one Thursday evening my tire was irreparably damaged from having hit a curb. AAA placed a doughnut tire on my car and advised I have a new tire installed the next day. I had an important appt in DC the next morning & no dealer or tire store was open - except Metro Tire. When I arrived after 8pm, they evaluated the problem, found a tire in their stock that fit my car, installed it, & I was on my way that same evening - all for $50! Quick friendly service. I didn't have to get out of my vehicle which was extra points because it was freezing outside. They have adequate staff so even though I came in at the same time as another customer, I did not have to wait long for service. First you have to just pull up and park anywhere you can. Then you have to wait for the crack heads to finish arguing. If they don't have a used tire that fits your car you can go to 4 other places within 3 blocks of this spot. Came to Metro tires today and guess what?! There's a BIG nail sticking out of the tire. Got it fixed and plugged and air checked and filled in all additional tires in less than 15 minutes. I got a flat fixed for $15, which is a great price. I was happy enough with the service that I tipped the guy $5. A few days later, the car is making strange noises from the same tire, so I have my wife take the car back to Metro Tires. The guy is able to loosen two of the lugs with his hands (you're not supposed to be able to do that). There is no problem with the tire, because the problem was with the lugs that weren't tightened by Metro Tires last time. Instead of making things right for having us dangerously ride around on a loose wheel, he charges us $10 and mentions that they accept tips. Are you kidding me? My wife paid the $12 in my absence to keep the peace, but that's really bold. You want to charge another $10 to correct your mistake AND mention that you take tips? Here's a tip for you: everyone makes mistakes, but you shouldn't charge more money to fix yours, and then ask for a tip. read more

I have been going to this place for 4 years, and hadn't had many problems in the past. But here lately we have been having issues time after time. The mechanics are great, and very respectful. But the management is a joke. For only the most recent issue, they somehow sold me a tire in which went flat in two days. I went back and the woman at the desk would not even have a full conversation with us unless she could be on her phone texting and looking at Facebook. This is not how a business is suppose to be managed. And it's a shame that being a decent company is a dying reality. read more
