Absolute crooks. Left our car there for replacing a censor, odometer went up 24 miles.... They absolute gouge with their prices. We've had our car in there a few times unfortunately and every time it goes in, it comes out with a new problem, or they find a problem that wasn't there before. read more

Their phone system hung up on me 3 times, when I finally talked to a receptionist she transferred me to a line that hung up on me again. Unfortunately we had a recall on our truck and had to put it on a ferry to Juneau. We had emailed a list of things we wanted done which some were not done but they decided to replace things that we didn't ask for and way over charged for them. We didn't ask to have our windshield wipers changed since we had just changed them. Two weeks after getting our truck back the drivers side wiper blade and flies off the truck as I'm going down the road. We then had to purchase the whole mechanism. We will never do business with this company again. Too many things were over charged. It does not take an hour to change an air filter. read more

If I could give them a zero I would! I will never do business with Mendenhall Auto!! My mom had her 2015 Honda CR-V serviced there and they quoted her for a brake pad replacement, then installed 4 calipers, 4 disks, and 4sets of pads. without notifying her and stuck her with a $1300.00 bill. this seems to be a common practice with Mendenhall Auto. She did have them put a caliper and disk in a box and brought it home. I inspected it and found that caliper was lightly corroded and with little to no effort I pulled the pads from the caliper. A wire brush did fine to clean the corrosion off of the caliper and pads so that they would work properly. A caliper replacement was completely unnecessary and costly. YOU WILL NEVER GET OUR BUSNESS AGAIN MENDENHALL AUTO!!!! For my money Fred's Auto is a well experienced and honest shop to take your foreign car. read more

I just had the nicest experience with Art at the Subaru Service Center at Mendenhall Auto. My 2004 Forester key fobs had started to stop working, and the car alarm was going off repeatedly while using just the key. I spent days looking for solutions online and repeatedly did all the steps to reprogram the fobs. Then the car wouldn't start randomly AND the alarm went off. I got the car out to Mendenhall Auto and it continued it's bizarre behavior. I left it there for the day. They managed to squeeze it in, and figured out it was a switch for the dome light that was interfering with the sensors someway. I just called and Art told me they had fixed it all. Excellent service, good communication and a considerate attitude. Thank you Art and Mendenhall Auto. read more

If I could post zero I would. Have bought our 4 last cars/ trucks from them but never again. They did recall work on our seatbelt, for which we had no problems, and as soon as they worked on them, we've had nothing but problems. Passenger seatbelt no longer works. Made an apt. to have it fixed, three weeks till they could get us in, dropped off truck night before appt, took 3 days with us going in daily to check on it, no calls, only to be told they have to order a new seatbelt. Also having work done on spare tire as it was seized up, they ordered part, now told that they have to order a "bolt"...REALLY.!??! We will not be purchasing a new car from them. Friendly service at the front, but they overcharge, aren't honest and don't do quality work. Oil changes are cheap (for Juneau standards) but they don't make appointments and sometimes won't change your oil the same day! ALWAYS double check your bill because they will overcharge! They also make false statements about what is wrong with your car. Take it to another mechanic to get a second opinion and a price quote. This is a dishonest, profit-seeking business, and there are much better mechanics in Juneau. read more

I own two Subarus and have been taking them for service and repair to Mendenhall Auto for years. Their service department, headed by Art, is outstanding. They are very customer-service-oriented and are happy to discuss with you repairs/maintenance issues and figure out the best solution for YOU, not necessarily what the check-off forms require. They even offer courtesy shuttle service so dropping off your car or picking it up is very easy. All of my friends who own Subarus have the same high opinion of Art and the service department! read more

I am editing my original post below. I gave them the worst review I could, however, management finally returned my call and told me sales would cover the repair. They also apologized for their service. All along the way I felt I patiently asked for good service and finally a decision maker was able to call me back and provide a good service. Still wish I hadn't gone through the ordeal. Happy it has worked out. Okay Service Sales: told me they would match the interest rate on a quote I brought in from my bank. At the signing after we had worked through all the sales and some paperwork, they told me the best interest rate they could offer was a full 1% higher than my bank quote. Service: Before making my first payment, after a couple weeks of buying my fairly new truck, it broke down. I called and explained, and they told me to bring the vehicle in... and when I brought it in they told me I needed to make an appointment... earliest was five day wait. Since I had recently purchased from them I thought they would be willing to treat me well and make me happy so I continued with them.... Diagnosis, a faulty battery. (I was promised from sales that a thorough inspection had been done by their service department before my purchase) They quoted me $275 for a battery only, no labor. So I called around and found a reputable battery in a local auto parts store for $140 and told the technician of the better price. He said that he would like to call them and confirm it was correct. At the end of the day I got a call saying they had put the new battery in. I gave NO APPROVAL to do the work and they proceeded without my approval. This is illegal! In addition, they ignored my question and gave me a poor answer when I asked if there was a parasitic draw on the battery. All they said was when they plugged it into the computer it said bad battery. I asked them to confirm if there was a draw... which they never did because they proceeded with the work without my approval. In reality... I hope the problem is fixed.... Finally, when I picked up my vehicle they had lost my clicker automatic door opener. Ugh, one thing after another even after I had really complained about their service. I complained the whole way along and was treated poorly from the beginning. They did nothing to make me happy I was working with them. It appears they will gouge you at every opportunity, and will flat out lie to you, and will only do what it takes to get your money and not your approval. read more

Our experience with Mendenhall Auto Center has been horrendous. We sent our 2009 Chevy Silverado over by the ferry from Sitka, on August 22. They knew it was coming over with a computer problem, as diagnosed by Foreign Auto here in Sitka, but didn't look at it for 2 weeks. All communication has been initiated by us since. They've lied about status & time frames. It has now been 56 DAYS at their service center, with no end in sight. We have contacted GM.com, had a phone interview and were told we would be contacted in 24 hrs. That didn't happen, and then 10 days ago we got an email, asking for a phone number & time they could call. It was given to them, but no call came. Obviously GM doesn't care about their customer service is non existence. We're angry, and so frustrated. No rental has been provided, as stated it would be in the trucks owners manual should the repair not be resolved in 30 days. Legal action will be our next step. My recommendation is to NEVER do business with MENDENHALL AUTO CENTER. read more

Deal with these jokers at your own risk. They are notoriously dishonest! They kept my 09 Silverado pickup with 33K miles for 64 days and claimed the vehicle had been in a flood causing catastrophic electrical failure. When we complained to GM they claimed it was at the dealership because I refused to pick it up. $3500 later I picked it up and will get rid of it ASAP. Be very careful.
