Now I'm a Gold Star Mom and Mother of a Fallen Sailor. Michael Langan, Owner of this funeral home traumatized me by not allowing me in to view my deceased son at the scheduled viewing time. He locked me out of the home because Donald's father, Kurt requested it. I am not from Cobleskill. The only reason Don was buried there is because he listed his father as primary parent and me secondary with the USN. What that means is his father got to say where he was to be buried. Michael decided to treat me terribly while I was already devastated that my 23 year old son was murdered. I will never forget the day he told me that strangers could view my son first and locked me out of the funeral home. I sat and prayed until his wife opened the door and acted all fake saying, "Good Morning!" I will tell everyone what this man and woman who own the home did to me. I will never forget. Michael was only worried about getting his money for the funeral. Kurt was the one who was paying. So Michael, you will always remember me because I will continue to tell all how you treated a Retired United States Air Force Veteran and Mother of a Fallen Sailor. Do not use this funeral home. They are not worthy of burying anyone's family.

In fact the director kicked me out of his first viewing while he allowed military personnel and locals to go ahead of me & my family. It traumatized me so much that I want anyone considering using this funeral home to think hard about it. The director did not care about me or my grief. He catered to my son's father because he was paying for it period. Besides the fact that I'm now a Gold Star Mother I'm also a retired Air Force veteran. A trap was set and we had Bucky the groundhog the next day. Matt closed up the hole for us. When we heard it again a few days later, Matt came back. There was nothing, so we think Bucky's SO escaped for good. Matt is responsive, responsible, changed his schedule when I asked if he could come a day early and he got the critter. Pest control isn't something we think about, but when we needed it, we were more than pleased with Matt's service. Pricing was reasonable and the process was simple. We'll use Upstate Pest & Wildlife Control again if needed and we highly recommend.

It was time to call a wildlife specialist. The positive reviews I was reading for Upstate Pest & Wildlife Control were convincing enough for me to call them. They were able to schedule a visit for the next day. Jake from UPW&C (no relation to Jake from State Farm) arrived on time and assessed the situation. He was friendly, very informative, and knowledgeable. The cost for the services he proposed and explained was reasonable. He was able to set traps that same day. Jake returned after a couple of days to check the traps. While the traps had not caught anything yet, and we hadn't heard critters any longer in the ceiling, he made modifications and adjustments to the traps and planned another visit the following day. Today, after assuring that there were no more squirrels in the soffits, and no new points of entry, he removed the traps and sealed the soffit hole. (Note: one trap did have part of a squirrel's tail.) I definitely recommend this family owned business if you have problems with wildlife pests. Their entire operation is very professional and reassuring.

Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home Rich - Death is difficult to deal with and plays upon one's emotions, especially in the restricted times of COVID-19. Myself and my husband, Richard, spoke with your parents extensively throughout the week regarding your brother's services and discussed the mandated quarantine that was put into place by our New York Governor for those who are traveling in from classified high risk states, Florida being one in particular. We strongly encouraged that a separate service be held for the family in Florida first at a local funeral home to allow time for coping with the sudden loss of Joey, as well as assist in gaining closure on the situation. This was scheduled and attended by you, therefore, arriving in New York three days later to attend services at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home without sufficiently completing the required 14 day quarantine (Executive Order 205) was not permissible. As promised, a Zoom meeting was set to run throughout the duration of the scheduled visitation, as well as the funeral mass, which both your parents took full advantage of; we pray this helped each of them. We are disheartened to find out now that our communication on this matter may have been unclear to you. Anyone who knows my husband and myself, know that we consistently strive to serve our families with the utmost compassion and respect during their time of need. read more

They worked with our family to ensure that my wife was honored and that her service, along with most of the logistical stuff you would not want to spend your time doing, were handled. During the planning, they explained our options, politely explained deadlines for certain items and requirements, and was considerate of our time and spontaneous requests. Some of the things that were done included assisting us with the writing of her obituary, adding details to their web site, creating a central site which served as a place to offer tribute, condolences, view slide shows, and obtain relevant logistical details like locations and times of the services. All things we were able to leave to the site and not be overly concerned with during the process. The service was well planned, the preparations down to every detail and specification were undertaken with the utmost care, and even when we asked to have a stop added to the procession, for her, they did so without complaint. It is my sincere hope that you rarely need this review and even more rarely that you would need Cannon's services, but when you are in need, I recommend them.
