The Nipomo Post Office is very good at misdelivered mail. Bryan set ip a system whereby a monthly check would be automatically deposited into my bank account thereby eliminating the mail entirely.

It's been consistently terrible for years. When we submit instructions for them to execute--basic tasks they're paid to handle--two out of three times, they either ignore them entirely or send a vague, anonymous letter a week later telling us to call them. But here's the kicker: the so-called pension plan "customer service" reps don't even have a direct number. You're forced to call the general support line, waste their time, and then get transferred to the retirement department... who never pick up the phone. We eventually had to start including threats in our instructions just to get a response. It wasn't until we escalated to their ombudsman that they finally did what they were supposed to do in the first place. Most recently, a former employee tried to roll over their 401(k)--a straightforward process. Schwab screwed it up three separate times, mailing checks with the wrong name on them. This is after giving them written instructions, plus wasting an hour on the phone telling them exactly what to do. They've never fixed their broken systems, and it's painfully obvious they do not care about their customers, their responsibilities, or basic accountability.

I am a small business owner. About 7 years ago when we started our business a consultant…read morerecommended that we start a 401K pension fund for our employees. Sounded like a good idea at the time, even though we only had 3 employees. The consultant recommended Hicks Pension Services in San Luis Obispo. After about 5 years we decided that the plan wasn't working for us because there was too much administration involved and the amount that we paid to Hicks Pension seemed excessive for the benefit we received. So we tried to quit the plan. Well that was a process that took almost two years. Our rep was Judy Kingma, a woman who I doubt knows how to smile or see the bright side of life. Her rude and abrupt manner was grating to everyone who worked with her, even our CPA and attorney. There were times when she would not return calls or emails, even though the CPA spoke with her and begged her to respond. It was such a dreadful experience that I hope anyone reading this will steer clear of Hicks Pension and Judy Kingma.

However, it is usually the 401k vendor that does not provide the proper documentation or instruction to the employee (such as GreatWest). Hicks is the company that designs the wonderful plans that benefit the employers that contribute for employees. I know it is a web to weave through. Best way to go is to talk to the rep that is on the top of the statement and harass them. They will get you an answer.
