I love this place! Actually now looking back on it, I'm surprised I haven't been back since my first visit a month ago. Time to change that I think! Funky set up upstairs, they've really worked the space well, with plenty of seating options for small/large groups - awesome trailer like seating, which could accomodaste up to 15 people I'd guess. Super funky! Burgers were so delish, and finished it off with one of their milkshakes - not a combination I'd reccommed, but if your eyes are bigger than your belly (like mine on this occation) I am not one to judge.

Yes that is Mac and cheese on top

I'm torn writing this review. On the one hand the food was prepared and delivered quickly, the beef patty was actually flavorful and beefy (meaning they actually used seasoning which can be hard to find in Australia). The bun was toasted and the grains added a nice density without being heavy. The beer battered chips were good, crispy without being greasy. And, they have ketchup packets by golly! Quick service apparently also comes with careless order taking. I had requested no mustard, but was given extra mustard on my burger. Luckily the meat and cheese croquet were able to handle the sheer volume and explosive mustard flavor. The strawberry milkshake is apparently a literally translation from the English the rest of the world speaks because they took strawberry syrup, dropped it into 2% milk, and stirred-- strawberry milk in the rest of the free world, but I'm supposed to be convinced that in Australia that's called a shake? No way. Otherwise I would return for the straight up burger-- hold the mustard.

Order at the bar

If you're a group of 4-8 people, looking for a casual place to sit around and have a chat, a drink and some burgers, this should be your first stop. Definitely geared towards small groups, this place is set out like a food truck picnic grounds. Sections of picnic tables, long bar tables and even booths in cut-out caravans fill this on-trend burger bar. The menu is focused on three things; burgers, booze and dessert. The burgers are good value (my single patty burger only set me back $7.50), the milkshakes are boozy and the desserts are just ridonkulous. Again leading me to believe this is a place for groups, there's no way any one is getting through their nutella waffles without enough reinforcements. As for the burgers themselves? Tasty. I got the CB1 and found it really stingy on a lot of ingredients. I mostly chose this one because I wanted pickles, but the gerkins in this burger were almost as sad as the ones we used to flick on windows as kids. Things improved when I asked for a side of jalapenos to throw in there and helped myself to the condiments to pack a bit more punch. A little more of everything would have scored them more points in my book. I wouldn't come here alone and I would probably pass it up for another less gimmicky option in the CBD if I wasn't in a group because there are other burgers I prefer, but if I had plans to kick back with mates for a bit and needed a fun, casual spot to keep things lively then I would definitely put this on my list for places to go.

Maker's Mark, salted caramel and maple bacon "milkshake" - yum!

When my wife showed me a picture of a burger from Grand Trailer Park Taverna, it was obvious that I'd have to visit, and visit soon. But it was after I read a copy of their menu and found their "Spiked Milkshakes" that I prioritised the visit to IMMEDIATELY. Salted caramel. Maple bacon. AND MAKER'S MARK BOURBON. In a MILKSHAKE. Ron Swanson is smiling upon you, Grand Trailer Park Taverna, and he is pleased. Putting aside my obvious hobby for liver damage, let's talk about the burgers. No, actually, don't talk about them. EAT THEM. Go. Go now. Eat. Make "mmmmm" sounds. Revel in the glory that being an omnivore provides. I had The Atomic and it was outstanding. My wife had the CB1, but was still hungry at the end. It's a petite cheeseburger, and were it not for a few other factors, I'd have encouraged her to get another one, and/or dessert. And it's those other factors that things fell down for me at the Trailer Park... It was very, very warm inside. I don't know if they don't HAVE air conditioning, or if it merely couldn't keep up, but with it being 33C outside, it really wasn't feeling much cooler inside. Noticed a lot of people sweating on their brows, and it wasn't the good meat-sweats kinda way. Secondly, and, well, this is a deal breaker for me: Smoke. Grand Trailer Park Taverna has an "outside" balcony where people can eat and/or smoke. Unfortunately, this is still legal in Victoria, unlike many other parts of Australia. The smoke does not stay outside. The doors to the balcony are not very good and regularly stopped open about 30-40 cm...and even when they were closed, it wasn't much of a seal, and the frequent in/out of people and lost staff meant that the stench of cigarette smoke very much permeated the tables near the balcony. The Grand Trailer Park Taverna makes use of the non-table-service standard of numbered signs to indicate where a meal should be delivered - but the staff couldn't always spot the numbers and would tend to wander from inside to outside and then back inside -- I get that, it happens, tough to see them, but, the smoke, ah, well, nope, can't say "OK" to that. And the final point that keeps this from getting four stars from me: The music. Sure, I'm a GET OFF MY LAWN old guy, but not everyone wants loud rap/hip-hop/whatever blasting as they have a meal. Maybe it was just the DJ of the hour, dunno, but something a bit more acceptable to a general audience would have been appreciated, and perhaps a touch softer. I should add, were it not for the Spiked Milkshakes, I wouldn't have given three stars, it'd have been two. There are a LOT of burger places appearing in Melbourne right now, and I love that, but it's not the burgers alone that makes this place worth visiting, it's the rest of the menu. The staff that we interacted with were incredibly friendly. Very helpful, seemed genuinely interested that we had a good time. I would also like to take this opportunity to apologise to my wife if I was grumpypants because of the smoke & music & heat - I could tell she really wanted dessert and I was honestly too full to consider it, and with the other factors my motivation for sticking around was not optimal. I promise next time we'll get the waffle stack thing, it looks amazing. Which means, yes, there WILL be a next time. I just need to hope some of the issues above get addressed, or, we visit when it's not nearly as busy and hope for the best.

