Mesa is the vet that I take my dog and rabbit to and I couldn't be more pleased. From the staff to Dr. Horst, the people here are professional and skilled at what they do. I have always received straight-forward answers to my many questions and my pets are in good health thanks to the people at Mesa. I can't speak to their pricing since I've only taken my pets here, but it seems fair and transparent. My pets and I thank you, Mesa!

A HUGE shout out to Dr. Garms and this practice…read more My Schnoodle has been a patient of Dr. Garms since 2017. She is, by far, the most compassionate veterinarian I have ever known. Recently Morgan's appetite diminished and he would not eat his favorite fruits, veggies and kibble. After he stopped eating all together, about 8 days ago, I tried feeding him chicken and rice. Initially, he loved it but stopped eating this. Last Saturday, 7/8/23, I called and left a message. Dr. Garms called and suggested a few things of which I tried, Morgan was still not eating much. I called on the following Monday, Dr. Garms was off and Sabrina suggested baby food and since they were booked on Tuesday, she asked that I drop Morgan off on Tuesday morning for observation and lab work. I picked him up Tuesday evening and was asked to bring him back Wednesday morning and plan on leaving him and going over his blood work results. Tuesday evening he still did not eat anything and sipped a little water. When I returned on Wednesday with Morgan, Dr. Garms entered and I knew immediately that the news was not going to be good. Morgan was in both renal and liver failure and his numbers were so far off the scale, there was not much that they could do other than palliative treatment. I looked at his listless body and made that dreaded decision to euthanize him. Since friends had shared their recommendations for in-home euthanizing I contacted 2 of these vets and neither had anything available that day or the next. I did not want Morgan to pass away on a metal table or in a strange environment, Dr. Garms offered to come to my home that evening around 7. The process, of course, was difficult for the both of us (we were both crying when he slipped away) she was incredible, comforting me. She took his body back to her practice and indicated that she will take care of everything including arranging for his ashes to be returned to me. Dr. Garms is not only a very capable clinician, she is the most compassionate vet I have known.

Getting an appointment was never easy and then front desk staff was typically quite rude. There were numerous communication breakdowns involving this rude desk staff. The most memorable of these was when a vet told me to come in for a follow up of some sort and put me on her schedule for a quick visit between patients. I checked in at the desk for this visit, they told me to sit down, and I waited there with my dog for what seemed like forever. When I was the only one left in the waiting room, a tech came to the desk and asked the receptionist who I was there to see. She said right in front of me, "I have no idea what she's doing here or who she is." I explained it to the tech and was eventually seen. My dog started having some issues with waking in the middle of the night with what seemed like pain or anxiety. Dr. Garms dismissed this as him being old and having canine dementia. Thank God I took him to another vet practice. The vet immediately suspected an adrenal tumor simply by palpating his abdomen. This was confirmed by an ultrasound. We were able to manage his symptoms for another year or so. Why am I leaving this review now? This greedy practice has for some reason started emailing me repeatedly with my dear deceased dog's name in the subject line. I haven't been to this place in 6 years. I've tried to unsubscribe but to no avail. I don't recommend this place.

He was also upfront about what each procedure would cost which was much appreciated. After a couple of hours, we were able to take her and transfer her to a 24 hour clinic. The staff here was absolutely phenomenal and I can't say enough good things about them. It's tough to be put in a situation like we were, but the team here made you feel at ease and that it was going to be alright. You are in great hands here! I love the doctors, always willing to lend a helping hand and offer a fresh perspective to any possible concerns or worries! My only complaint: front office staff? Definitely could be a bit more "welcoming". I get that phones ring off the hook, you can't just be all "Hey! Welcome to Golden Animal Hospital! How are you today!?" buuuuut, usually we get a scowl whenever they look up from the phone. Don't get me wrong, this isn't EVERY member of the front office staff, we've encountered some very friendly ladies there. Maybe a halfway point between a cheerleader and a scowl would suffice. You know, a small smile when we walk in and you're on the phone? Silent, polite acknowledgement of my existence in your building? Please? Overall, we've had no complaints about the actual veterinary clinic staff, only the front office members. Work on that aspect and you'll be well, GOLDEN. Seriously, the older woman at the desk, try SMILING once in your life while at work to the clients who walk in... Even worse, I know when she answers my phone calls and I immediately just want to be transferred to someone else. I picked my dog Holley up from her spay a few days ago and OF COURSE I have to check her out with this woman. I'm given two medications, both of which she TOSSES up onto the counter at me, not even looking "there ya go", she said. Really? What is it? How much is this? Why does my dog need this? Why can't you just hand it to me like a normal civilized individual? Sometimes I hate calling them because I know the chances of her answering are always pretty high. The minute I hear her voice I just ask for someone in the back to call me back, leave my name and number and leave it at that. I don't even bother trying to explain to her why I need to talk to someone in the back because I've been cut off far too many times.

