We bought while here plenty of items from the vendors. There were food trucks if one was interested. There was also a huge antique car show. As someone who used to investigate antique auto claims, this is near and dear to my heart. It was great to see all these incredible works of art, while talking to the owners of these impressive vehicles. It is a two day event and we only spent a few hours here. They have some type of boating event on the lake and also fireworks at night. My family plans to come again for it next year as we have an incredible time! I would highly recommend anyone living nearby or coming to the area to enjoy this great festival!

Went to this wonderful example of early American farming while in Ohio visiting friends. The barn…read moreis comprised of two square pens made of hand-hewn boards from trees, it is an interesting thing to see. Not being from Ohio, it was interesting to see and learn about the history odd the state as told through the Johnston family, who lived at and operated the farm from the early to late 1800's. The farmhouse was built in 1812, and added into shortly thereafter so to have both public and private areas. John Johnston was an Indian agent, and at most times had tribal representatives living in the land there. The spring house is still operating, the spring runs well and is smells so fresh! The canal system was especially interesting to me, it was started to move freight and goods from Ohio to other markets. Unfortunately the railways were more successful in the long run. However, you can take a short ride an a portion if the canal system that is intact on the property. Great way to learn about our heritage while enjoying the Johnston farm.

RibFest is the best way to kick off festival season. 3 bone tasters are 9.99, but well worth it. There is plenty of walk and parking space right near the area.

I think the organizers set the prices for all of the vendors at Rib Fest. After being shocked at the prices this year. I took pictures of their price boards, then I was further shocked, later when I saw they where all the same. Even the newspapers failed to notice that. A couple of examples, 3 bone sampler- $7.00. Pulled pork sandwich- $6.00. A Turkey Leg- $7.00. The drink prices where equally "Gougee". (Please see my pictures for prices). At the time we left RibFest, they should have been charging admission. The free entry gates where still open, not that many people where there. Last year? I think the newspapers raved about the number that showed up. This year the unemployment rate did go down. I did catch the newspaper in a mistake though. They published a picture of a pig mounted/stuffed; it was a Russian boar (an invasive species) the reporter incorrectly called it a pig?

I'm disables and some how I walked from Fourth St to Junk Food Alley. very disappointed that the Marketplace wasn't open on Thursday. How are those people supposed to make they're money on just the weekend!? My idea is to have a place for people to Drop off handicap people, then go find a place to park, and be able to pick them up at drop off point. we ended up getting picked up in the delivery lanes that were blocked off. Worked out well for us, but it needs to be for all!! I feel you're not accommodating the disabled and handicap people very well!

Snipping the red kickoff ribbon alongside festival workers and Executive Director Jack Hammer, Henry praised the yearly celebration as a transformative city staple. He recalled the festival's first run in 1969, when it was stationed along Columbia Street and mostly intended for business promotion. "Look what it has evolved to over the past 40 years - 500,000 people come into Fort Wayne every year and see what it has to offer," Henry said. He touted the nine-day event as helping "citizens rediscover Fort Wayne" who may take for granted the city's attractions. Now, the festival represents the intersection of proud heritage and forward-thinking development, Hammer added. He said selecting his most anticipated event is like choosing "which daughter I love more." Hammer eventually admitted RiverGames and International Village - two former offerings returning after brief hiatuses - will aid in breathing a "new life and new birth" into the usual lineup. For Henry, the lingering question had a more decisive response: He cited the Bed Race and the inventive methods teams employ to meet contest requirements as a personal delight. Of course, the mayor, who had to trade a fresh lemon shake-up and clamshell container of homemade sweets for the ribbon-cutting shears, also favors another festival essential. There is something for everyone. Lots of great food, both fair type and that served up by local churches and organizations. There were even two places that sold ice cream made the old fashioned way. They each had fun setups that churned the ice cream. Sadly each time we went by they were making the ice cream and it wasn't ready. My husband loved seeing the large number of old tractors. On Saturday morning there is also a parade with the old tractors. There is live music and a field full of inflatables and horse rides for the kids. There is even a cornhole tournament where you can pay $10 for a team of two to compete. They also have rows of vendors selling all kinds of things. From clothes to shoes to honey and soap. I would definitely recommend you check it out. Fun way to get out with the family while supporting the local community. If you go from here to Matthews town you will find big rummage sales spread out all over town. And more fair type food being served up.

Normally there's TV's and a big screen saver u to watch the football games too if you're into that (it's a big Ohio State and Notre Dame fan area). There are 2 long food tents with your normal Oktoberfest faire, and some normal festival food if German style is not your thing. Fyi, they tend to run out of sauerkraut balls pretty early because they're delicious. There's a large artisan area that takes up 2 large tents. There's also some kiddy games here for the younger crowd to play to get little trinkets and prizes. There is a seller from Germany that is always selling hats and the pins and feathers to go with them. It will always be busy, just wait your turn and ask questions. They're super helpful! They'll even measure your head for just the right size hat for you! There's a tent on the other side from the artisan area that has some gambling and adult games if that's your scene; pull tabs, black jack, poke, chuck-a-luck/big 6, mug slide, etc. There's tons of portapots and beer trucks scattered at every end and intersection. There is craft beer, including ciders scattered around, but the main beer ticket buying spot is right in the middle. They take cash or credit! There are bands playing all over the grounds; the gazebo normally has the traditional oompa-pa band, and local favorites who play a variety of music that everyone can dance and sing along to are in 2 tents opposite it. You never hear the bands over each other which is nice. There's plenty of picnic tables throughout the grounds, and they have a great parade Sunday afternoon around 2 that goes down the main Street. So it's definitely a festival for all ages. Just know it normally gets a little crazy later at night with half gallons of beer being passed around. It's definitely worth a drive to check out!

Many neighborhoods were closed around town and there was booth after booth filled with antiques, crafts, handmade treasures, and flea markets that I furnished my house with. The main street had lots of food trucks and yummies as grilled meat smells drifted thru the air. The sound of Ecuadorian panpipes also filled the air with sweet melodies, along with other acoustic trios. Today was a beautiful day and after many years we thought we would give it a try for a little get away. Like many things that change, some get better, some get worse. There was a good attendance and they were all partaking at the many many food stalls. -but that was about it. I enjoyed the company of my hubster and found a couple vendors that were somewhat flee market where I found a very nice bowl for $5 and an ornamental birdhouse for 3bucks. Not a total wash, but not our cup of tea anymore....

I have to say I am shocked that this was not already on Yelp. They have something for everyone here. Craft booths, art booths, food booths, airsoft gun booths, jewelry booths, and every other type of booth imaginable. I am a huge Star Wars fan, and I love to find vintage stuff. There are a couple booths that sometimes have really great Star Wars stuff for dirt cheap prices. I love this festival so much!!!!!! I usually go in the morning because it can get crowded sometimes later in the day. This year I get to come on both days because my cousins are coming--hoorah!!!! I have to say I am really shocked that the Earthfest was not already on Yelp.
