This is a hidden gem of a campground especially in early fall when it's not crowded. Very well maintained and big sites. WiFi wasn't bad either. Bathrooms were clean and the staffer Harry was really friendly. I'd stay here again. read more

A weekend getaway tarnished by an unfortunate event, that could have been made less horrible if management did ANYTHING for its guests. See my review below. If Zero Stars was an option, that would be my rating. Stayed for 3 days with another family and this was our experience that has made us never want to return and warn others not to even check it out. Site C-3 had a sewer drain failure of massive proportions. A clogged drain sent a piss-n-shit fountain two feet into the air and flooded the site. A waterfall of human waste poured down the hillside into site C-4 and beyond. The sight and smell were what you can imagine, absolutely horrible. Management was contacted immediately but no one arrived on scene for 30 mins. Meanwhile the sewage continued to flow. We were allowed to move sites, so nice not to have to remain in a field of used toilet paper and poop, but no other discount provided for time lost of my vacation or the hardship endured. When we left the next day (24 hours later) the mess was still there, untouched by the team at Merry Meadows. Hopefully no one was seriously made ill by the possible contact of unknown pathogens distributed on the sites. It is unheard of in a consumer business, not to try and appease the customer. The fact that we stayed there this summer and inquired about staying for the winter months and were told that we could bring our golfcart and use it. Only to be told today they DO NOT have a site for us, we CANNOT use our golfcart, or our fencing for our dogs. This place is disgraceful. Do not recommend. Staff is not knowledgeable about their own rules and regulations. The mis-information provided to me is totally unacceptable. We planned on camping here for the winter last year but thought it was risky the way they do their reservations so we did KOA. This year we tried it during the summer and enjoyed it. We weren't allowed to use our golf cart but were told by Harry that we could as monthly renters. So we were happy. I met with Harry yesterday and reviewed the costs and contracts and that when my golf cart comes onsite it needs to be inspected. I was fine with everything and told Harry I'll be back today with signed contracts, vaccinations for dogs, and insurance declarations. Harry said Lorraine would be on today and hopefully have my spot picked. I showed up today and Lorraine was on the office and they didn't have a spot picked, I was told I can't use my golf cart, and I am just very disappointed with the customer service and lack of knowledge/miss-information as this place has left us stranded for the winter now. I did my part for planning and took the risk of waiting to make a reservation late towards check-in time. Now look at use. Thanks for nothing Merry Meadows. I do not recommend this place. read more

I had extremely high hopes for this facility because it's super close to home and the amenities are top notch.... That couldn't be farther from the truth... the staff at check was fairly friendly for the amount of people they were helping at the moment. The camp spots were absolutely perfect, fairly leveled nice sized pea gravel (the kind that won't kill your poor feet) picnic table & fire ring. Setting up was a breeze. And if you are only there for real camping you are fine. It's when you start interacting with staff that there becomes issues. Our first interaction was with the pool staff, they are extremely unfriendly and poor attitudes. Please note, if your child is in any sort of safety jacket/ floaties you must be within arms reach of them at all times (even in the wading areas& splash pads) also, you must have a paper pass to enter the pool with everyone's name and ages . I camped with my husband and twin 15 year old sons. Upon entering the pool an older gentleman was questioning me about my children about their whereabouts and that made me EXTREMELY and I mean EXTREMELY uncomfortable. Seeing on wasn't even there as he was at work and the other was at the RC track. Lastly the listed events /attractions, they are not easily explained and they tend to favor those who are "seasonal campers" and are very unfriendly to those camping daily. read more

Pros: amenities that are kid friendly such as bounce houses, pool, golf, driving range, bingo, mining for gems, arcade, & activities during the day. Dog park and beautiful nature walk with stream. Entrance gait with gate key required to enter. Cons: those activities are only open a short time and most at an additional cost. Golf carts are not allowed unless you are seasonal site campers. Electric scooters also not allowed for anyone without a license due to safety? So no power propelled toys for children. This was handled incorrectly when I seen Lois yelling at my son instead of seeking an adult and communicating that. Overall: could be a nice stay if owners would clean up and update. Consider hiring more employees to allow activities to remain open for longer hours. read more

