If you ask me none of those options are all that appealing. With that being said there is hope in Rhinebeck, NY and that hope comes in an Oblong form! (Ok I'm not a comedian) Oblong is the answer to the all too often disconnected book store experiences of the present. This store serves as a sanctuary to those longing for the bookstore of the past ambiance. Tall stacks of books on display with index cards handwritten by the staff strategically placed to provide insight. A friendly staff who goes out of their way to assist you and even remembers you; that's how customer service should be! I recently purchased a book and came back two weeks later for a signing. Upon walking up to get in line a member of the staff recognized me and pinpointed that I was there two weeks prior to purchase to book. Talk about small town charm! Speaking of signings, they often host them as well as meet the author events with Q&A. If you need a book, a place to escape or a time machine to those better days gone past just take a trip to Rhinebeck and visit Oblong. You're welcome.

Store refuses to pay for return shipping even though the signature is obviously fake. Anyone like myself who has been in the business for 30 years can see it's not genuine. Do not buy anything from this store! They need to take responsibility for this and recoup their losses from the publisher, not from their customers! Terrible company!

We live in…read moreNYC and have happily saved our quarters and made the drive many times to play in the classic arcade (and visit Oblong books and Pizzeria Posto) so were were SHOCKED to find out they have replaced the arcade with a tabletop game cafe. The games cafe was empty except for the nice guy trying to interest people in playing games. All the fantastic pinball machines are GONE. The only game left was a video "Simpson's" game. My son played with the other kids whose family made an hour + trip with a bag of quarters. It was such a disappointment. Pretty please use your Megabrains to bring back pinball!

To impress me, a florist shop needs to exhibit creativity and display unique flowers & plants. All of which, Chatham Flowers going for them. we discussed what I was looking for, the price point, if a vase was to be included or not, and they went to work creating a beautiful bouquet with exactly the flowers I was hoping would be in the arrangement. The final arrangement was stunning, packed for travel and for presentation. I could not be happier with the final product. I did also buy a small bird to be nestled in the arrangement as well as a stunning heart for our fireplace mantle at home. In short, great find, talented people, unique inventory, customer focused, and a pleasure to do business with.

I've shopped with ULTA for awhile but never tried their salons, right inside the store. After…read moreseeing that first time visitors to the salon got 15% off, and after having been completely dissatisfied with the high prices and bad cuts at my local salons, I booked a haircut. I have long straight hair but my layers had grown out funky. My stylist did a completely fabulous job at blending the layers and undoing the blunt cut they'd gotten in my last haircut. The haircut took about an hour and included a blowout and shampoo. I was super satisfied with the price (scale based on stylist) and my first timer discount, but I will definitely try to come back here for my next haircut (my stylist was Victoria). The salon area is semi private from the store so you aren't necessarily right in front of other customers. I really enjoyed this and it was such a better experience than the sub par hair cuts I have gotten elsewhere in the area!
