I worked well with Namita for about 12-13 sessions. Then she called me a "privileged white male" -- pretty much out of the blue. Charging outrageous rates (over $300 per hour when I worked with her) while calling people paying her "privileged" -- that takes some nerve. Calling someone who was abused as a three year old boy privileged (and grew up dirt poor) -- THAT takes some nerve. And abused -- by a woman! Namita, what kind of therapist are you that you would condemn me out of the blue and not expect for the trauma to get retriggered and YOU getting this projection? This is easy stuff. Perhaps she'd like to volunteer at a shelter somewhere for $10 an hour if she is so concerned about social justice. I hope others take this experience into account when picking someone to work with. Once again, that incident was amazingly upsetting, unprofessional, and unacceptable to me. Hopefully, she thinks twice before talking to clients that way again. Stay away! EDIT: Namita, you cannot save this with an apology or a free session. I think the best service would be for other potential clients to know how you've treated me. If they want to work with you after reading about this -- great. But if I read this review, I'd never work with Namita. So I look at this as providing a valuable service to the community. I want people to know how you behaved towards me. If someone wants to work with you after that -- cool but now they know. And, sorry, a rupture like this working with a person with trauma cannot and will not be fixed with any apology or free session. This information must be public. And also, notice how Namita focuses on the part where I said some of our work had been helpful -- and yes, some it has been helpful. But, Namita, would you like to address and explain why you called a sexual abuse victim "privileged"? Notice how she conveniently skips that part in her answer. I want you to answer that and explain why you said that and if you thought that choice of words and that behavior was appropriate. This is why you got the one star, so if you want to have an authentic discussion about this -- explain to me and to Yelpers why you called me that. You didn't say a thing about that in your response. Why is that? Please explain to fellow Yelpers how a man who was abused as a three year old boy and dealt with lifetime of pain, anger, hatred, broken relationships with other sexually abused women and problems from it is privileged? And why you called me that? THAT's the question I want you to answer and you said nothing about it in your response. You're sorry that it happened? That what happened? It didn't just happen, Namita. You made a CHOICE to call me that. Why did you make that choice?