Kinder Surprise shakes

We saw a lot of hype about Grand Trailer Park Taverna all over our Instagram explore feed, so we decided to check them out on a Saturday night. It has a great location in the heart of the CBD. When we arrived at the venue, we walked upstairs and were greeted by a friendly staff member. It was bustling with people, and we were notified that it would be between a half an hour and forty minute. She took down our contact number so we could go out and explore the city while we waited. To avoid this we definitely recommend that a reservation is made in advance, which they happily accept. After approximately half an hour, we were called and notified that a table was ready for us - so we headed back over. The hostess took us over to our table, telling us that we would be sharing a table with other people. This was a little daunting as we are both awkward turtles... but it worked out fine, and we sat with some lovely people. The restaurant has a greatly consistent theme throughout, and also serves alcohol, which is not particularly common of a burger place. We think it was a good addition - especially considering the location. After reading through the menu, we headed over to the bar to order our burgers and shakes. We both ordered the Cynthia Benson burger with an added beef patty and a Kinder Surprise shake. Overall, we were pretty impressed with the food. The Cynthia Benson burger has since been changed to a different burger - replacing the mushroom patty with a chickpea patty. The mushroom patty was soft and spicy which gave the burger a punch. The beef was tasty, and all the other elements in the burger worked well together. Unfortunately due to the fact that we were so hungry and excited, we forgot to take some photos of our burgers. The Kinder Surprise shakes were definitely a standout! They tasted exactly like Kinder Surprise, and had a very cute presentation with the Kinder Surprise chocolates on top. The price of $12.00 seemed a little steep, but it ended up being worth it. They also had an alcoholic version available for $21.00. With a great atmosphere, yummy food and convenient location, this is a burger restaurant that is well worth checking out.

Double meat double cheese. Double gym too! Love this trailer park

A+ burgers from bun to bacon. I especially liked the wide variety to choose from. Being hungry, I chose the double patty and cheese option. Brilliant. Next time, I will try the burger with Kransky. Can't wait to return. Wash down your order with an alcoholic milkshake and candied bacon and, there you have it, calories blown for the day. Well worth it though! For the finale, a jar of Nutella with dessert was pure awesomeness. No trailor park trash here ya'all.

You know the feeling you get when you leave a place and all you can think about is coming back? That's how I felt after my first date at Grand Trailer Park Taverna. First things first, it's in an ideal location in the Paris end of Bourke Street in the CBD. The place itself is cool, really cool - vintage caravans, picnic tables and chairs (no you're not outside!), motorhomes and my geeky side's personal favourite - the superhero figurines on display at the bar. The design is retro and very different from the other burger joints I've been to but you know what? I love it! On the menu, you've got burgers, shakes, a good selection of beers and cocktails and the desserts.. Well, what more would you want, right? I had the double double plus the potato mac and cheese and they were delicious!.... No complaints with the burger whatsoever - good meat to bun ratio, juicy patty and fresh and silky brioche bun. For dessert, we shared the giant waffle stack and wow oh wow! It was amazing! It was a great first date and I can't wait to return!

There are no bad or wrong choices from this menu!

