My family and I visited this family owned establishment twice during our 1 week stay in Verchaix during April 2012. The food was unbelievable. It's actually a home where the lower level has been converted into a restaurant. Chef Lieu probably cooks for his family in the same kitchen. I think this will be the closest to French home cooking that I will ever have in my life. My son got a beef patty medium rare (looked like a hamburger patty) that was incredibly flavorful. The beef melted in my mouth. Unfortunately, when I wanted to order it during our second visit it turned out that it is a kids menu item. I wanted to order two for myself. I definitely recommend La Mendigote.
