Came in on a weekday looking for a haircut. Courtney asked if I had an appointment and I wasn't quite sure if I needed one. She told me it would be about 15 minutes or so. There's a TV in the waiting area to keep your company. Along with a lot of different things hanging on the wall. One being the prices. It was about $20 and up for a standard haircut. Kids are $15. Shampoo and style is $30. I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with my hair since I've been going to the same barber and barbershop for the past 3-4 years and wanted to try something new. Courtney gave me options and I left it up to her expertise. It came out alright. Was looking for a more cleaner fade, but it was clean enough for going out and to look professional at work. Her kind mom then rang me up at the front register. For me $20 is a bit too steep for a haircut. Totally understand the craft of a barber and not taking that away. For guys haircut, I can get a very nice haircut for about $13-15. Nonetheless, Courtney and her mom are very nice. Pros: I started coming here a few months ago and nothing about this shop disappoints. The shop is always clean and if you ever have to wait, which is rare, there is a very welcoming waiting area with books, magazines, and of course a t.v. This is a small business that's owned/operated by a wonderful mother and daughter duo. They are always welcoming, funny, and down-to-earth. My regular barber is Sam who I first started visiting around 2001. He's very professional and sincere, also. He makes a great addition to the shop and of course he cuts great hair and pretty much any style. He's excellent with shears, clippers, or both. I would definitely recommend the shop. Terrible experience, I have been here once before in a pinch due to my regular barber being booked for the weekend. Courtney cut my hair and I was not at all impressed by the cut which is fairly basic. The blending was just meh, you could see a clear fade line and the edges were not even at all, but it was better than nothing right? 30 bucks later I'm out the door thinking, hey it's a dark clubby/bar environment I'm headed to so at least I got that going for me. Fast forward to today 02/23/17, I finished some errands a bit early, barber was booked again for the day and all I needed was a slight trim and blend, no style changes, nothing at all. The haircut begins with her asking what 15$ cut place did my hair last, I ignored the comment knowing my regular barber has 3 locations and teaches at various barber colleges. I told her what I wanted and she said she won't do it because it's wrong to ask for the front edge and sides to be edged up and squared up, hello? It's 2017 do you cut anyone under 50 years old? Anyways I said fine no problem don't do the cut take your apron off me so I can leave, she then begins back tracking "oh I'll do the cut, your paying me for a service" and I replied "not anymore" and left. Bottom line is my haircut first time around was just that, subpar. Then why come back you ask? I live 5 minutes a day and with the reviews this place I assumed maybe she had an off day. Don't waste your time, goto any of the "show and tell" locations for real barbers that don't even have a yelp page and still stay booked. read more

You can get a decent cut by Courtney. Worth 20 bucks? Hell no. For 20 I expect a cleaner cut, edges and seemless blending and tapering. Courtney is def not on that level yet. With that being said I can get her cut cheaper elsewhere. I also found it unprofessional to complain about not getting tipped by previous clients while there's clients there. Last time I checked tipping is optional. That's why there's a set price for services. Maybe they didn't like their cuts??? That's something to consider. . I read more

Excellent Cut. Great mom and daughter shop. Very friendly and personable. They each have their expertise (i.e. lady's versus men's cuts). I got a 0 fade cut which Courtney executed flawlessly. I went there today with no appointment and was extremely happy with the choice. Cortney was my barber and she is very friendly and definitely knows her craft. She listened to my requests and delivered exactly what I hoped for. I am excited that this shop is so close to me. Before I have been going to Floyd's 99 and I just never felt like it would become a regular spot for my haircuts, and it was a bit of a drive. Well I am very satisfied with Metro and I will definitely be back. If you are in east Dallas and looking for a great men's barber you should give them a shot. She quickly became my go to hair stylist, and when she decided to strike out on her own I couldn't have been more supportive. Loved my haircut! I'm in Dallas for just a few days before moving on to a wedding on Saturday and I was still in desperate need of a haircut so I took to Yelp to help me find a place. Fortunately, I was just down the street from Metro Barbershop and the user reviews did not steer my wrong! It was relatively empty when I walked in, but I could see the appointment book was pretty full and I think I just got lucky. Courtney greeted me right away and I was seated just a moment later. I gave her a general idea of what I was looking for and she went right to work. Had a great conversation with her and her mother who co-owns the place with her seemed equally as lovely. I have been having my hair cut at this small independent barbershop now for about a year. I had tried numerous other barbers and never could find anyone who cut my hair consistently like I wanted. Metro currently has three barbers who all listen carefully and patiently try to cut my hair the WAY I WANT. This is a rarity in today's world. I am fairly particular about how I want my hair styled and cut. I go with the ever-popular tapered comb over look. I've had a difficult time searching for a decent barber around Dallas that I liked. I noticed this little shop when I was driving by and it sparked my interest. I was very pleased with the results. I've been to a couple other small barber shops around the Metroplex and this has been my favorite. Courtney was very personable. She takes her time and pays attention to detail. This all adds up to a great experience and a high quality cut at a very good price. They also offer other services such as manicures, pedicures, back massage, etc. I haven't tried them out but I intend to do so in the future.