Don't waste your time or money on this campground. If you do come, make sure you leave yourself an hour plus to check in. The only thing you don't have to provide at check in, is a blood sample (surprisingly). Once you get checked in, make sure you have plenty of cash. You will be nickeled and dimed your entire stay. Example, my parents came to see the grandchildren for a couple hours, and the guest pass fee for them was $20 per person (for a Halloween weekend). That was explained but it doesn't negate the outrageous fees (for providing absolutely nothing) as if two senior citizens (68 years old +) will be doing anything of significance. NOT an ideal spot for NCR bikers who are looking for a layover on a weekend ride. The campground itself is nice, busy, with a lot of optional activities (mini golf, driving range, bounce house, etc. all at additional cost) If you're going to stick around for a week and have children, great! If you bike in for the night, be ready to pay $60 for one of four poorly maintained tent pads (no picnic table at the one we were assigned to AND there was a giant tree down across the pad/firepit. Don't get me started about the amount of poison ivy at the sites either!) Incredibly disappointed with customer service who didn't seem to know where the tent pads or working water spigots were located (we tried a few that did and did not work). I understand that we're not their go-to clientele, but being so closely located to a major bike route, I'm shocked at the lack of systems in place. Based on the one night experience, would not recommend. read more

i think we came at the wrong time! Owners daughter seems to be having a rough day. Being the only employee on the property, we asked her for some information while she was landscaping. She pulled her headphones out and started with a lovely attitude . the pool, put put, splash pad, jump pad , gem mine and all other activities only happen on the weekends??? Giving conflicting info from that of the front office and what was advertised on website, she had no answers and became very prevoked that we even bothered her. Then back at our campsite she follows us back and began finger pointing saying we don't want unhappy folks here! Then countinued to yell at the top of her lungs so she could speak instead of myself! I have been to many campgrounds in my life and this one has to be the worse so many rules its was unreal Went to the pool with my grandchildren Lifeguard told my grandchild she had to take off her puddle jumper because Lois did not allow them in the pool it seemed like every time we wanted to do something it was not allowed we had friends come at 6:15pm on a holiday weekend we were told they were not allowed in because the store was closed . The fun center, snack bar and driving range was never open when we want to use it. It was really sad this place had more rules than minimum security prison camp. She needs to stop living in the past Elvis and get with it . this campground has great potential it's beautiful but her rules and the way she runs it makes it horrible. read more

Shocker, the owners haven't even "claimed" this Yelp! account. Actually, that says a lot. This PHYSICAL SPACE is great. While aged to some extent, the campground is in relatively good shape. My wife said one of the bathrooms she used was "disgusting". Great sites, most level, and paved or gravel. TONS of activities for kiddos. HOWEVER, their strict adherence to some pretty arcane "rules" actually forced us to look elsewhere for long term. We even had to "sneak" in our son, just to visit during the day, ostensibly because they were at their "guest limit"..... wouldn't even let friends visit, WHO WERE ALSO CHECKING OUT CAMP SITES that offered storage.... Very "Anti- Customer Friendly" The owner was very nice, he actually escorted us to our site, and helped us back in. But the office staff.... Man, they need a lesson in HOSPITALITY. (They even "lost" our reservation, only 2 days prior to our arrival) The POTENTIAL for greatness is within reach, they just need to WANT it. Sold our home and moving west we pulled our RV into this camp ground to regroup and get more organized. We called ahead and made reservations and got all the particulars about checking in. Good thing we did. It was late, cold and rainy when we finally arrived. The instructions were great and we were able to pull in, do a quick setup before finally after two very long moving days, lay down and get some much needed sleep. Because it's winter, there wasn't anything going on except a squirrel nut convention, lol so I can't comment on activities. I did peruse through the camp store while our clothes were being tossed around in their wash machine. Even though it was off season, I found the store to have lots of items and good prices! The gal at the desk was on the phone with a client so I didn't have the opportunity to chit chat. My husband was the one who talked with her both on the phone and when we paid and remarked how kind and pleasant she was. Even though the off season pricing is a little on the pricey side, we have enjoyed our stay and the quite solitude and chance to rest before driving cross country in hope of finding our new place of residence :) Let the journey begin! read more

