A very strong 4 stars. Surf Parade isn't half as exciting as it sounds. Parts are one way, parts either one lane or two, and it's far enough from the beach to have nothing but concrete views.
Metro Coffee sits in a small group of shops with minimal seating at the front and a nice open face. In fact it's the open front, which essentially showcases the entire interior, that attracts you to them. The black and white signage looks sleek and it makes you look.
Don't expect a great view or little traffic. It feels cramped inside and sitting at a table with high chairs I had a hard time getting my 'body' where I wanted it and had 2 or 3 people brush up against me as they ordered. Decor is great with some kitchen views, coffee paraphernalia on display, great looking food in cabinets, a fancy coffee dripping machine for all to see, cool staff, and a general feeling you will enjoy your visit.
We did. The coffee was well crafted and made us return two days later for a takeaway. Our breakfast was tasty and the muffin, whilst very large and a little dry, also quite nice. Broadbeach might be a busy concrete jungle but cafe's aren't on every corner and you still need to look around to find nice places. This is one of them and if I lived/vacationed in the area this would be my local. Great coffee or great view? You know my answer. read more
