We started using Merry Maids about 7 months ago. We have a 3 Bed/2bath single story home that is just over 1600 sqft. so it's not huge by any means. We had a consultation and set up our first cleaning without any issues. The first time the house was cleaned it took about 2 hours and looked amazing when the gals were done. These two ladies at the first cleaning were Vonnie and Ronnie (no longer work for Merry Maids) and they were the best we ever had. I tried to request them again, and they were no longer available. After that initial cleaning several weird things began to happen, but not consistently enough to cancel services right away. For example, the second cleaning is not a deep clean and therefore doesn't cost as much. However, we were charged the same $220 for the second cleaning. We had to work that out and then were given a credit on our next one. The third cleaning is when we noticed things being broken. We would come home and find broken pieces of pottery left on the counter with no note or even a sorry. The toilet seat is stained pink from one of their sponges and our vanity mirrors in the master bathroom have magnetic closures that are now broken because someone pushed really hard when cleaning them. Again, no note, no nothing. I know things break when cleaning and these weren't super expensive things, but no communication at all?!? They could have at least apologized. We continued to tip $10/person and have services once a month, but I requested to have the same team each time. My hope was that having a team that knew our house and had done a pretty good job in the past would fix some of these issues. I was wrong. After discussing these issues with the main office in Flagstaff, we were yet again sent an entirely different team. That time their vacuum broke so they said they had to use ours (totally understandable) but then they didn't empty it or put the cord back on and the vacuum was just put back in the closet full of dirt. I was frustrated, but happy enough with the cleaning that time so I felt it was an improvement. Two days ago, we had a our last services with Merry Maids. We came home and found our engagement photo frame broken behind our headboard with the photo placed back on headboard (without frame, like we wouldn't notice?), the master bathroom sink was not cleaned, and our guest bath had not been rinsed after cleaning leaving it covered in ajax or comet powder. I called the next day to let the office know. They had zero feedback. They said they were "sorry to hear that" when I said we were cancelling. It was a fast communication so I guess that's one good thing.
My bottom line, if you can get the same team each time that knows your house and does a good job, then great. But I think we were EXTREMELY patient with all the issues and still never had great service except for the first time. read more
