The aftercare instructions I received were very thorough and Beth really made sure I understood what I'd be dealing with.

Weeks before a trip they're hurting again and I get referred to Dr. T and his team. When I told him about the trip he made it happen and I was able to get it done with ample time to heal. I was scared but everyone was so kind and honestly made me feel really assured. I've never gone under before but it truly felt like time travel. The ladies who prepped me were gentle and I fell right asleep and then it was done! I'm older so I was really scared about the recovery but they say if your surgeon is good you'll feel fine and twos days out I feel great! Barely any swelling and hardly any pain! I believe if I have any complications in the future I'll be taken care of here!

Dismissive and lacking empathy and now having long term issues due to this negligence. Had wisdom…read moreteeth surgery (all 4) in the fall. I had severe pain after the surgery, went back once to be dismissed with "yea it's going to hurt" and a second time a couple days later to find out I had an infection and dry socket (which I had to tell the doctor I had, rather than him asking me questions to figure out it was dry socket). I consistently felt like my concerns about my pain were being dismissed, I was not being treated with empathy or concern, and worst of all I felt like I had to fight to be heard. Maybe the infection and dry socket were just my own bad luck, but I do want to note I did everything by the book after the procedure during the healing period (did not use straws, did my washes, ate carefully, etc). Anyway I started a 7 day antibiotic treatment for the infection. After the 7 days, I expressed that I felt mostly better but still feel like there is an infection or that something is just not right and I'm still having pain, on my right upper tooth in particular, and he dismissed that saying "no it looks fine, yeah it'll hurt" and then just shrugged. Fast forward to today, I recently had a CT scan after a couple months of right-sided sinus pain and pressure (on the same side I expressed concern about) showing severe blockage and inflammation, likely due to that initial infection that had never cleared from the extraction. So it is frustrating to know I am now dealing with a longer term issue due to his dismissal of my concerns. An argument could be made that I should've came back when I started having sinus issues but in all honesty, he made me feel so dismissed, frustrated and uncomfortable I did not want to return to this clinic. Two stars however because the other staff who took care of me, such as on the day of my surgery and then to check me in during my post-op visits, were super super nice and friendly, and made me feel comfortable, and made sure I was informed. Unfortunately I forgot their names but I want to make sure to give credit where credit is due. I appreciated the transparency on how much everything would cost too.

This organization was evasive and deceitful with their presentation and explaining insurance…read morecoverage for consultations. Once my "consultation" was completed I was then given a document to sign regarding the consultation (not before with the other paperwork) and the person behind the receptionist's counter makes it seem like signing the document was nothing and just a normal regime, so I signed! Also, prior to being seen I was given paperwork to complete (Note: the consultation document was not included within this paperwork) it included a page to enter credit card information which I definitely did not complete. They also tried to schedule an appointment for the actual surgery and gave me two prescriptions for the surgery which I declined to schedule until I received information from my insurance company. They told me that they would get a breakdown from my insurance company and get back to me within two weeks, it has been three weeks and I have not heard from this business. Once I received my $271 consultation invoice I contacted the billing/receptionist who stated they have no idea what any insurance covers but at the time the document needed a signature it was certainly not presented in that manner. It is kind of odd being in business for so long that they have no idea what any insurance covers, even an estimate. If you what a clear understanding of what is covered CHECK PRIOR WITH YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY and ASK PLENTY OF QUESTIONS or LOOK FOR DENTISTS, ORAL SURGEONS, ORTHODONISTS THAT OFFER FREE CONSULTATIONS or ORGANIZATIONS that are just UPFRONT, HONEST and CLEAR! There were also issues with their imaging machinery. The dental assistants had me in and out the unit at least 4 times and the machine had to be turned off and on at least two times before they could get it working and get an image.

On two previous occasions over the years, Dr. Mennitt extracted two upper wisdom teeth, each of…read morewhich was a seamless in/out procedure. Based upon those experiences, I would not have thought that a return visit to have the bottom two wisdoms extracted would be a nightmare. Dr. Mennitt failed to keep me fully sedated under general anesthesia such that I became fully mentally aware during the sewing of my gums. As much as the anesthesia would allow, I physically struggled to let him know that I was in great distress, and I also attempted to the best of my ability to say three times "it hurts" all the while trying to move my mouth away from the source of excruciating pain. Mennitt kept on sewing. Apparently during my struggle I bit the inside of my lower lip which was pointed out to me by his assistant when I came to. Apparently, being unable to access my mouth at this point, further sedation was rendered as I was again put back out. I do not use Novocain relative to issues of a history of abuse. I was not asked to update my medical info even though it had been over 2 yrs. since my last appt. While Dr. Mennitt was inserting the drug line into my hand and while applying the drug(s) to anesthetize me, he was not wearing gloves; the same held true for his assistant when she reached into my mouth to remove the blood soaked gauze at the end of the procedure. While I was awake, I saw no one in the room use a mask, and I can only hope these items were employed during the oral surgery. Clearly, there was a failure to follow standard of care infection control protocol. There was no way anyone who was present in the room during the surgery would not have known I was in extreme distress. Based on his online bio & decades of experience, never would I have expected this to occur. Unbelievable to me was that Dr. Mennitt showed not a modicum of decency to approach me after the surgery to discuss what had happened. During the 3 appts., the only time I've ever seen Dr. Mennitt was before the surgeries, never after. During the two prior surgeries, unlike this one, Dr. Mennitt did not deliver the anesthetic. There was no charge on the bill for general anesthesia unlike the previous bills. Mennitt has a petulant demeanor and his communication skills are wanting. Realizing that I had never exercised due diligence in investigating Dr. Mennitt's online records, I searched the Maryland Judiciary Case Search database. I discussed with my general dentist who referred me to Dr. Mennitt the records under his name. Had I been aware of those records at the time of the initial referral, I would not have used his services.
