Vacation in Palma de Mallorca , Spain, summer of 2022. Mercat 1930 is a relatively new gastropub on the outskirts of Palma, overlooking the marina. The building is a historic landmark: it is a classic Art Decor style and originally was a hotel. After the hotel closed, the building was vacant for a while until the new owners converted it into a gastropub ( if compared with American establishments or is sort of an upscale food court). Nice and tasteful set up. Over 13 stalls offering such, Spanish tapas, Spanish cold cuts boards, a bar with wide selection of drinks and cocktails, Tex Mex , burgers, Asian fusion , steaks, and much more. everything is cooked on the spot only after you order. We tried tapas ( fried anchovies, calamari rings/Andalusian style and baked shrimp (Gambia) in oil) from a stall on the right side ( in the middle) and a plate of ceviche from the tapas fusion stall in the back. Ceviche was excellent. Spanish tapas were quite good ( though I decided that fried anchovies is not really my taste, I should still keep to fried small fish or sardines ). We got bear and a cocktail from the bar and took everything outside ( there are tables inside and outside). Website information re opening hours is confusing. This place opens at 18:30 and closes after midnight. A bit pricey but can be a good choice for a group of people with different tastes. read more
