I came here with mum the other day. Upon arriving we were completely ignored by the staff. I looked…read moreat them as if to say... Are we allowed in here? Finally we were taken to our table and were asked if we would like drinks. I ordered a long black and mum ordered a green tea. While the server was (apparently) making them we perused the menu I ordered the Chicken schnitzel and mum ordered the quiche. We were asked what salad we would like with that. I said "What are the choices?" the server had no idea and told us to go "check them out" in the cabinet. We stood up and walked to the cabinet we both opted for the quinoa salad. We returned to the table still no drinks.. 10 minutes later we finally received our drinks. The green tea was ok but the coffee was undrinkable it was a black greasy burnt mess. Finally our food arrives and it was the smallest chicken schnitzel I have ever seen it was basically a deep-fried sponge and was clearly frozen. Mum quiche was so so. The quinoa salad was dry and was more like chaff. I refused to let this go on and I said to mum let's go. We went to pay and the girl asked how was everything I said "sh*thouse actually" the owner heard this and after explaining everything to the owner she let us out for free. They have got pretty bad reviews recently on other ratings websites and now I know why. A cafe needs two key things. -Good service -Good food. Chevron Social has neither. Will definitely never return and I suggest others look for other options nearby too. I've given 2 stars because we didn't pay, otherwise it would be 1 star.

Busy, busy, busy, this cafe was ridiculous with people on a Monday for breakfast (a time when you…read morethink people would be working - maybe it was just holidaying folks). Grocer & Grind is located in Broadbeach on the Gold coast, just down the road from the currently being updated Pacific Fair shopping centre. Grocer & Grind's focus is on organic local produce, and they have a tiny little grocery inside from where you can purchase your usual 'superfoods' and ridiculously expensive muesli, et al. We ordered drinks; Gold coast cafes seem to lord it over Brisbane cafes with regards to amazing juices, frappes and delicious concoctions. I had Strawberry Slushie; Strawberries, coconut yoghurt, lemon and ice (AH-MAAZE-ING), and my sister had the Banana Espresso; almond milk, espresso, frozen banana and raw cacao. My Breakfast Bruschetta was certainly fresh and wholesome; really delicious *real* tomatoes, coriander pesto, buffalo mozzarella, drizzled with olive oil and balsamic, on a grain sourdough slice. It was certainly small for the price, but you generally would expect to pay a lot more for organic produce, I suppose. My little sister had the Bacon Eggs Benny; a very herby hollandaise with bacon, avocado, poached eggs and grain sourdough; plus an additional side of haloumi that she generously gave me half of as I looked at her dish with sad puppy eyes. There are other impressively healthy sounding dishes such as Acai bowls, Super green breakfast salad, plus a tapas and sandwich menu for lunch. This cafe certainly looks to be the latest thing on the coast, and served up a pretty decent breakfast, although I would've liked to see a tiny bit more on my plate.

Initially I was pretty stoked to find this near our holiday apartment. A reasonable selection of…read morequality grocery items (handy for health conscience people like ourselves on holiday). The menu looked really good but we didn't eat. As for the coffee, I sometimes feel I am ruined being from Melbourne. Coffee was okay but the milk texture was flat, so flat that the young waiter spilt it putting it down and mumbled a half-hearted apology and scuttled off. I am also used to getting a flat white in a 150ml tulip so getting a 220ml cap cup the coffee seemed a little washed out. I would go and check it out and make up your own mind.
