Huff the hand sanitizer. No really. So, in full disclosure, I have never hired Merry Maids but my 2 friends just hooked up the MM's to come in once every 2 weeks. My first thought was, "dude, yer gettin' a maid? Whatever." But if you saw these guys' house when they lived in Highlandtown you'd think the place was never cleaned. And it wasn't. We're talking sweep/mop/dust/vacuum/etc. House never saw it. Oh and the bathroom. You could hear a fog horn in the distance when you stepped in. FFW to their new dig in Station North. Enter Merry Maids. Wow. It's like their moms moved in. Place is nice and tidy and the floors are cleaned and trash is not overflowing and creating a rat's nest. Hey, thank you, Merry Maids. Y'all make my boys look like fine upstanding gentlemen. Well, at least their house is clean. So I noticed that there was a small bottle of hand sanitizer compliments of Merry Maids. So I used it. Whoa! There's some real chemically smell there. No lavender chamomile or nothing, just straight up chemical. Almost like an ether base. So...More hand sanitizer, cupped the hands and hooo-weeee!! It felt like the amyl nitrate scene from Fear and Loathing. Mind you, it's just a 15 second buzz and it's some pretty harsh chemicals but hey. If ya don't have any other more dignified inhalants around then the Merry Maids sanitizer comes in handy in a pinch. Just don't go overboard, kids. And stay in school. read more

The worst experience I have ever had with any cleaning company. I hired them for a deep move-in cleaning and paid them $400 for an empty unfurnished one bedroom apartment two weeks ago. They didn't finish half the items on the list to clean (such as kitchen cabinets and vents) even though these items were stated in the service agreement. They left dust balls everywhere. It it absolutely filthy (pictures of how they left my vents and cabinets attached). When I raised the issue with them, they said these were stains that couldn't be removed, but I wet one paper towel with water and was able to remove all the dust and stains. It's clear they didn't even try. They sent their team TWO times and their team rushed through and didn't clean most items, and when I flagged more spots that were left dirty, they asked to send their team a third time... absolutely ridiculous. I have no idea how they have 4.5 stars here. Do yourself a favor and go with another company. Merry Maids's customer service and quality of work is very poor and not worth the money whatsoever. read more

Girls are not trained well and do not care about your home Unsanitary and not efficient When nobody is around they will run thru your home cutting corners so make sure you inspect thoroughly And get the svc in which you paid for! Management if full of hatred, jealousy and drama will talk about you and your home. Also treat their employees like shit! The RAGS they use on everyone's toilets, countertops, microwaves, and floors are stuffed all in the same non commercial washer machines to be used everyday. Merry Maids required a contract for 24 cleanings. I'm at # 18 but just moved to a new house in the same area and wanted to switch them over. The sales person said I would have to start a new contract for 24 cleanings in order to avoid the $264 cancellation fee on first house and the double $ for the first initial cleaning of new house. Mind you I am paying $164 every other week for 1 bedroom and 2.5 baths plus kitchen, dining, family and office. The team of 2 spends just short of an hour at my home. I have no complaints about my cleaning team but the service is horribly overpriced for what I am getting. read more

Merry Maids in Towson, MD charged me $480 to clean house. They did not clean everything that was listed on proposal which included an office and laundry room. They were also not thorough in their cleaning. I cleaned after they left. I wasn't aware that they would re-clean so I asked for a partial refund which they refused. They kept saying they would send cleaners back but there was no point to that since I already cleaned. Furthermore, I wouldn't want the same cleaners coming back. I would not recommend this service. They are highly priced and provide poor service. read more

I always knew Mary Maids was expensive but it was only recently when I utilized their services that I learned how overpriced they are. The first time they cleaned my four room condominium, it cost $250. They did do a good job. However the second time they cleaned it costs $150 and they did a very mediocre job, including failing to clean the bathroom properly so that it had to be redone and failing to do such basic things as emptying the trash in the kitchen and bedrooms. When I called their manager to let her know that I was unhappy with their services, she made it very clear she didn't care that I was unhappy or care about keeping my business. They won't be cleaning for me a third time. read more

I have been satisfied with what they have done, especially because I am not on the schedule regularly and have different teams when I call. This must be difficult for them - each time feeling this is a "new" customer, a first time at another household - but they have done a terrific job! read more

These folks are great !!! After a long illness and hospital stay in early 2015 my doctors and friends all said to call Merry Maids and get some help taking care of my 3 story townhouse. I was very resistant ... I live alone and have always managed quite well ... and having someone else take care of things was going to be real culture shock. They start out, after an interview and services quote, with a top to bottom clean ... which lasted most of the day ...and the house looked great. Since I live alone and there is not much traffic, no pets, non-smoker ... they suggested once a month. So for the last year I've had a team of two very nice folks come it and take care of my house. Occasionally the team changes and sometimes there is only a single individual ... but whoever comes in they have a quick tour and review what needs to be done. Then I sit in my bedroom and watch TV. It's great and they do a marvelous job !!! Ok ... some facts. 1. I read a lot of reviews about price ... the point is ... you get what you pay for. These folks are hard working, dependable, respectful of property and thorough. They are bonded and insured. They use excellent products and the house is clean without smelling like a hospital. They do a great job and are worth every penny of it. 2. Merry Maids is easy to do business with. They give you an annual calendar of the cleaning schedule. They respond quickly to email, calendar changes, bad weather and emergencies. They direct bill right to my MasterCard. 3. The teams are flexible in their tasks. I might asked them to pay a little more attention to the kitchen, or not bother with one of the four bathrooms ... no problem. They have always been very accommodating. read more

We were extremely disappointed in our service. Friendliness of their employees does not cover up for incompetence. Almost every single penny we paid them was a waste as we had to re-clean 75% of the "surfaces" they were contracted to clean. I would highly suggested finding another cleaning service. read more
