I don't know what is worse having an OK experience at the barbershop or receiving an unsolicited text message and an email from the barbershop I've used once in the last four years. During my one and only visit in this barbershop, I 100% felt like an outsider. It definitely seemed to be like a bunch of regulars that go to the shop and outsiders really aren't welcome. The barber that helped me was not very friendly at all. It was very middle of the road. Basically did my haircut in silence and paid to leave. It's very ironic I got an email almost the same week that I had scheduled another appointment with my barber. For the last 3 1/2 years and for every single big life moment i've gone to a different barbershop for EVERY haircut. So to receive a message after all this time seems incredibly peculiar. I feel like it was worthwhile to actually post a review because I was so indifferent to this shop. However, I definitely have a problem getting a text message and an email almost 4 years later after using the shop once! I immediately made sure to unsubscribe, but that's really disappointing. Just because you send a text message receipt doesn't mean you should bother customers years later when they haven't visited your shop ever again. read more

First time coming here. Was able to book Aaron H and he was prompt with our scheduled appointment time. Super friendly and personable guy and skilled to boot. This was our first experience with DeSean at Men's Parlour. My son and I got, without a doubt, the best haircuts we've ever had. DeSean is the coolest cat you'll ever meet, mellow, easy-going, informative, and really listens to what you want but also lends his knowledge and tells you what he thinks is gonna look good on you. So happy we found this barber for my son. He is only 3 years old. I've tried kids hair cut places but they don't do a good job and are too expensive. Here is why we have them -Great setup! Visiting family in Simi Valley, I tried Men's Parlour for my post Covid-19 haircut. My mistake!!! I walked in with long hair and asked only for a clean-up. I walked out "scalped." JR is a decent fellow, but he didn't listen and cannot cut hair. By far, without a doubt or question, the worst haircut I've ever received. Lopsided, TOO SHORT and an uneven fade. This shop is around the corner from my house and when it opened I was happy there was finally a legit spot to get a good proper fade. My friend Todd Huber let me know about them so I was happy to give them a try. In the beginning it was cool because guys like Marco were still taking walk ins during weekdays. As time went along it was appointments only at $30 per cut. I'm okay with that but now there are other spots in Simi that provide the same quality for less. That's why I stopped coming to this establishment. I had been getting my fades consistently at Los Angeles Avenue Barber shop since I made that choice and was happy. I'm writing this review two days before my birthday and got the news from my regular person he was no longer working at that spot. I try my best to schedule appointments at other places and no luck. So I had two choices which was to find someone else at LA Ave Barbers or give Men's Parlour another chance. Went with giving Marco and his shop another chance cuz hey I like the guy why not. Pretty disappointed in that choice. I walk in sign up and Brooke who's working the desk says go with JR he's the shortest line and there's no one else waiting for him. Right on. Thanks. Forgot that this place was cash only so I went to the 7-11 close by which took no more than 5 mins to come back. Here I am at this point expecting it to be no more than 30 minutes to wait but an hour goes by. I'm a patient guy but it's harder to do when no one acknowledges you saying what's up or how much longer I should expect to wait. The whole time I'm listening to Kendrick and Trump make his victory speech on C-Span, listening to random conversations my patience grows thin and I'm done having my time wasted an hour and 15 minutes after I first walk in. So I'm gone. This place will still have others continue to support it but not me anymore. Their primary barbers are good but for me, there are other fish in the sea. I just don't get the vibe and customer service to call this spot to be my barber shop. I was willing to drop whatever they had asked as far as price is concerned but they never sold me on it. I had heard Soo many great things about this shop. My hubs was getting tired of driving to TO for his cut. I am a stylist, but I have been down due to surgery. I was excited to schedule and pay for my hubs to get a cut & beard trim. I pre-paid $60 for cut/trim/tip based on pricing I had seen online. First off the stylist didn't wash his hair. I sent him in with dirty hair so it didn't get washed twice in the same day. Second, The blend was non existent. Hubs showed him a picture of the cut and it wasn't even close. All in all I was SUPER disappointed. I wanted to chalk it up to a bad day, we all have them. But I called the shop and the guy that answered said it is what it is. Ok, I won't send him there again. Marco is one of the most talented barbers I've ever tried in the last 30 years. He understands how to make you look good even before he cuts your hair. He has a great memory too because somehow someway he remembers the great cut he gave you last and consistently delivers time after time...even with 100s of clients. He takes walk ins and most of the time you might have 2-3 people waiting in front of you...but you won't be waiting long & he's well worth the wait. Along with his high quality though is a quick hand. His average haircut time is approx 15 min. Lastly he is also great with kids. My son doesn't normally like going to get his hair cut but he has a great experience every time with Marco. He knows how to talk to them and make them feel comfortable. read more

Let me tell you about me experience there. I arrived with my two sone for a haircut on a Sunday morning. We were walking and and I was a bit crowded but when I went up to the counter the person working the "book" said they were pretty well booked up. One on the chairs was not as booked up as the others and she only had one other child's hair to cut. She looked like she was in the middle of another child's haircut. I figured maybe 30-40 minutes before they would see one of my boys. 30-40 minutes goes by. 50 60 minutes goes by. 90 minutes later she is still working on the same little boys haircut. Then another little boys jumps in the chair. 30 minutes later I have had it and walk out. This place is ridiculous. It's definitely not worth the wait. Lots of places can cut hair, better and quicker. read more
