Pt. Leo Estate Restaurant - It's a beautiful night!

A pleasant lunchtime outing. The boab tree on entrance…read more(10/10) was a wonderful welcome. It was a shame they decided to add inaccurate background noises, and the volume was more than I was after. I originally thought to sit in the wine terrace area, but I quickly chose to move to the wine bar as it was much nicer ambiance without the music and I had a much better view there of the outdoor modern sculpture gallery. There was a consistent theme of in-cohesiveness in both the food selection and sculpture collection, providing a diverse variety. I had the mortadella plate which was a surprisingly generous serving for a single meat dish. All the food I had including the miniature olives were provided with plentiful salt provision. A surprising additional was the anchovy butter, a little goes a long way with thundering intensity. By far my favourite part, I highly recommend the people watching experience, a few of my favourite pieces: - game of tag between adults (no children involved) 8/10 - mosaic man of many poses 6.5/10 - space penis 10/10 - women with impressive number of internal cliques 6/10

Exceptional - Top restaurant - it's beautiful located in the estate and adjoins sculpture garden. I…read morewould go for the sculpture garden alone but the restaurant is beyond praise. The service is exceptional - menu is to "die for". The drive from Melbourne is soooo worth it. Definitely an addition to the "must see" and eat, list. Exceptional!

Starting off with the good things: lovely location, huge and open space. We sat near a fire place…read moreand it was really nice. Now onto the bad: We arrived right as the restaurant was opening and immediately got out appetizer, the focaccia bread with dips and olives. This was ok but it's also pretty hard to ruin bread and dip. The waiter stood around for nearly an hour and a half waiting for us to finish it before he even thought to bring our mains. Our main dishes were the wagyu gnocchi and the shrimp pizza (Gamberretto) as suggested by our waiter. The gnocchi came out and looked like a really simple dish. The gnocchi was mushy and the sauce was nothing special. Honestly it could've been regular ground beef and I wouldn't know the difference. I feel like if you're going to use wagyu you should make it more prominent in the dish. The Gamberretto pizza was uninspired. It just tasted like plain pizza with shrimp on it. There was no real flavor to it and was really disappointing. To add to all that the pizza was so oily or so wet that it just drooped when you picked it up :/ We debated whether or not to get the apple pie dessert. We thought it'd be just as tragic as the rest of the meal had been but ordered it anyways. It was as expected, not very good. TLDR; Great location, meh food, get drinks here instead!

If your heading out to Red Hill way the Epicurean is a must visit. Although it is always packed and…read moreyou generally need to wait about 20 to 30 minutes it is definitely worth the wait. Staff are quite pleasant and work very quickly and efficiently. We decided to stop by for lunch for a group of 4 and decided to order several dishes to share. We had the antipasto platter, polenta chips, waygu beef pasta and the napul'e pizza (buffalo mozzarella and anchovies) and were not disappointed. Would have to say my favourite was the polenta chips!

Arrived after 2 for late lunch. Ordered frittata and iced coffee. Specifically asked whether i…read moreshould wait at counter or sit down. Told to sit down and they would find me. After a 20 minute wait i went back to counter to chase up my order. I was told it was my fault that I did not get my items ordered and eventually got given frittata in takeaway and my coffee was sitting on a counter for i don't know how long. This was all in a non busy time. When i went to the counter to chase up my food and coffee after a 20 minute wait i was told after 2 it was takeaway so apparently i should not have sat down as specifically told to do. Customers are expected to know all of this as the worķers just tell you lies and then blame you for not knowing their serving rules. When I spoke to the manager she reiterated that it was my fault and then blamed me for upsetting her staff member. When I said I was a tourist and could not be expected to know the serving rules, the manager and another server smirked at me. They made it obvious that they do not like tourists. At no time did I raise my voice or say anything to the staff member that was in the least bit rude. All I said was asked where my order was and told her that it had been 20 minutes. I also said that she told me to sit down when I ordered. I do not blame the server as it is now clear that the problem is extremely poor management. There was obviously some mistakes made but their response was to blame the customer and then falsely accusing the customer of upsetting a staff member. As a tourist to this area, i would not recommend this place and will never come here again. Lots of other friendlier and more professional places in the same shopping area.

Cute little bakery and has a small grocer attached. There's both indoor and outdoor seating. Vegan…read moreoptions available. The pies are good-- not your typical gas station, dubious meat pies. The flavors are quite interesting. We ordered the Duck & 5 Spice Pie and a Beef & Burgundy Pie. The duck pie tasted a lot like Chinese BBQ duck which was kind of weird but interesting. The beef pie was good with big chunks of meat and good flavor, although a bit gooey. Both pies came with (onion?) relish. The attached grocer has a good selection of fresh fruits/ veggies and frozen take home meals which would be very convenient if you're staying somewhere with a kitchenette. There's a few Red Hill Bakers around the area.
