Nice little fruit market on the outskirts of old town. Has most of the fresh fruits that you would be looking for at very reasonable prices. If you are in this part of town it is definitely worth checking out. read more

We felt safe seeing grandma behind the counter, it came across as a family run business. I am olive skinned & brown eyed, so I fit in OK .. took a few items to the counter & the daughter spoke to me in Spanish .. when she realized my blue eyed husband was behind me speaking to me in English .. EVERYTHING changed. all of a sudden their credit card reader was no longer working (even-though we just saw one person before us use it, it still had blinking lights) they figured out we did not have any pesos since we asked them if they had an ATM .. then we were told they take American $$$ - however, they made up their own exchange rate. The absolute worts thing they did was sold us SIM cards (chip) for our 2 phones ... we had been told in US to make sure we activate the chip/SIM card & add data to it, activate it in store to make sure it is working & valid. We did, the young lady that sold us 7 days of unlimited 5G data actually charged us $20 for 2 chips then only activated it for the minimum 2 hr data use which was $0.20 cents worth and pocketed the difference. The sad part was that we went downtown for our 1st dinner, everything worked OK until we need to order an UBER or taxi .. nothing was working & we got stranded in a new country & environment. Mexicans are wonderful loving caring folks .. however, there are a few that are frigging evil & money hungry scum. This was NOT limited to just this OXXO store .. we were buying several items totaling approx. $30US from another OXXO store only to be told credit card reader was not working but they take American $$$ .. as we left everything on the counter & began to walk out credit card reader magically started to work again.

The prices are on par with a convenience store, and they have those quick grab and go items you're looking for. Oxxo's aren't fancy, but they have what you need. This review will be brief because I only have three tips for you: 1. ALWAYS use cash (pesos) to pay. NEVER use your credit or debit card unless it is absolutely necessary. I have heard horror stories of skimming going on, especially at Oxxo. 2. ONLY use small bills (pesos) to pay. Oxxo cashiers are notorious for not accepting large bills. They will flat-out tell you "no." The smaller the better. 3. If you're buying a beverage, always opt for the cans and bottles that are in a big bucket with ice rather than the refrigerated coolers, if offered. The drinks will be far colder in the ice bucket than the fridges.

What they do carry though will be at some of the lowest most fair prices in old town, without the hagglIng for their tequila which is unlike all the other small shops in the area. I bought a 750 ml bottle of Adictivo anejo tequila for 645 peso ($34 USD) where small shops in the area were asking upwards of $100 USD for the same tequila. Now thats what I call a deal! Overall, if you are in the Amapas area I would check this place out first for your liquor needs and if they have what you are looking for, buy it! I give this business five stars for price but four stars overall due to their limited selection.

You may not find the American things that you used to in America but if you're used to it down here and have your Google Translate in case you need it to take pictures to translate things. You'll find everything you need is here. It just may be the Mexican version. And let's be honest if you don't know by now anything you buy in Mexico is going to be a healthier version than what they sell you in America. They do not use the high fructose corn syrup in the cokes and that's why they taste so good and it's the same for every other item on the shelves. The vegetables even taste better. If you don't know now you know. The staff is very helpful at one point I couldn't find the white vinegar for cleaning my vegetables and asked a woman in my broken Spanglish and she walked me all the way over to help me find it. They also have some lovely Tres leches cake in the back left section of the store sold by the piece for like $1.50. If you haven't had it before I highly suggest you go try it. Thanks for reading my review & hope you have a fantastic day!

I recently visited the store and saw some mugs with a sign that read in Spanish, "buy two, take three (the third one the lowest price)", but when I tried to pay for them they said, "oh, not those, just the other ones", but the sign was in the middle and on top of the whole shelf. I asked if they could honor the price, but they did not (I found them 3x2 at another store anyway). Also, I paid for a pack of coasters at 4 dollars, but then realized they were at 2 packs for 6 dollars. I tried to buy the second one expecting to pay just 2 more dollars, but they did not honor that. I then tried to return the first one and repurchase 2 at 6 dollars, but they said I could not return the first one, even if I was going to buy it again. The manager even told me "If that is the way you want to interpret it, it's up to you". This was very rude coming from the manager. The whole experience made me feel I would never return to this store, and neither any of my family and friends.

The butchers are cool and I enjoy the selection of moles and seafood as well. 5. They have this luxury aisle (which is like a microcosmo of La Comer next door in one aisle). Interesting products. 6. The selling of electronics, appliances, school supplies and car gear makes it feel halfway between Walmart and Costco. 7. Solid pharmacy and sports section. 8. The bakery is godly. Seriously too notch and I think better than La Comer's bakery. Cons: 1. I got discriminated against after I paid. I went to join my 93 year old grandfather after I paid and tipped the man bagging my groceries. I was stopped by a woman in a Mega cashier uniform. She asked in Spanish about my blue swim trunks. I'm so-so in Spanish so I assumed she thought I was stealing. I emptied my pockets to show my I-Phone X and USA passport. Then asked in Spanish if she wanted to see my receipt. She brought over a coworker who spoke English. He said she thinks you stole those win trunks. I told him I get them in Vallarta in Costco. He said forget about it and let me off. I joined my grandfather waiting for me. My skin is darker and he is white so they probably could be a factor. I am mixed race Filipino-American. I was wearing my facial mask so my mustache was covered. I will have some empathy/critical thinking and say the world is anxious/on-edge from COVID. That same man appeared when we were loading our car (he did not walk us out). He apologized in English that his colleague thought I stole those shorts. I told him I would have had to come in naked then take the shorts Bruce's I have nowhere else to hide other shorts. He said she was just being stupid. In her defense, I later saw I did not remove the Kirkland tags from when I bought it at Costco yesterday. However, again, I'd have to come in naked to have stolen those trunks. And if she'd checked first instead of accusing me she'd probably find they don't carry those swim trunks here. Lazy accusations should be against store policy. I've had similar incidents happen to me around Vallarta. I know México is hurting, but it's no reason to assume a man with some color on his skin is a thief. In their defense, it seems that in both Mega and La Comer they view everyone as a potential thief. Hell they even have men with shotguns inside Costco in Vallarta. Not sure if they have robbery statistics to justify that attitude. If they don't, I suggest you give customers the benefit of the doubt and not just white customers. 2. Some cashiers or baggers can lack manners. 3. Smell the meats. I've had a cashier throw away chicken breast for me because he smelt it was old. 4. Mixed salads were mainly wilted but that's probably due to COVID. 5. Overstaffed and they don't seem too helpful when you ask a question. Again this attitude could be an offshoot of the COVID economic depression México is going through.
