Mendez Painting exceeded our expectations! When we purchased the home, it had not been painted or worked on for at least 12 years! In a salt-air climate, the damage, wood rot, and disrepair was extensive. We researched many companies and chose Mendez because of the quality of work we have seen with the houses they painted for our neighbors and when talking to them, our neighbors had nothing but high praise! As we looked at the beautiful job they did on their houses and compared it to work from other sources and found that Mendez had the smoothest and most detailed work. As well, the houses we saw that were painted years ago have stood the test of time and still look stunning! Our neighborhood has many historical houses and ours is the 'oldest on the block', having been built in 1804. Mendez painting is very aware and careful about their work and they really came through on the details. As well, what they quoted us was true and we didn't have to deal with any financial surprises. The team was knowledgeable, professional, clean and responsive. They scraped and power washed and used quality oil-based primer, letting everything dry completely before adding any layers, ensuring durability which is essential in our climate! They power sanded so everything looks smooth and they used the perfect primer to lend the main color a beautiful depth and richness. It looks better than the paint sample! Anything we had questions about Florentino answered quickly and was responsive to any additional requests. They have excellent carpenters and our carpenter filled any gaps to protect from water seepage. We had window frames and sills that were rotted and coming off in chunks and the carpenter seamlessly repaired them according to historical requirements. Very impressive! I am a stickler for punctuality, and Mendez Painter Inc exceeded every expectation I had. Florentin's team arrived exactly at 7:00 AM every single day and worked until 6:00 PM. They tackled a massive project--living room, dining room, kitchen, upstairs hallway, entryway staircase, a large downstairs room, the main bathroom, and three bedrooms. They handled all the walls, trim, ceilings, and every interior door in those areas in just 3.5 days. For context, I received other estimates that were 25% higher in cost and predicted an 8-day timeline! The speed did not mean a rushed job; it was a result of master-level skill. They hand-painted all of the trim lines where they meet the walls and ceilings without using a single inch of tape, and the lines are absolutely perfect. Their prep work is what sets them apart: they scraped the ceilings, walls, and trim, and used a vacuum-powered sander that left virtually no dust in my home. Most impressively, they performed extensive drywall repairs I didn't even ask for just to ensure a brand-new finish. In the main bathroom, they went above and beyond by performing significant drywall restoration on a large part of the ceiling and the areas around the shower where the walls were in total disrepair. They even took down a large mirror because they knew it would look better to paint the entire wall behind it rather than risk the old color peaking through the edges. Our house was easily the roughest-looking one on the street when Mendez started. The old paint was failing, vines had taken over the siding, and the amount of prep work required was enormous. Mendez didn't take one shortcut. They scraped the entire house, removed years of heavy vine growth, power washed everything, and then waited two full days for the house to dry before applying a high-quality oil-based primer. Instead of rushing to finish, they let the primer cure for a full week before applying two full finish coats of paint. They never rushed the job. Through every step of the way, Mendez communicated with us about everything that was happening. And his crew was at our house from before 7am until it was dark some days. Their patience and attention to detail is exactly why the finished product is so incredible. Our home doesn't just look freshly painted -- it looks like an entirely different house. We've already had several neighbors stop to compliment it after just the first day. They can't believe it's the same house. In May 2021, Florentin Mendez came and estimated an outdoor paint job (paint one side of house, paint new soffit/fascia in back of house, patch and paint an interior kitchen wall, and sand and varnish our deck rails). We called 4 painters to estimate the job, 3 returned our calls and showed up to estimate. 2 actually came through with an estimate. Florentin's estimate came almost immediately after he looked at the job. Not the least expensive but moderately priced and he listed for us what they would do to prep/paint etc satisfying us that his crew knew how to do a good job. During the pandemic spring it was VERY had to find contractors of any kind so we were very happy when Florentin came and produced an estimate and time frame so quickly. Unfortunately, it rained heavily during the spring and much of June/July--so the job started late. There were a few delays in returning to complete the job but they did as they promised, even working all day on a Saturday to make up for rain delays. There were two extras we added but the additional charges were reasonable. Prep was careful and cleanup was done well. We think the final product looks very good. read more

We became interested in Mendez Painters when we saw the work that they had done to other houses in our city. Of note was the way that they strip paint down, focus on the detail work and trim, and produce a finished product that makes an old building look like new. The last time we had our house painted (9 years ago), the owner promised the moon but did not deliver -- he only had a couple of guys working on our house for a short period of time -- and he would drop by to pressure them to finish more quickly. In contrast, Florentino provided a crew of 6+ guys to work on our house, including stripping the paint, power washing, prepping, caulking, carpentry, repairing/replacing wood or shingles as needed, and then doing the final painting. Florentino was on site every day, either overseeing and managing the work, or pitching in himself. I have never seen better prep work before painting. Scraped the entire house, power washed,primed and put on 2 finish coats. He and his crew are very meticulous about their work. They don't rush and the finished product is great. He always asked as the job was progressing if we were satisfied. Part way through the job we had him install some vinyl trim which was no problem for him. Their pricing was very competitive, but what really set them apart was the quality, they used an oil-based primer (which others skipped) and top-tier paint, not the lower-grade commercial versions some competitors quoted. Florentine and his team did a fantastic job painting our home's exterior, deck, and trimming. They also painted the wrought Iron railings on our deck, stairs, gate, and fence. They scraped the old paint off the house first. Then they power washed my house before priming, painting, and replacing any rotting wood. Florentin Mendez recently completed painting my 50 year old home and made it look like new. We are very pleased at the job he and his crew have done. They we're very hard working, reliable and completed the work in the time frame they had promised, all at a reasonable cost. They spent a couple of days scraping off loose paint, then came back and power washed it, getting off any remaining pieces. After a few days of drying time, they returned to prime it and then returned for another two days to give it two more coats of highly rated paint. Mendez Painters did an astonishing job on my home in Marblehead. Their price was extremely reasonable, and they went above and beyond on the details. The whole house was scraped, caulked, and painted. They focused on the details (like my antique windows) to make sure everything was done right. They also repaired or replaced all my antique gutters that had seen better days. The price was the price they quoted. They started when they told me they would. (and it was just a couple weeks). We hired Mendez Painting to paint our house since they have done an excellent job on two houses in our neighborhood. The crew showed up when expected and did a thorough job of scraping, sanding, power washing and caulking. The house paint job came out terrific the first time but I had messed up on the color and provided them with the wrong color number. Unfortunately, I could not live my mistake so they agreed to repaint with the my initial color choice. The price was very very reasonable given my error.
