Two hours later , I needed to buy other things from Provigo , on the spur of the moment I took back the orchids .. to exchange them with happier healthier ones .. but forgot to take my husband's credit card ! At the cash the young man asked his supervisor Angelo what to do Even though I had the receipt which showed it was bought two hours earlier ! Angelo got all huffy and Puffy ,... saying no return without the credit card .. he was speaking so fast he did not even hear me tell me I could go back home and get the credit card ! He would not even let me talk ! Till I raised my voice saying " Listen to me " I told you I can go home get the card " .. Angelo turns his back to me .. "no I am not changing it for you today .. come back tomorrow to speak to the manager ... you screamed at me " " I am not returning it for you today ! " I am a senior ... this KID has no respect for age nor is he mature enough to be an acting manager ! I had to drag my husband "out of bed "with a bandage on his arm to go back to the store with the receipt and the credit card used to buy the flowers ! Angelo digs his feet in and still dares to refuse the refund .. "come back tomorrow " he condescendingly tells my obviously sick senior husband .. till Albert insisted to speak to the manager by phone .. only then did Angelo give in and give the refund .. after all this I put back .. the orchids I was going to buy instead ! This unpleasant exchange put a dampener on our day ! For no reason !

It was very busy, with a full parking lot but there was a enough space for people to get around in the aisles. This T&T was massive, with a wide range of fresh and frozen groceries and meats, seafoods, as well as a bakery, chinese bbq station and a variety of supplies. Everything was well-organized and the staff seemed friendly. My wife and I are visiting, we're staying at a hotel with a refrigerator and stovetop so got frozen beef, fresh mushrooms and package noodle soups that we could make for snacks. We didn't get too much because we intend to experience the local restaurants and businesses. I can't comment on how the prices normally are but it seemed like they reasonable by current U.S. standards. We used the self-check out which was straight forward.

On our first visit, my husband and I stopped by this location this past Thursday night, 7 pm. The hot bar, right by the bakery was packed. Everyone was trying to scoop up food to purchase for dinner. There really wasn't much left except fried rice and chow mein. Because we were hungry, my husband ended up choosing some dim sum (siu mai and har gow). I purchased these cute steamed character buns (because why not?). I was also so happy to find this one particular tea bag that is honestly one of the best Hong Kong style, but hard to find back at home in the US where I am from. The price at this particular location was pretty good since this item was on sale (but even at the full price, it is still cheaper than buying it back at home) and wished I had purchased all the remaining boxes to bring back home since the T&T Supermarket in Ottawa sells these at a higher price. When we came back for a second visit, it was nice to see an employee at the jian bing (Chinese crepe) station, since it was not available to be made fresh when we had visited the night before. I am not sure what the price was but kind of regret not having one made fresh for us during this second visit (this is the only supermarket that I have seen that even has this available inside a market. The Asian markets I have frequent back at home have wheel cakes made fresh for purchase though). I like that there is a large dining area in which you sit and eat your food items with a actually a few different places you can choose from (including outside). There are also restrooms available too. This market was clean and everything was nicely organized. Overall, it was easy to navigate the store. Would definitely come back if I lived in Montreal.

It seemed impossible to find good produce at a decent price in CDN, but then my trusty yelp app came in handy and found this place for me. Wow wow wow! It's so cheap! The veggies are always fresh and super cheap. (Big bag of spinach for 2,99$?!) they have produce that's already sorted out for you (ex. Melons that are halved and skinned). Their bakery breads were a little hard the times I went, so I've never bought some, but maybe I'm just uptight about bread, because a lot of people were buying it. They have a small section of processed meat/cheese. Prices are acceptable. The place is rather small, but they carry a lot of products. The staff is super friendly and checkout is always quick. It's also right by a bus stop and the metro! The only thing I'd like is if there were a wider selection of veggies, but given the limited amount of space they have, I understand that they can't have everything. All the basics are there though. If you live in the area and appreciate cheap/fresh produce, go go go!

Since there were several exceptional occurrence I put five stars since those staff members deserve it. I won't lessen it for the one disappointing staff member or perhaps that would be worthy of its own review, so again sticking to the good for now. One specific time I was looking for basic kitchen items like utensils and dishes etc. and the person in that department really went above and beyond what you'd expect to help me find what I was looking for and also gave useful opinions of the various items. Another time it was the store manager who was extraordinary accommodating. On even another visit to the pharmacy section the staff member helped me find and go over the differences of a few products which was very helpful. Again above the average good service. It's always refreshing to have these types of experiences in such a huge store, where poor service can sometimes be expected or par for the course. I now remember another good team member who helped at the checkout, when I had a couple of questions. They didn't just brush me off - which sadly it almost feels like at other times. So again focusing on the exceptional this time and we can debate the one apple proverb later.

The location took a bit of getting used to since it's in more of a residential neighborhood and I'm staying in the city center, but it got easier to find after the first visit. Accessibility was a little tricky at first, the fully accessible entrance with automatic doors closes about two hours earlier than the rest of the store. When I arrived the first time, the staff were incredibly kind and helped lift me and my wheelchair over the small step at the front, which I really appreciated. Once inside, the aisles are spacious, well-marked, and easy to navigate with a wheelchair. Anything that was out of reach wasn't an issue at all because the staff were very friendly and happy to help. We made it work with their English and my French, which made the experience more enjoyable. My return visit the next morning was much smoother since it was daylight and I already had a sense of layout. The staff were even friendlier the second time around. The hot food was really good--maybe not as much variety as I'm used to, but still very satisfying. The chicken wings were fresh, hot and well prepared, the potato wedges were well seasoned, large and hot! Checkout was quick and easy, with registers at both the front and back of the store. They also accept all forms of payment, which made things convenient. Overall, a really positive experience, especially because of how helpful and welcoming the staff were.

The Long Version: So I had heard that in 2018 Sobeys became a majority shareholder of the Asian grocery chain Kim Phat. Sobeys is the parent company of IGA. So I wasn't really surprised when I saw signage outside of this IGA that they have a small Kim Phat section in their store. I was curious to see what it looked like, so I had to go in to take a look. The section is small, but clearly labelled. Just look for the red lanterns hanging from the ceiling. They had a good selection of Asian snacks, but nothing too unique that I can't find back home in Ottawa, so I didn't buy anything. The rest of the grocery store is like other IGAs. This location is connected to the mall (Complexe Desjardins) but there's an entrance from the street as well. If you're looking for Asian items, you can find some here, but to be honest, this IGA is not far from Chinatown, so I would just go to Chinatown where there's more selection, but if for whatever reason you don't want to head down to Chinatown, this IGA will have some items.
