Kangaroo burger. Not gamy at all. Tastes like a different type of beef.
Nick N.

Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Cleanliness: 4/5 Decor & Style: 3/5 The Kangaroo burger was great! Especially since it was my first Kangaroo burger ever! Sauce was tasty, good even balance between tomato, greens, and some kind of preserve sauce. Definitely worth trying and I would get it again if I return to the area. The restaurant is really small so if you're there at a busy time be prepared to wait in line. I did like that you can grab a beer from the fridge anytime you want and pay at the end, made it simple!

Metro Burger is small. Like 5, 6 tables small. It's cozily nestled in the Degraves Street lane way. The sign brought us in, "Burgers, Beer & Cider." I didn't need to know much else. I ordered a veggie burger. It wasn't my favorite veggie burger. More like a thick potato patty, with beet root and avocado on a bun with salad. Again, not something I'd order again here, but it sure was filling and a decent size. My friend ordered the Outback burger which was made with kangaroo meat. After a bite, it was tasty but a little too gamey for my liking. The sweet potato chips were very good, thick and well seasoned. On the plus side, we happened to be there during happy hour (which ended at 6 pm). The bottles of beer were two for $5. Which is probably the cheapest I've ever seen a beer at while in Melbourne. So that's definitely an unexpected win. And service was prompt and friendly.

Small, friendly, fast and perfected. These burgers were crafted. The fries, thin cut perfection. Australians like thin shakes, I suppose... so good on that too, better with real fruit instead of syrup. I'd eat there daily if I were a local

Probably 4.5 stars but THEY GOT ME KANGAROO SO 5. Also Idk how actual kangaroo tastes like so I only have this to base off of :/ Aye mate! So we was in Australia and we really wanted to get us some of that Aussie food. And when we were ubering around the city, they always asked "What do you like?", similar to how it goes in the States. They have a huge variety of food and the one that we specifically wanted was Aussie. So I decide to Yelp (somehow, there are nary many reviews in Melbourne, but luckily Metro Burgers popped up. It's on the famous Degraves street. I say famous because there are a lot of shops here and also it has its own Yelp page :P The "restaurant" ... or I guess this would be called a burger joint, was immensely packed. There wasn't that much room here unfortunately (maybe 5-6 tables here?). Walking in, we were greeted by the cashier and she asked what we wanted. Obviously for us, we were like "aw crikey, the kangaroo mate!" Just kidding. I have no clue what the accent or their verbage is xD Anywho the outback burger's what you want if you reckon some kangaroo. Outback Burger ($14.90AUD)- Kangaroo patty, bush seasoning, lemon and parsley mayo, wild tomato relish, salad, tomato, lettuce, onions, beetroot So this burger attacks you in two ways. They have a white lemon and parsley mayo on the top of the bun mixed with the tomato relish on the bottom. Add the juices together, and you got an amazing feeling in your mouth. Eat it solo? You might not like it. The kangaroo patty looked like a beef patty (heck, it totally could have passed for beef if we really thought it to be), but it was a little bit more harder to chew (but still definitely chewable). They have beets on top (I'm not a fan but I already got used to it because of Hungry Jacks). The cashier behind also said a lot of people came here requesting the kangaroo meat (at the time of this review, there were only 5 reviews, so I guess word of mouth or foursquare or something? Iono lol). Definitely try this burger if you're into meat but if you're not into kangaroo, try one of their double metro burgers. I haven't had it personally, but if the outback is that good, who knows how the others are? I didn't get the fries tho. I guess I should have lol. Anyways, my reviews might be longer for some of the Australian reviews because there kinda aren't too many reviews for these places u_u

Outback burger (kangaroo) and sweet potato fries

This place is ridiculously cute, ridiculously tasty, and has an awesome staff. This is my second visit to Melbourne and my second visit to metro burger and I'd happily come back again! I'd recommend the outback burger. It's their signature burger, made with kangaroo meat (for a real local experience). Fyi kangaroo is good. Slightly gamey compared to beef but lots of flavor. The sweet potato fries are also awesome. Their toes with a spicy Cajun flavoring, so keep that in mind in case you're not a spicy fan (I am!) I'll be back

Well here is another one of those cool burger bars that seem to be appearing everywhere. I'm not sure how I missed this one, particularly since it is on Degraves Street and I do wander down here every so often. However upon seeing it I decided I'd come back that night and check it out. Well, it isn't large, which means getting a seat can be a bit difficult at times, particularly since there was a whole stream of people coming through here. They had an interesting range, and I decided to go for the Aussie Burger which, unlike some places, actually uses kangaroo meat. The chips were okay, and they did give me a pretty large serving. Not a bad place I have to admit, and quite conveniently located.

I came here specifically looking to try the kangaroo burger. They call it the Outback burger. It is a more expensive than the other burgers on the menu, cost is around 14.50 AUD. You order at the counter area, then find a seat. This place is pretty small; it seats about 20 people. My burger came out pretty quick. There was a red sauce in the burger that oozed out, so it was messy to eat. The sauce was sweet, so each bite had some sweetness in it. Interestingly, this burger came with beets, which is something I'm not very used to. The kangaroo patty looked pretty much like a beef patty. It is a bit tougher than beef to chew on, but nothing too crazy. It might be hard to notice that it was kangaroo if you otherwisr didn't know. Kangaroo meat is a bit more dry than beef as well. It doesn't taste very good by itself, but when eaten with all the other ingredients inside the burger, it is pretty good.

Metro burger and chips

There's been a lot of burger bars springing up in Melbourne lately. This one stands out of a couple of reasons. One is that they go beyond the basic burgers types that everywhere has to some creative types like a kangaroo burger. The portion sizes are impressive. I couldn't get through all of the Metro Burger and chips I ordered despite being hungry. I was pleased that unlike many places that under-cook burgers, the meat was well cooked without loosing the flavour.

Coffee was alright, had to ask for milk and sugar for the tea/coffee but then wasn't given a spoon to stir with. Could use better waitstaff

I had both the chicken and kangaroo burger. Both were very nice. The side of fries is substantial.
