Unfortunately, my experience with Ron was in variance to some of the other positive reviews…read more I did a handful of sessions with Ron and he generally seemed impatient and frustrated. He confirmed as such in our last session by calling me "annoying, demanding" and said "I keep arguing with him". Those were the exact words he used. What seemed most baffling to me was that he spent very little time asking me questions about myself but kept putting forth 'hypothesis' as he called it that he chalked up to his "gift of intuition". He didn't take kindly to questioning the hypothesis but would just repeat that he had great intuition. This seemed like an exercise in vanity. It seemed only obvious that he wouldn't need to keeping putting forth hypothesis if he spent any time getting to know me. He talked about setting clear goals ("no navel-gazing" as he said on his website) which I did, yet he seemed annoyed by my question as to what the path to those goals might look like. He exasperatedly replied with "Do you need for me to explain to you how psychotherapy works?". Apparently, I "demanded" he provide me with a plan which is certainly not how I phrased it and I don't imagine another therapist would receive it that way. It also did not feel like a good use of time to keep rehashing my goals when the sessions were only 40 minutes, shorter than the average therapy session. Stylistically, he was very heavy on jargon and abstractions. If often felt like he was regurgitating something he read in a book on Jungian psychology. When there is clarity of thought there is clarity of expression; when there isn't you get bogged down in therapy word-salads. He frequently bemoaned the fact that I was not 'quick enough to open up to him' while seemingly oblivious to the ways in which he conducted himself - looking annoyed, exasperated, occasionally sighing - that made it difficult to connect with him. To his credit he seemed sincere and wanting to help people though only insofar as you are 'willing to go along with him'. When asked what that phrase meant he said he wasn't able to articulate an answer. My experience was that it meant you go along with the script; any deviance from it would not be tolerated. Any questions asked were a personal affront to his gift of intuition. It requires a certain arrogance to call someone who pays for your time 'annoying', and 'demanding'. More importantly, it does a massive disservice to those vulnerable enough to seek out therapy. If as a therapist that is how one conducts their practice, I would suggest a profession that doesn't involve their interaction with other human beings. I've seen a handful of therapist over the years, one who I thought I was very lucky to have met, a few others who just weren't a good fit, and Ron. If you are reading this review looking for a compassionate, patient, and warm therapist, this was not it. I wish you good luck in your search.
