After not coming to Taos for almost 10 years, some of the shops appeared and went. Not sure if this jewelry store existed back then; I sure was happy to stumble upon it (it's kind of hard to miss as it's located in the center of shopping district in the charming town of Taos). I had been looking for a pair of silver earrings for a while and the moment I stepped in to this shop, I knew I would walk away with something I had been yearning for. The store is a good size. To the left is what's made locally in Taos. And to the right, all everything else (at least that is what the lady upfront who was manning the shop's register said. By the way, she was welcoming and courteous.) I couldn't help telling her that this was by far the best jewelry shop I had stepped into in Taos to which she proudly agreed with. Her confidence in what the shop carries and sells was manifested in her reply. Everything is beautifully placed inside the glass showcase on both sides. The store has done an excellent job by displaying the pieces in the most orderly way as possible. I quickly glanced at the left side first. I then proceeded to where the lady was standing (the right side). And then a pair of silver Navajo earrings caught my attention. I didn't know they were Navajo until the kind lady told me so. The earrings were exactly the right size (I was looking for something small/smaller.) I asked the lady to take them out of the glass case so I could take a closer look. She, of course, generously allowed me to put them on my ears. At that moment, I knew they were it!! And to my surprise, the price was barely $30+? Really? These non-machine-made pieces are only that much? No more wasting of my time so I quickly transacted to purchase them. A little solo getaway to Taos led me to these beautiful earrings was a treat. Leroy was fabulous when it came to show me all the Native American handmade jewelry and carvings throughout the stores. He was quite knowledge about all the stones used and took time to write out in details the names of the artists and stones placed in the pieces I bought. read more

Beautiful selection of stuff BUT the owner of the gallery is unpleasant and seems shady. He hid the name of a ring maker from us saying he didn't want us to have the names of any of the artists because they have direct websites and what if we reached out to them directly? That only he could represent them properly. Pretty clear he is doing major markups on their work and/or trying to keep people from supporting them directly. As artists ourselves, we like to give support and recognition to great artistry and express our appreciation for quality work directly even when we can't afford to purchase it. This guy was rude, accused of us playing some game, and talked himself out of other sales with this energy. read more

I walked in with the intention to find a turquoise ring and was immediately greeted by a friendly staff member. He made me feel incredibly welcome and answered all of my questions, sized my finger, and gave me feedback and info on all of the pieces I tried on. Great Service! The wonderful service that I received from the owner at Mesa's Edge scored them a sale. I went into their gallery yesterday and fell in love with a piece that I told him that I would have to sleep on since it was such a big purchase for me. He let me take pictures of the piece on my wrist and told me that he would contact the artist to see if it could be discounted. When I came back today he said that he couldn't get a hold of the artist and that he would take $50 off anyway even if that meant that he would have to take the loss himself. read more

Integrity Missing Just came home from a lovely trip to the Santa Fee/Taos area. Went to the Mesa Edge store after seeing a pair of earrings at our hotel, Taos Inn. I couldn't decide to buy a bracelet or earrings. The sales person told me not to worry. If I didn't like the bracelet, I could bring it back. The bracelet was more expensive than the earrings but he assured me I could bring it back. He neglected to tell me I could exchange the earrings but not get a refund for the difference. I had to spend $100 on misc. stuff that I didn't need or want. I loved my earrings (which I should have bought at hotel). The point: Had the sales person been honest and told me I would have considered my options more carefully. Beware of their sales approach. read more

Beautiful selection of local, native, new, and antique pieces. Quality is top notch and the sales professional was extremely knowledgeable. I found this store to have the best selection in Taos. The prices reflect the quality but are fair when compared to other stores I've found in Santa Fe carrying a similar selection. The earring I bought were so lovely and I know will last forever. First I would like to specify that this review is for the store located in the ski valley. I stopped in today after skiing and was excited to look around. I didn't have much time left in Taos and I wanted to browse their selection of turquoise jewelry. I mentioned to the employee that I also made jewelry so this store was my type of heaven. She asked if I was a metal smith and I said no and told her a little bit about the type of jewelry that I make (which supports me as a full time income!) and she quickly said 'so...you're NOT a jewelry maker actually...' and continued to insult my livelihood saying I was just a 'beader' and there's about 400 people just like me here in Taos. I was in no way saying that I had the talent/skill of these amazing artists- just that I really appreciate jewelry. If she had not interrupted my explanation in order to insult me, maybe she would have realized that. I am sorry to the artists featured in this shop that I was not able to shop their incredible work because of this terrible customer experience. read more

Really great service. My fiance and I went ring shopping and I fell in love with a gold ring with Mediterranean coral. Nan showed it to us, and we said we'd have to think about it. Came in a couple of days later, and she remembered us. Since we were going to have to get the ring re-sized, she called the owner of the ring to see if she could knock the price down a little bit, and we were able to get it at a discounted price. The other woman working there was very personable, as well, and we had a really pleasant time picking out the perfect ring. read more

I bought a pair of earrings on March 25 2016 for $75.00 which i wore then, but after i got home that night a friend noticed that a small blue bead was missing from one of the earrings. I gave them to our tour guide who had taken me to the store and who told me that the store stands by their stuff and that they would repair it. A few weeks ago i received a call from the store assuring me that they had taken the earrings to the person who made them and that they would be sending them home to me soon. I am waiting here in PA for them and am very excited at the prospect of receiving them in the mail. I thank everyone involved in advance. read more