I brought my nine-year-old Pomeranian to Animal Urgent Care after a seizure because his regular…read moreveterinarian had not yet opened. I approved bloodwork to look for metabolic causes of the seizure. The bloodwork was useful and ultimately showed no obvious peripheral cause. What I found frustrating was discovering that an IV catheter had also been placed at a charge of $120. I do not recall consenting to catheter placement; I recall specifically consenting to the bloodwork. No fluids or medications were administered through the catheter during his visit. The medical record states that catheter placement was approved, which does not match my recollection of the conversation. After several hours, the treatment provided consisted of examination/observation, bloodwork and placement of the unused catheter. Hospitalization for continued neurologic observation was recommended, which I declined in favor of taking him home and following up with his regular veterinarian, who knows his neurologic history and current medications. I understand why an emergency clinic might want IV access available in case another seizure occurs. My concern is not that the clinicians considered it medically reasonable; my concern is that a $120 procedure was performed that I do not believe I authorized, and I did not understand until later that the catheter had not been used to administer any treatment. In an emergency, owners are frightened and making decisions quickly. Clear communication about what is being proposed, what it costs, whether it is diagnostic, therapeutic or precautionary, and obtaining explicit consent before proceeding are extremely important. My primary concern is the IV catheter and the lack of consent. The catheter had already been placed before the veterinarian came to speak with me. I was never asked whether I authorized placement of an IV catheter, and I was never told that it would cost $120. What I was specifically asked to authorize was the emergency/triage evaluation and the bloodwork, which I approved. The medical record subsequently states "IVC placement approved." That is not an accurate account of what occurred. I did not approve catheter placement. By the time the veterinarian discussed the diagnostic plan with me, the catheter was already in my dog. It was never used to administer medication or IV fluids. When I decided to take him home, I also had to specifically request that it be removed. Ultimately, I paid $610 and left without any treatment having been administered to my Pomeranian for the seizure--no seizure medication, no fluids, and no other therapeutic intervention. I understand that examination, bloodwork and observation have value, but for our particular situation this emergency visit was not worth the cost or the additional stress to my dog and me. In the future, I will make a seizure-management plan with his regular veterinarian so I know exactly when emergency care is warranted. His regular veterinary clinic opened approximately 40 minutes after I arrived here; in retrospect, I wish I had kept him safely confined and comfortable and waited for his own veterinarian. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this clinic.

She gets on the floor with my pup and makes sure she is as comfortable as possible. She doesn't get upset when I question common practices and instead gives me her honest opinion and allows me to make my own decision without judgement. After calling around, I discovered that guinea pigs are considered "exotic" pets and thus I had a hard time finding a vet that specialized in them. One vet recommended GoldenView and I'm glad they did, because, in my opinion, they are really great. Before seeing the Dr. Kris Ahlgrim, a young male vet spoke with us about our guinea pigs and checked them out. He seemed very patient, thorough, and compassionate. He very much seemed to care about our animals, and for that, I was immensely appreciative. We then saw Dr. Ahlgrim. Dr. Ahlgrim clearly has a passion for her profession, and for the animals she sees. She talked to our little pigs, and petted them, and seemed to make them at ease. She and her vet technician even carefully cut our pigs' nails for us (for free), while telling us how to do it. Ultimately, she said the one probably had ringworm, but that we'd have to have a lab test done in order to confirm it. Sure enough, he did... But the medicine they provided us made it clear up after a few weeks, and now he's back to normal. The day after we left our appointment, GoldenView's staff called to check in with us about our guinea pigs.
