I was told never to "trust" the lowest bid. I'm so glad I didn't follow those instructions. Metro isn't trying to get 300% mark up like other companies. They are competitive in pricing and take the time to do the work right. I was told they'd be there on that day at 7am and it wasn't even 7:01 when I saw them in driveway ready to go!! They were professional, they interacted with my 2 year old daughter who was just in awe of the process. I can't say enough about this company. I'm a smaller, residential property, but they are for the every day family. They worked endlessly to get it just right in a very tight area on the side of the garage- you could tell they were making it perfect as if it was their own home. Metro Paving Don came in with crew of three. He said he would be here at 7:00 and at 7:00 he arrived. They worked on my driveway from 7:00 until they finished at 2:30. Tore up and took away all the old asphalt and replaced it with all new asphalt. Could not be happier. They carefully worked around and took note of my sprinkler heads. Metro Paving was the best decision I made when choosing who would enlarge and replace my driveway. The entire crew was amazing, led by Don, the owner. He was like a magician in the bobcat. It was amazing to watch him take an old and huge tree stump out of the ground. He must have spent at least an additional 30-45 minutes to get it out of the ground. Most contractors would have paved over it, but not Don. The driveway looks and functions amazing. We had torrential rain two weeks after the new driveway was installed and the rain ran off the driveway perfectly! It was a pleasure working with Metro Paving and I would highly recommend them to my friends and family. The price was very fair. read more

What a jerk!! In late March, I had Metro come out for an estimate. Don measured and gave me an estimate on the spot. Absolutely no small talk he barely spoke and just handed me the estimate (this seemed odd, but oh well). I told him I was getting other estimates. I spoke with his office a few days later and asked when they would be available. They said not until late July or August. I said that was too late as I wanted to get it done in April. The woman said sorry and said well we can put a tentative date on the calendar and no worries if we had somebody else does it in the mean time. I ended up finding another paver who was super nice,lower price, and was flexible on scheduling.  On Sunday July 28th, Don calls my wife really gruff and angry confirming he is going to show up the next day. After he got really nasty, she was really shaken up and handed the phone to me. He starts yelling at me. I calmly explained to him the tentative scheduling and explained that I hadn't heard from him in almost 4 months. I also pointed out that we had no signed contract and I had not given him the go ahead to do the work. Don started yelling and swearing at me. I asked him if this is how he treats his other customers. He then said to me that the next time he sees me he is going to "punch me in the face and strangle me". I was shocked. After explaining to him that he had just threatened me, I told him I was glad I didn't do business with him. He yelled and swore some more before I hung up on him. This guy has zero class and needs to treat customers with respect. Find somebody else. read more

I met with 2 other driveway companies for estimates, but when my husband and I met Don we felt that he knew exactly what we needed done and his estimate was honest and very reasonable. He is a friendly guy and you can count on him for doing the work that was promised. Don and his team of workers showed up on time and worked a full day tearing up my driveway and installing a new one. It came out so beautiful. I can actually say my driveway looks beautiful, they shaped and curved the driveway around an area of flowers and a tree and we truly appreciated the extra time that it took. Don and his team of workers did such a great job. Amazing experience with repaving our difficult, slopey and curvy driveway. This year my husband and I interviewed 3 contractors before we met Don (and a number of them in previous couple of years to no suffice) and we were instantly impressed with his calm, friendly and professional attitude. He was able to measure the job and to give us estimates (which were very fair) right on the spot. Even though we had to wait for an opening in his packed schedule for over a month, he and Sheila were extremely responsive and helpful in guiding us through a state permit process. On the day of the project, Don and his crew were on site at 6:55 am and started working with no dillydallying. I have never seen more hardworking, diligent and efficient crew, they worked non-stop and took care of such important to me details (plants on the side of the driveway, solar lights, etc) that I was really touched: they really gave a damn about their work! Needless to say, what we thought would be a complex 2-day project was done in 8 hours, the site cleaned to perfection and recommendations on how to treat it for the next days and weeks were given in a most friendly way. I asked Don if he did any other jobs except paving and he, unfortunately, does not. I am very happy that he is so busy and that the word travels - he deserves it. I had my driveway completely removed and a new one installed today. Don came out to give an estimate about a month or so ago and it was very reasonable. He gave us a date when he was available, said he would mark it all out about 10 days before and was right on time without us having to call him back or follow up. Most pleasant experience yet in having work done to our house. The crew arrived early and were ready to work. My husband watched the work being done and said that they all knew what they were doing and made it look easy. I got home from work and was shocked at how good it looked. We have a pitched driveway and it was old, wavy and had a steep drop at the bottom. My husband told Don when he gave the estimate that he wanted the pitch more gradual and never had to mention it again. The driveway has a nice gradual pitch- exactly what we hoped for. They finished exactly when they said they would which to me shows they know what they are doing. I would highly recommend them. Thank you Don and to the entire crew for a job well done.
