You could readily spend several hours here, but quite crowded in some areas. I was just passing through as part of exploring Merida -- and definitely worth a visit in my opinion. This one focuses heavily on produce and spices, with a smattering of other interesting things ranging from shoe repair to copying keys. It's an eclectic blend frequented almost exclusively by locals, It makes sense as it is noisy and busy and that scares a lot of tourists away. But if you want to experience a true local market, and have a couple hours to just get lost and find yourself, this is the market for you. Definitely worth a visit and if you find the place that copies keys, right near there is a stall that makes some of the freshest juice with the best fruit I've had here. And if you are feeling adventurous you can stop at one of the scores of food stalls and try your luck with the local cuisine. Seemed…read morelike the stalls were selling the same kinds of goods that were being sold in the pricey stores around the zocalo but at much more reasonable prices. Little or no English was spoken here as it seemed to be aimed at a more local clientele, however, a little Spanish went a long way and we had no trouble negotiating our purchases. Highly recommend.

Matter of fact there are 18 different culinary options. PRO TIP: If you're going on the weekend, get there early to grab and chair and tabletop. The staff is super attentive and it's incredible people-watching. PRO TIP 2: There are not a lot of vegan options but some dishes and plates can be veganized, just ask the vendor from one of the many options. Some nights there are live bands or beer yoga! and other special events so check out their website. I really enjoyed Mercado 60 and can't wait to go back for more eats and cold beers.
