Tests were performed, and his wife was told that everything was fine. She was also instructed to stop one of his blood pressure medications, and he was discharged home. The ER staff had been told that he had been weak, had fallen previously, and that this time he was unable to pull himself up. Despite knowing this information, he was still discharged. After arriving home, my father fell again in the garage. EMS was called, and he was brought back to the same ER. This time, he was admitted. Unfortunately, our experience during the admission was extremely concerning. The nurse practitioner/hospitalist repeatedly reminded us that my father was "only admitted because he fell," which made our family feel unwelcome and as though our concerns were not being taken seriously. I also felt that we were treated as though we were ignorant when we tried to explain our concerns. We repeatedly expressed concerns that medication issues could be contributing to his weakness, increased confusion, and hallucinations. Instead of feeling that those concerns were thoroughly investigated, we felt dismissed. At one point, my father was given Ativan, and afterward he appeared extremely altered--almost as though he were in a state of psychosis. We were deeply concerned about his condition and the medications being administered. The hospital then attempted to discharge him home despite our concerns about whether he was safe to return home. The nurse practitioner and case manager suggested that our family find him a facility. We ultimately had to appeal the discharge. Only after that appeal did the hospital become responsible for helping arrange a rehabilitation placement. A rehabilitation facility was eventually identified, but our family was given very little information beyond the name of the facility. We were not given clear answers about how long he would be there, what services he would receive, or what the plan was for his care. The entire experience left our family feeling frustrated, dismissed, and extremely concerned about my father's safety and well-being. We still have unanswered questions about what caused his falls, his weakness, his worsening confusion, and his hallucinations. I am sharing this review because families deserve to know what our experience was like. If you have a loved one with cognitive impairment, weakness, recurrent falls, or complicated medical needs, I strongly encourage you to ask questions, advocate for your loved one, and make sure you fully understand the plan of care before accepting a discharge. Our family came to this hospital looking for help. Unfortunately, we left feeling like we had to fight to get our loved one the care and safety he needed. I want to also, put on record, if the hospital staff documented that they were in constant communication with us, is a lie and the documentation has been falsified.

I was having a colonoscopy procedure and the care and concern was beyond excellent. The entire staff who worked with Dr. Bowden was nice and had great sense of humor. Once the procedure was complete and I was stable. I was then discharged to go home. The care was and follow-up call was professional and I'm glad that my first visit went well. I was very pleased.

However, I decided I wanted to be surrounded by professionals with expertise in both baby and mom care, and I'm so glad I chose Baptist. Arrival & First Impressions: When I arrived, I wasn't sure if I was in active labor or not, but I quickly learned I was. After being checked, I was immediately moved into a labor and delivery room. My first nurse, Paige, was incredibly encouraging. She reassured me that I could deliver without an epidural, especially since I was already 5cm dilated and not in much pain. Nurse Transition: Paige let me know her shift was ending and introduced me to the nurses who would take over. By this point, I was 8cm dilated, and the new team--Lisa (Charge Nurse), Sierra (RN), Lindsey (Unit Manager), and Dr. Owens--made me feel confident and supported. I didn't experience pain until they had to break my water at 9cm. Delivery: Dr. Owens and her team delivered my baby. I labored for 6 hours, and after 3 pushes, my baby was born. They were very clear with instructions, guiding me through the process by counting and telling me when to push. My husband was able to cut the umbilical cord, and they immediately placed my baby on me for skin-to-skin. I was also able to opt out of having my baby bathed right away, which meant a lot to me. Post-Delivery Care: After birth, I was transferred to a new room and introduced to my new nurses and lactation specialist. Kacee, the lactation consultant, was fantastic in helping me get the baby to latch, and Amy, the nurse, assisted me when Kacee wasn't available. I also want to give a shoutout to the other nurses during shift changes--Dakeila, Lanitra (who provided amazing resources and support, especially after my baby had to go to the NICU), and Patient Care Assistants Denita and Hieu. NICU Care: My baby had some low oxygen levels after feeding, so the nurses transferred her to the NICU. Heidi, the nurse, was wonderful and made my husband and I feel at ease during a stressful time. Her empathy and positive energy helped us through a scary situation. Follow-up: We were discharged after three days, and the doctors called us after two days at home to check in and make sure we had everything we needed for our baby, while also ensuring I was recovering well. Overall, my experience at Baptist was incredibly positive. While I know every nurse and situation is different, each of the nurses I interacted with made me feel comfortable and never like a burden, even when I had many questions. I am truly grateful for the care we received, and I hope that all families receive the same level of care that I did. It took away all of my fears and anxieties about delivering in a hospital. This is the place to go with respiratory issues for children. They know exactly how to handle it and the staff is excellent with children. The paramedics wanted to take us to Baptist but from previous experience I knew how good they treat respiratory patients at Lebonheur. I don't think they like to drive downtown as it increases their call times and they have to wait for admitting, but I'm glad I insisted on Lebonheur. I hope there will not be a "next time." But if there is, I know where I'm going. I also learned the new addition is not open yet. It is still under construction.

My anesthesiologist did great and my orthopedic surgeon was great with my surgery. They…read moredid the triage stuff, hooked me up to an IV/painkiller that immediately induced a migraine when I stood up. It was so quick, I didn't initially know if I was about to pass out or if I was, indeed, getting a migraine. I got my CT scan and waited. Waited. And, waited. Just before 6pm, I was told I had an "uncomplicated" appendicitis and they were checking into getting me into a room and when surgery would be. It was getting really cold in the ER so, my husband asked if we could have a blanket or something. NOPE! They don't give out blankets in the ER. Not even with me waiting on a room. So, my husband left to go to a nearby store and buy me a blanket. Around 9pm, a nurse came to get me to say they had a room for me. He brought me up, stopped at the nurses' station, and the nurses there were pissed that I was brought up. Apparently, there was no bed in my room. So, they argued and threatened to report the person who sent me up, while I sat there in pain. They eventually found a bed, put it in the room, and brought me in there. My first nurse that night had absolutely no empathy whatsoever. I think she was probably still pissed I was brought up. After she hooked me up to the IV and gave me a pain killer, my pain skyrocketed. I was crying and writhing in extreme pain. This lasted through the entire night until I was taken for my surgery around 9am on Tuesday. I was begging for relief and all I received was, "I texted the doctor. We can't do anything unless and until he responds." I begged for another doctor, a hospital administrator, someone who could do something. NOPE! Only if this ONE doctor texts/calls back. I was then told that there would be a doctor making rounds the next morning. No specific timing or anything, just whenever s/he gets there. I was also told that is when they will decide if they are going to do surgery. IF! So, not only was I writhing in pain all night, I had to worry about whether or not I'd have the surgery. Fortunately, around 9am on Tuesday, I was taken for surgery (still, no doctor had come to see me this point). And, it's a good thing I did have the surgery because my "uncomplicated" appendicitis had turned into a very infected, leaking appendix (aka no longer uncomplicated). I will never recommend this location to anyone. It was a horrible experience. I've had doctor and lawyer friends who have stated that no one should have been treated this way. I already complained to the hospital and they called. I'm not sure what they were asking when they called but, they "forwarded my message." I never heard anything else. Just terrible experience all around. Never again will I go to this hospital unless it is the last option.

I would be surprised if they haven't had many deaths and serious injuries happen because of their incompetence. The nurses don't know how to do blood tests properly. The nurses don't know even the basics of establishing an IV. The Nurse Practitioners are next to clueless about basic medical conditions. I don't know what damage they did to my veins through their incompetence, so I am going to have to spend more money and more time going to a vascular specialist to see. Unacceptable on every level.
