I went to Methodist Hospital South on 3/2/26. The clerk placed the ID band on my wrist and as soon as she finished, the triage nurse called my name. The staff was professional, efficient, and kind. Staff explained the reasons for and actions I received at each step and what I could expect at the next one. My nurses, Andrew H. and Brandi, took exceptionally good care of me. It was necessary for me to have CAT scans and the technician in that area answered my questions patiently and accurately. Dr. McClinton, the attending physician, was prompt and ensured I understood my diagnosis, test results, and aftercare. I visited my friend at Methodist South after he was admitted. The service and care he received was truly exceptional. Every single employee was genuine, caring and thoughtful. The care he received on a daily basis was at the highest level possible. He was there for 3 days prior to being released and I was there each day to witness the extraordinary care he received. You could really see the years of office experience everyone had due to the service and care provided. From the time I walked through there front doors I noticed the clean manicured lawns and the clean fresh hallways. The most horrific hospital I've ever been in! My sister was put in there for pneumonia and because she was unable to walk, the doctor gave her an unnecessary spinal block to remove fluid for her back. However what the doctors failed to realize that she was unable to walk because the nurses didn't try to get her out of bed for 2 weeks! I had no idea that a tremendous bed sore was growing on her bottom. The doctor suggested a rehab center that didn't move her either. The rehab center couldn't believe the bedsores she arrived from the hospital with! Plus he failed to tell me that she absolutely had Parkinson's. He said she had symptoms of Parkinson's. DON'T GO THERE! And don't send your loved ones there! You'll be sorry you did! Neglect and misdiagnosis is the rampant there!!! read more

I like this ER, the wait time may be long but they care and explain things to you. I prefer this hospital over other ones, great staff.

As a former employee and having had experience in working here for approximately 6 months or a little more, I can honestly tell you this is not the place you would want your loved one or sick family member or friend to be at. The hospital rating is deceiving. There is no good communication between nurses and doctors and the patients constantly suffer from this. There is a lack of nursing assistants and a huge burden on nurses to take care of many patients in a small amount of time. Granted I was starting out and maybe I was not experienced, but I believe that even the most experienced worker at this place would have had some trouble. The cafeteria closes early and doesn't always get diet orders right and leaves the patient hungry after 4:30PM until 8AM. The employees kind of just work by themselves and I never really felt like it was a team effort for the greater good of the patients. It was nearly impossible for me to do my job without the cooperation of the staff, doctors, and other nurses. I often felt like many others did not like working there either. I had several hostile patients and some of the staff has a kind of like figure it out or do it on your own attitude with the patient problems I encountered. The place offers incentives or money for you to work for their company, but I am not sure if that is truly worth the cost or risk the patients are often put at due to the lack of coordinated care. read more

Been sitting in the emergency room for TEN HOURS!! Been here since 5oclock, it's now currently 2:47 AM and I still haven't seen a doctor. They've taken my vitals, taken blood, that Apparently they forgot they did because they attempted to do it again. Also asked for payment information but I've still have yet to see a doctor. I came into the ER because I was having some pains that I was concerned about, and I feel worse then I did when I got here. I feel like I'm getting sicker just sitting in this lobby. Last night was another trip to the ER (Methodist South)with my asthma, Alexis was my nurse on last night she went above and beyond her duty . I was so weak until I was unable to undress. I hate having IV but the EMT was great. The only issue I had was I suffer from asthma really bad perfume is a trigger for my asthma. People should not be allowed in a patient area if they are wearing perfume. When the registrar enter my area her perfume was so strong to me until I had to cover my face with the sheets so I could breathe. Perfume shouldn't be allowed. Overall my visit was great read more

This hospital is terrible. I came at 2:30am with body aches and extreme back pain. They put me in a closet sized room with a very uncomfortable chair and no one ever came to see me for hours. I finally gave up and left at 8am feeling worse than when I got there. They didn't help me with anything, do not go here. read more

This hospital usually doesn't take long to get you out of the waiting room, but may i say, if you're looking for somewhere professional, don't come here!!! You're in a non-private small room the size of a closet. They use their PHONE flashlight to check you. Is this even allowed??? They have no interpreters on site to assist. They are unsanitary. I came in and there was only one nurse taking care of a multitude of patients. This used to be a better hospital and now they've gone highly unprofessional and unsanitary. read more

Yesterday 9-25-2023 I was so disappointed as I had always thought this was the best hospital in Memphis. It was a disaster for me to make an emergency visit and going through the wait time. I arrived at 3pm. and I listened to patient complaining about the long wait, so I went to the front desk and ask for the patient advocate to come to the front desk. She never came so I ask a nurse could the charge nurse come of course she said yes. But never came I was there for severe headaches in the back of my head, and I waited and watch some patients who came in after me get waited on and left. So I didn't know why this was happening. I ask the security if he could get someone else to come talk to me. It's the charge nurse he said to talk too. That never happened why, I waited until 7:00pm. and left because I was going to constantly let my head continue to hurt. It would have been nice for someone to come out every so often and talk to patients waiting that either there no beds or we have a severe emergency or something which I could hear some say. Or simply apologized for the long wait. I can no longer say this is the best hospital in Memphis. I will be going to Southaven from now own. This star above is cracked in Half minus the star. S. worst hospital ever I literally sat from 11 am until 6pm before deciding to leave. no one should have to wait t long to be seen no one

