Great course. Scored an 8am tee time during a holiday week by calling the night before! Wow!…read more We showed up early to rent clubs and get balls and tees etc. They had two bags of clubs for us. Between the two bags, it wasn't a full set. We purchased used balls at a dollar a pop and new balls for five bucks a sleeve. Ten tees to a bag was only a dollar, so we grabbed two of those. The shop has some merchandise and snacks. Since we had time, we grabbed a large bag of range balls which cost $8. The pro shop worker let us buy 9 holes for three people and said we could decide if we wanted to do the other nine holes later. Three players for nine holes was $20. Not bad! We asked for a scorecard and headed out to the range. Check the scorecard for a layout of the course. The range was empty. We hit a few balls there. I like how they have distance markers on the range. We skipped the putting range. The greens were well kept but wet from recent rains. The fairways were gorgeous but slow because of the rain. The carts were gas powered. I've never experienced that! No gps or electronic scoring. No windshields, so bugs were all in my face. No towel service either. By the end of the day, we had a great time, my shoes were soaked, and I managed to play like a decent golfer with a 1, 5, 5 hybrid, 7, two 9s, a sand wedge and a putter. Lol. Not a full set, but manageable. Bathroom had no light, had to pee with the door open just to be able to see. The course moved fast. We were done in less than four hours. Only two major water hazards. Lost a few cheap balls, nothing major. Overall, a great time. Bring your own gear, a flashlight and eye protection and you'll do fine. The offering is minimal but keeps cost down. Could use a real restaurant and a snack and drink cart on the course. However, they do a great job maintaining the course, so I would recommend a visit.

Haven't played Davis in a number of years, and was pleasantly surprised. The previous condition of…read morethe course was nothing to rave about, but it is obvious that things have changed. Although certainly not the country club quality, the fairways are delineated from the rough, and we found the greens in particular to be exceptional. The price is very reasonable, at $27 for seniors, cart included. They do not take tee times, so you just show up, but when we played early recently, this was not an issue. By later in the day, the course was getting a fair amount of play, and deservedly so. We did not eat at the restaurant on this occasion, and so cannot speak to that. However, having played in tournaments at Davis in previous years, we found the bar and restaurant to be more than adequate. The only minor criticism that we had of the course is that it lacks yardage markers. There are no yardage stakes in the fairways, distances identified by markers in the fairways are lacking. Overall we had a good experience, and would definitely recommend it. It's off the beaten path, but obviously well-known to locals, who seem to be a patronizing it. The course itself is very open and most areas, and is located in a scenic area, with views of the valley to the west. For a change of pace, we will occasionally return to Davis. Again, our only recommendation would be to have yardage markers on the holes. It's a simple enough accommodation, and as not everyone has a personal rangefinder, it would be of help to the average golfer.

We've eaten here many times in the past 5 years. I'd rate it a 4.5 if it wasn't for the thievery they are now practicing on their customers... So, at the end of an always-enjoyable meal, instead of an itemized bill (which I believe is REQUIRED BY LAW), the waiter just presented a hand-held payment device stating NOTHING but the total. We demanded an itemized bill, which they took 5 minutes to create. Now, this itemized bill amount was a bit less, which could've been an honest mistake, but really, do they EVER make a mistake in the customer's favor? As normal, we leave a 20% pre-tax tip (one of the reasons why we needed the itemized bill), but when entering the credit card info, the machine "suggested" different tip amounts, and THERE is where the blatant scam occurrs! So, on a pre-tax bill of $78, what is 20%? It's $15.60. The post tax bill was something around 84.25, and 20% of THAT would be $16.85. But this hand-held "electronic grift machine" says that 20% is.....$21?? In what alternate universe is THIS possible? The obvious answer is that they are trying to scam people out of another $5, maybe $10, or even more! When did they decide to fleece their customers for petty increases? Do they think that fiscal dishonesty is a valid business model? Daheq are they THINKING?? Well, right now I'm filing a complaint with the NY State Attorney General's office. I'm disappointed, because I really liked the place despite it being located on a golf course, but it will be a cold day in hell when I'll give any business to a thief again! If anybody decides to eat there, DEMAND an itemized bill, and expect that they WILL try to fleece you.