Merry Meadows is not merry. We've been camping 20+ years and have never had an experience like we had at this campground. If you read my review and think to yourself that it can't be 'that' bad, then please take the time to read through many of the other comments. You will see a common theme and many negative remarks. One of the reviewers mentioned that those campers who break the rules are the ones that write negative reviews. Not true. No 'rules' were broken. First, they tell you nothing as to the cost of the amenities until you receive your confirmation email two days prior to your visit. And they tell you to bring cash. They discourage credit cards. Their method of accepting credit cards is to hand write your credit card number onto the old credit card forms with the carbon copy (the ones that used to imprint your credit card.) Arrived on a Friday and couldn't wait to take the grandkids to the pool on Friday night. No splash pad. What they don't tell you is the splash pad is only available on weekends (Sat-Sun) and they control the hours that it's open. Same with bouncy house. $8 to jump around per child and then it's only open 1 or 2 days a week for only 2 hours. Don't go to this campground with children and expect to have the amenities during the week. As for the bounce pad and inflatable slide - FILTHY. I have pictures to prove it. Kids and clothes were filthy when they were done. We let them play on it because we had already paid and they were so looking forward to it. We kept our time there short and straight in to the showers when they were done. Arcade was open with no one in it. Not air conditioned and too hot to use. Many rules. They hand you the rules at check-in and then they want an employee to go over them with you to make sure you know all of their rules. They also tell you to fill up your water tank in the 'event of a power outage.' We had to use the water in our tanks because their water sputtered, full of air, by mid-weekend. But they won't tell you that is why they want you to fill up your tank. It had nothing to do with power outage. Went to use the restrooms nearest our camper on Monday morning and they were locked. It was 8:45 am and the bathroom door on the outside of the building was locked. Really? Many gate rules even though the gate wasn't working. Stressed the gate rules over and over. And poison ivy - haven't seen so much in a very long time. I realize you are outside and camping among the trees, but that much poison ivy? Staff is indifferent. There is no warm greeting. If you walk into the office, they take their good old time looking up to acknowledge you. It's like they take pleasure in seeing how miserable they can make their guests. When I inquired about the bounce area's hours and said I was disappointed it would only be open one day that entire week, I was told that they encourage parents to entertain their own children while camping. Why did I come to a campground with amenities? To not use them? They have many permanent or seasonal campers who speed through the campground. I wonder why there isn't a 'rule' for them to slow down. We noticed it every time we were out, how fast they drive. So even though this is the nearest campground to our grandchildren, nope, nada, not going back. I left there irritated and upset that this campground could bring my mood down so much. And you'll have to call the office if you want to find out what to do with your garbage. For all the information they give you, that is acutely missing. We were surprised to be able to secure a FHU campsite for a weekend at the last minute. Not surprised now. Many open sites were available that weekend. I wish that we would have read the reviews before booking. read more

We have stayed at this Campground several times. My husband and I like the solitude and lovely views. The staff has always been extremely helpful. They have programs and activities that you can join in or just do your own thing. We plan to return in the fall. read more

This campground while doable and it worked out fine, is a very rule based and hands off style campground. They don't allow packages to be delivered to you which is hard for fulltime RVers. They are not handicap friendly either. Won't stay here again. read more

If your looking for a quiet campground this is it. That said keep in mind the owners as friendly as they are are stuck in the past, no Golf Carts unless it's approved by them, the pool was recently refurbished and apparently run separately from the campground, they are very strict on rules no drinks or food can be brought into the pool area. If you want a soda you have to purchase from their snack bar. The electric fluctuates and my site shows reverse polarity at the box. The kids area where they advertise a big swing and bouncy pad, don't be fooled you have to pay for it at a rate of $10 per hour per child. They also have a driving range it looks good even though I did not try it. I was never told about garbage pick up so I had to drop the bags myself which is towards the front of the resort. The campground is also off the beaten path about 10 min give or take from interstate 83 and you have to traverse winding hilly roads to get here. Oh water hookup there is a sign on the door that states fill your fresh water tank because it is normal for them to loose their well pump during large storms. For just a quick little weekend getaway for adults you would be good to go but if you have kids I would look elsewhere for the weekend. read more

We were there from Saturday morning to Monday morning, in the middle of summer, so presumably the busy season. The kids activities that are advertised- bouncy pillow, giant swing, pedal cart course, arcades- were open only from 7pm-10pm on Saturday night. In 48 hours of peak time, the activities are open a total of 3 hours. My kids are little, they go to bed at 7:30. So we got to explain to them all weekend, when we drove by the empty pedal cart lot and deflated pillow, that no, actually we can't do any of the fun stuff this weekend after all. On top of that, the staff at the pool and check in were rude, and the rules, omg the rules. You can't even bring a water bottle to the pool. Don't waste your time with this place. read more

