The Dr. is thorough, knowledgeable, caring, and personable. I really like the location. It is set in Hyde Park/Oakley area and in a cute little office building. There is always ample parking out front and it is a safe area. They are located on the main floor, just follow the signs and you can find it easy peasy. The staff is always super nice and attentive. I am always greeted when walking in and not left to wonder if I need to sign in or if I am going to be left waiting or anything. I have always been taken back in a timely manner and have never had to be there more than maybe 45 minutes in total for a routine visit. Dr. Ott is super nice and a great dentist. The hygienists are always thorough, painless, and thoughtful. They think about the whole picture of your oral/teeth health and take your insurance into account when deciding on testing. Overall, great place to go once or to become an established patient!

When I called to make an appointment, they said they take my insurance. Then, immediately after my regular, routine dental appointment, they said I owed a copay of $80. I thought that was high, but I wasn't overly concerned. Well, a few weeks later, I get a bill for an additional $120. Again, for a ROUTINE dental visit. Come to find out they are NOT covered by my insurance. Their excuse was that they "take" my insurance, but they haven't been in-network for 4 years. WHY did you not say that when I called? You KNOW that's what people mean when they ask if you take their insurance. My insurance company lists their dentist as in network, but apparently it's at another location and Herald Family told me they've "been trying" to get it taken down. I'm sorry, you've been out of network for four years, and you can't get them to remove you from the website? What a lousy excuse. I also had to wait 30 minutes to see a dentist after my cleaning was done because the dentist I was supposed to see was at lunch. Don't schedule appointments at lunch time if you can't see your patients. Stay so far away!

I would highly recommend him and any of the staff working there. Recently, my husband went after years of knowing he needed to. I talked the place up because I was confident he'd have a great experience and, like many people, he isn't a fan of the dentist and due to various reasons, he needed a lot of dental work. Dr. Frew made sure she humiliated, belittled, and excoriated him, even noting that her dental schooling was expensive when he noted finances were one reason he hadn't come in sooner. I notified the office after we got home and the office manager called me. She said she'd talk about it with Dr. Herald. Husband went in for an appointment with Dr. Herald and he seemed to have no clue or, if he did, he didn't see to care. He left without getting anything done and will not go back. I'm beyond disappointed. I'd recommend Dr. Herald, but not Dr. Frew.

A doctor should never be a salesman, but an advocate. I had gone in for a cleaning and asked if they could round off a tooth that was poking me.... 20 minutes later, the doctor had used a putty to reshape all of my teeth to tell me how much better veneers would look on me. They also apparently had to fill all these cavities I supposedly had. My doctor was appalled at how deep they drilled for a routine cavity and now I may have to get a root canal as a result. Truly the worst type of people that only want your money and that's it. Never would recommend as a dentist. Unrelated, but when calling them just now to reschedule an appt for my boss, Google lists two different numbers and their website has a third number. Shocker, all if the numbers lead to the same time with a menu to choose from. All choices lead to someone named Tristan and it goes straight to her voicemail without ringing and once you get to the end and are waiting for the beep to leave a message, the phones hang up on you. Every single time. Literally every time I learn something new about this dental group it's always bad. Don't waste your time, money, or sanity.