To date this is the best burger I have eaten in Melbourne! When walking up the stairs to the venue one may have thought they were entering a dark, dingy burger joint but it is anything but. The space is awesome - some actual trailers that you can sit in and other wooden table and chairs (think park benches) spread throughout the light filled venue. There is a cane basket on every table with your usual condiments, along with refresher towels (which you'll likely need at the conclusion of your meal) and brown paper bags for you to take home any leftovers, however the most exciting addition to this little basket of goodies for me (and from the people at the table next to ours going by their squeal of excitement that had mirrored mine only 5 minutes earlier) was the little saxa chicken salt - the thing that turns good chips into fan-bloody-tastic ones! But enough of the freebies, and onto the stuff we actually paid for, and the star of the show, the burgers! On a delicious sesame seed topped brioche bun, I stuck with a classic and the first option on the menu, the KSA. The meat was tender, the special sauce everything you want to complement a burger and just the right amount of greenery to make you feel that little bit better about yourself for downing a burger. I had just a one or two little things that is preventing me from awarding them with five stars. Firstly (and I realise this is subjective), but I felt the patty was just a bit overcooked. It was still tasty, but it did not have the juiciness that one does when it's cooked to perfection and has that bit of pinkness to the middle of the patty. And my only other minor gripe was that the staff didn't ask about how we enjoyed them when collecting the plates and were gone so fast I didn't have the opportunity to bring anything up - I know it's "only" a burger restaurant, but I don't think that's reason to not ask how a paying customer enjoyed their meal - I would have liked the opportunity to just note my minor issue with how the patty was cooked to pass this onto the chef... All in all, a great experience and I will definitely return to try another delicious creation, but just may request a burger cooked for a little bit less than normal!

Certainly the best chili cheese fries ever! And the burgers are absolutely delicious. All four of us who ate here together today agree that we will be back. The ambience is great, and the food absolutely superb.

Double Francis Underwood

Somebody call the doctor because my heart skipped a beat after eating here...due to clogged arteries and how delicious this place is. Found this place trawling IG accounts and man does this place not disappoint! Burgers are on the more expensive side but you get great bang for buck, as the burgers are pretty hefty and you can customize them however you want. I ordered the Francis Underwood and added another patty...skipping out on another Mac & Cheese croquette. First burger in Melbourne in two years, and loved every bite of it...and puts several Sydney burgers to shame. Friends tried the other burgers and all liked them as well, and we don't even like brioche buns. Highly recommend.

Nutella waffles

The Grand Park Taverna was recommended to me by a friend on Facebook. I was looking forward to having a 'blowout' meal, and this definitely provided the goods with options such as ridiculously large burgers, fries, mac & cheese croquettes, spiked spiders and waffles. There was even a waffle stack on the menu for 4 people! I chose the nutella waffles, beer battered fries and a raspberry spiked spider. All were good, and the waffles had a really nice consistency- crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. If i could criticise anything, it would be that my meal didn't arrive to the table til 15-20 mins after my friend's had, by which stage, she had all but finished her meal. Regardless, I would go back, and recommend friends. Just a bit of advice though- it's not wise to go here before going out on the town. The food portions are so large that you'll be in a food coma for a few hours afterwards.

This place popped up on my Yelp feed every so often, and despite not being a huge hamburger fan decided to go and check it out (in fact I seem to be finding myself visiting quite a few burger joints, but I suspect it has more to do with going out to my way to promote anything that is not McDonalds). Anyway, the layout of this place is pretty cool - despite being on the first floor, it has a number of faux trailers contiaing booths, which certainly adds to the feel. They also have smaller tables, and benches that look out over the city. The burgers themselves weren't that crash hot, but maybe it was the one I had - the Atomic Burger. It isn't the cheapest of places but certainly worth checking out.

He menu as at Nov 15. My fav is he Ivan Drago
Jesse S.

Having tried most of Melbourne's "best burgers" I'd say this place is on par with the others. The patties are thick and wide enough to ensure you get some in every bite. The various burgers they offer are each pretty good. The first burger I had here (The Ivan Drago) was incredible. Since that time I've been chasing the high. I've tried a few others and the Ivan Drago is still the best. Unfortunately subsequent Dragos haven't been as good as my first, but they've still been pretty good! The sweets look amazing but I've never had any space for them after a burger because both sweets and burger are very large. If you want to give them a go you could do what the table next to me did -- one burger and one sweet shared between two. Seemed like the right amount of food. It's insanely busy for a burger place on popular nights (ie lines and waiting lists) but here's heaps of space at lunch on weekends so I'd suggest you try then.

Cute trailer park feel. Let's see what the burgers are like.