Campsite we were on was spacious and clean. We did not use the bathrooms since we utilize the full hook up. The check in process took way too long and was overkill. The campground had too many rules. i.e. my parents visited for 1 hour and were charged $10.00 each and were forced to leave a $20 deposit for a gate key. (They double the visitor fee on holidays). Also, they will not allow visitors to bring pets. Even though we were guests, we still had to show a pass to get into the pool. This is just one of those campgrounds that probably got burnt one time or they are just paranoid. I will probably not go back unless they loosen up a bit. When i camp, i want to relax...$3.00 should be the most for a visitor that is not going to spend the night. read more

This was the absolutely worst campground I have ever been to. They are rude and very unprofessional and have no clue how to run a business let alone rent out lots to professional campers. They kicked me out for no apparent reason whatsoever, also kept my money that they shorted me of for two weeks of rent. Then I was also harassed the four months that I was there. I will leave another review as this is not all I have to say. My lawyers are in the process of suing them for the wrong that they have put me through. We enjoyed our time at Merry Meadows. The check-in was quick and easy and the lady at the desk was very friendly. The sites were private and spacious. The bath house was clean and adequate. We had friends staying on another site that had a problem with the electric hook-up, they called the office and maintenance showed up right away to resolve the issue. This place straight sucks if you like to have fun. Apparently you have to be in your camper by 11pm, and the owners will lie to your face stating you had been out at 1230 and the spoke to you. We had already headed to our shower and bed by 12!!! It is clean but ran by grumpy people stuck in 1970. Narrow winding roads, facilities need attention, bathrooms/showers had obvious mold, buildings had faded, weathered & deterioration. The women at the front desk were very nice. My group and i was asked to leave because we were loud. I get it we were a little loud but the way the owner went about it was pretty shitty very rude and very unprofessional you don't speak to people that way. The group across from was also loud but they were allowed to stay. So it all boils down to race they has their minds made up from the first day we got there. The man at the projection screen followed us around and was harassing us also. I wish I could give 0 stars. I paid $80 and was only refunded $65 . ZERO STARS!!!! DO NOT STAY HERE!!!! we arrived on a Friday afternoon, ate dinner at the small restaurant which I complained to my family the whole time about because it seemed a little off mainy because one teenager was running the place alone and preparing everything. After eating we saw the person preparing other campers food with no gloves on and touching raw meat and then touching other things. At that point I was completely grossed out. Sunday morning I woke up with horrible stomach pains, nausea, and diarrhea (8-10 times a day) . All of these symptoms continued for a week. I thought at this point I had a stomach bug. 3 weeks later I was diagnosed with campylobacter and e coli ... The health department has been contacted. The damage that has been done to my intestines is unknown. Almost 3 weeks of horrible pain and GI problems caused because of the lack of care and following health department rules.. I could now have IBS for the rest of my life. I hope this place gets SHUT DOWN!!! read more

This campground is the most greedy, insensitive people I have ever dealt with. Last year (2017), they would not allow my 3 and 5-year-olds to wear any sort of floatation device around the pool area. They told me that their reasoning behind this policy is that parents who like to ensure the safety of their children are just expecting the devices to act as a babysitter. - NOT - Some of us responsible parents think of it as a second proof of protection. I recently (May 2018) had a second very insensitive ordeal and have decided that I will never come back to this campground. It's so very unfortunate. I feel very sorry for the owners who are willing to lose not just one long-time frequent customer, but they will also lose a lifetime of my extended family's business. We will take our business elsewhere. Would really like to see this under new ownership, has great potential. read more

Hate to give this campground a less than perfect rating because the grounds are awesome, site was clean and spacious. The deck was great. With that said, our experience was less than perfect just because of the strict gate/guest access. A friend came to pick us up, with his 3 year old daughter and had to leave a $40 deposit to enter. After we returned to the campground to be dropped off, our guest couldn't exit gate without us. My husband had to walk back to our motorhome. Not a relaxing camp experience. I'm all for common sense rules. Having to have key to exit doesn't make sense. Also, all the cool kid activities we saw online was not open during our stay. read more

We have camped here many times. It is a very laid back campground. They have things to do for the kids during the day and in the evening. The only problem I ever had was with the TV hookup, but it turned out to be a problem in the RV. The gentleman from the office stayed at our site until we figured out what was wrong. I would recommend this campground to anyone. Will be back in the Spring. read more

We are seasonal campers in northern PA and after bringing our RV home decided we wanted to give off season camping. This is only a little over 1 hour away from our home which is very convenient. I was supprised at the amount of campers here this weekend and the over all size. It looks like they have alot to offer for the kids with a ball field, pool, game room, and play grounds.