I simply went in for a covid test and ended up there for 9 hours getting unnecessary tests run. Not 1 time was I offered any food or water and I really don't even think they ever actually tested for covid. The doctor didn't diagnose me with anything even though something is obviously severely wrong. I should not have been there 9 hours for a simple covid test because the doctor was "sidetracked". I have never had a problem with Baptist Health until I came to this location. Absolutely the worst experience ever. After 9 hours of sitting there, the doctor didn't offer any prescriptions whatsoever and I was told to do over the counter medication. Something could've been given to me there after 9 hours surely. It was a waste of time and the staff was very unprofessional which is not at all surprising to me. I don't think anyone really knew what they were doing. The last time I had covid I went to a clinic and was given medication and was out the door in less than an hour. I will be sure not to come back to this location ever. read more

My husband and I were visiting Memphis when he had an unexpected ailment and needed to seek care. We chose Methodist south hospital because it had urgent care with a hospital connected. He received excellent service, care and attention while there. He was in triage within 5 mn of arriving , tested in a expedient manner and then given appropriate treatments. We were in and out of urgent care with 2 1:2 hours which seems pretty efficient in comparison to other times we have visited urgent care centers. An amazing hospital that has celebrated 100 years altogether but 40 great years as an individual !! So glad that there is a healthcare system that genuinely exhibits a love and a concern for patients. So many facilities have lost their zest and zeal for quality patient care. This used to be an awesome hospital... Not the case anymore apparently. My husband was having chest pain and couldn't breath very well. After triage, we were sent to the emergency patient room. No one checked to see if he needed anything. He was taken for xrays. After being there for 6 hours, they had the audacity to send in a nurse practioner not a doctor. She proceeded to tell us that she would be treating him for bronchitis although she had no idea what was wrong with him. Yes she actually said she didn't know. I'm very upset and unsatisfied and will never go back. read more

This hospital is the hidden gem of Whitehaven. My mother was admitted and stayed for 13 days. The entire team (nurses, nurses's assistants, respiratory therapy team, physicaltherapy team, environmental services, transporttion, surgery teams, ICU teams) provided excellent and professional care even when my mother was difficult and uncooperative. This hospital is clean and everyone we came in contact was very helpful. read more

I wouldn't recommend this hospital to my WORST ENEMY! My aunt was trapped in this hellhole for a week and one day they FORGOT TO FEED HER!!!! Long story short, 2 out of 10 nurses actually care about their job while the others are in the small computer area talking about how they wait to "turn up this weekend" and how they "can't wait to get f***ed up". Yes! Their private conversations were never private! I hate the fact that I had force them to take care of my aunt. Unfortunately, I couldn't take off from work to be with her each day. However, I went to visit each day after work. One day she asked a nurse for a sprite and 2 hours after she asked, my aunt reached out to me and asked if I could stop by Walgreens to purchase her sprite to help settle her stomach. So almost 5 hours after her initial request, the nurse decided to check on her and remembered they never came back with the sprite. The day that she had to have a lot of tests ran, she was told that she couldn't eat until they were done. They finished running the tests after breakfast was served but before lunchtime. My Aunt was told by the nurse that they will bring in her lunch....but it wasn't until I arrived after work that we discovered she missed both LUNCH AND DINNER! Moral of the story, this hospital will damn near kill you if you do not have a loved one watching over you the entire time! Methodist South doesn't deserve ONE STAR! Memphis isn't that big so if you can afford an extra 15 minutes, KEEP DRIVING till you see another one!!! read more

I usually have a good stay at the hospital that,s Methodist South ,,but not this time. This time it was the worst. I was on the 3rd floor. I have a heart problem. First I am over weight and I,m peeling. Well,because of my health problems I have to use a potty chair. They didn,t want to assist to it. They took their time finding it and a walker. I asked for a fan for being hot. The m.a didn,t come back to tell me anything , I asked the nurse she found one for me. When called had to sit for 10 to 15 min. before anyone showed up. Not everyone was like that. I hope I never have to stay on the 3rd floor ever again. That is "THE WORST FLOOR" in the world. The staff members SUCK!!! read more

My mom has been admitted at this awful hospital that is so called renovating at the inconvenience of the patients. The ICU rooms are seperated of the ICU patient is doing a little better than they are moved to this little closet with beige curtains , darkness and with a tv that stretches around right in front of their face . No one thought this project out at all . She has also been here and no one knows why she hasn't eaten since she has been here for three days. I was told she would get her nutrients through her pick line. Don't take your love ones there . Nurses were only following their orders . I will be getting to the bottom of this situation!!! read more

I arrived Friday 1/19/2018 had a MRI done on my left big toe due to infection I was placed in room 457 I had a nurse that worked the night shift constantly leaving my door open after been asked to close it I have call for someone to close door several times after door have been closed I can hear her and her associate in the hallway laughing Everytime I had surgery on 1/22/18 that morning so I can't walk but last but this morning I tried to get up and close door and almost fell until she saw me and then she close door and I can hear her laughing again.My name is Joseph Monger read more

methodist south hospital was one of the most terrible experiences of my time, the staff started off quick then slowed up so fast next thing i knew i was there for over 4 hours without my results, no doctor in sight, just waiting... after asking 3 nurses "where's my doctor" but yet nobody has a clue, unfortunately i had to pick my nephew up from school so i had to leave without being dismissed because as I repeat again my doctor was no where in sight for over an hour... My test results were never given to me unfortunately after waiting over "4 hours" Also the emergency room customer service lady was extremely rude over the phone.... do not i repeat do not go to this hospital unless it's your last option read more
