I was overwhelmed by what appeared to be a sense of community with the residence. I also noticed that the staff to patient ratio was double/triple from what I saw at other centers. Berkshire's management makes sure every patient is taken care of. The nurses, PT staff, Aide's, Maintenance staff are all so caring. A friend of mine who financed nursing homes told me that when you walk into a nursing home and the lobby is beautiful, turn around because they put all their money into appearances and not the patients. Berkshire looks a little tired, but I can honestly say it is the best center on Long Island, hands down.
