After…read morespending yesterday at Saver's and Goodwill in Santa Fe and finding no Southwest inspired goods, I was in the mood for a real old timey local non-chain thrift store. We stopped here on our way through Taos. Walked in looked around found lots of truly vintage goods. The store was surprisingly busy for 11am on a Saturday. Found a beautiful vintage wedding dress. Unique as hell. Looks hand sewn, and maybe from the 1930s. Had clothes, books, appliances, decor, kitchenry, even cords. One of the staff was wiping down the shelves and the place seemed pretty clean for a thrift store. Great place to stop in!

I had been looking for a pair of silver earrings for a while and the moment I stepped in to this shop, I knew I would walk away with something I had been yearning for. The store is a good size. To the left is what's made locally in Taos. And to the right, all everything else (at least that is what the lady upfront who was manning the shop's register said. By the way, she was welcoming and courteous.) I couldn't help telling her that this was by far the best jewelry shop I had stepped into in Taos to which she proudly agreed with. Her confidence in what the shop carries and sells was manifested in her reply. Everything is beautifully placed inside the glass showcase on both sides. The store has done an excellent job by displaying the pieces in the most orderly way as possible. I quickly glanced at the left side first. I then proceeded to where the lady was standing (the right side). And then a pair of silver Navajo earrings caught my attention. I didn't know they were Navajo until the kind lady told me so. The earrings were exactly the right size (I was looking for something small/smaller.) I asked the lady to take them out of the glass case so I could take a closer look. She, of course, generously allowed me to put them on my ears. At that moment, I knew they were it!! And to my surprise, the price was barely $30+? Really? These non-machine-made pieces are only that much? No more wasting of my time so I quickly transacted to purchase them. A little solo getaway to Taos led me to these beautiful earrings was a treat. If you are in Taos and are looking for beautiful and quality pieces of jewelry, waste no time and go here. You are guaranteed to find what you are looking for.

Since that review, not only has the proprietor (Max) reached out, but he also agreed not to charge me until the products were in route. All in all, I regret my earlier intemperate comments, and am now upgrading this store to five stars, to match the outstanding visit we had to the physical store when we visited Taos in October, and the excellent follow-up experience I am now having since Max re-emerged after his illness. (You could tell when I wrote the initial review that I had mixed feelings about leaving it; turns out I should have held off.)

Came for a leather workshop offered by Max (beginners level) and had a great experience working on…read moreveg tanned leather for the first time. Max obviously knows leather well and explained everything from where the store sources their leather, to leatherwork process, to stitching more difficult items like handbags. The store offers various items like vase/kleenex box covers, small totes, notebook covers, belts, etc. Everything is handmade, down to the prints that are pressed into the leather when creating products. Max even took out his kit of metal stamps and showed us how he hand-stamps the surface of the leather, which was awesome. I was also asking a lot of questions and he was able to characterize a lot of his work for me. Really cool experience that I would recommend for everyone!
