Sometimes mustard seems too thin to me, but Mendo Mustard is perfectly thick, but still spreadable.

Princess Seafood Market - A dozen fresh oysters

Princess Seafood Market

Princess Seafood has a market and restaurant around the bend from each other. The market itself has…read morepretty much the same menu, but all the seating is outdoors under some tents and you order at the register where they also sell fresh seafood by the pound. Overall, I was pretty impressed and satisfied by the quality of the food I got. Pricing isn't cheap, but in line with expectations for seafood in an area with a lot of visitors, though portion sizes do veer on the smaller side. Kimchi Crab Cakes (2.75/5): I wanted to like these more than I did, but unfortunately I just thought the kimchi flavor was pretty lackluster and also tamped down the sweetness of the crab. The crab cakes are mostly crab, which is nice, but I'd skip this one. Grilled Oysters w/ Lemon Garlic Butter (4/5): Fresh oysters grilled to order, what's not to be happy about. The garlic was fresh and the oysters weren't fishy; all around solid option. Clam Chowder (4/5): A nice clam chowder. Nothing crazy and good amount of clams. Exactly what you'd expect. Crab Roll (4.25/5): Definitely my favorite item we tried! Super generous with the amount of crab with a bit of creamy mayo and slices of fresh tomato. The bread looks really pale, but it was actually a satisfying fresh, soft roll.

I am so obsessed with this place! When we first arrived I noticed that all the workers were women -…read morenot sure if that's always the case but it felt so badass!! There were three of us and we ordered the fresh crab rolls. We couldn't stop saying "OMG" because they were that good. The bread was buttery and toasted to perfection and they were incredibly generous with the crab. The clam chowder was also amazing - not too thick, super flavorful, and filled with the perfect amount of seafood. We shared 6 bbq oysters (3 lemon garlic and 3 Calabrian chili), and they were so good. To finish - we ordered the spicy prawns with garlic bread, which were delicious as well, though we were already so full by then. We ordered our food first and then grabbed a table outside which made for a super relaxed vibe. I would 100% come back whenever I'm in the area and will definitely be telling all my friends about it. I was so impressed!!

We discovered this place a few years ago on a jaunt to Mendocino for our first anniversary. Since…read morethen I've purchased online a few times and I just flat out love this store. It's an actual store in Ft Bragg so if you go visit the area, definitely stop in, but you can also purchase online which is amazing for such a small Mom n'Pop shop. What is it you ask? Well basically it's a cooking store. But kind of a unique one. They do sell books and spices, jams, jellies, and all that kind of stuff, and if I recall correctly even things like spatulas, tools, bowls etc. But the real gems for me are their 'pre mixed/packaged' items. They offer a ton of these...some are branded packages from the manufacturers but some they actually mix themselves for you to buy. We're talking basically things like pre mixed dressings, just add buttermilk or sour cream or olive oil and balsamic; pre mixed soups where you just add the cream or milk and the lobster or crab for something like a crab bisque; pre-packaged cake mixes and cookie or brownie mixes where all you do is add the eggs and butter and milk or similar. Kind of like Betty Crocker but better, and many of their items also have nutritional information on it too. I have gotten a few of their pre-packaged cookie mixes and I love them...the snickerdoodles are my absolute favorites. So if you love to bake or cook and want to make things 'homemade' but maybe don't feel like spending 1/2 the day prepping something for dinner, or want to make cookies or a cake but don't want to be out mixing the flour and sugar and all that, definitely check this place out either locally or online. I plan to get a few xmas gifts there this year as well. I believe it's run by a husband and wife team. Super cute idea, I only wish that I'd have thought of it!! We'll be in Mendocino for NYE this year so I can't wait to check out this place in person again.

I love kitchen stores and this one was awesome! Check out their website! The only shop we bought things from during our visit to Fort Bragg. Dr. Pepper BBQ sauce! I had no idea it existed. Not to mention lavender honey that actually smelled like lavender-didn't care that it was $25, it was mine! Highly recommend this shop!
