I purchased countertop material and a kitchen sink from Menards West Wichita, Ks. I used as an installer referenced and displayed at that store of and by a Jarom Reeves, dba JRConstruction. After he quit working at my residence, I tried on multiple occasions in contacting him for a receipt of the work he had done and answers to issues I had regarding his installation work, he was not responding. I also approached the Menards store in person on multiple trips since they still were in contact with him and continued and continue to display him as a referenced installer in their cabinet/appliance department (as of July 30, 2025). Finally, I received an email from that Menards store claiming 'you (implying me) made racist statements.... that we wasn't responding to you due to this' (Menards use of improper English noted). This was a general statement of claims of 'racist statements' on the Menards electronic domain (email), and by a Menards employee apparently on their time clock at the time of the dissemination of that email. I immediately, the next day, asked them in detail what exactly I said were 'racist statements'? I have also asked their corporate office in Wisconsin specifically in detail what I said were these statements. As of today, there has been no response to my request of the accused claims against me. On July 30, 2025, I went to that Menards store to ask in person, the manager of what in 'detail' I said were 'racist statements'. The acting manager at that time was a 'Darrell' , as Justin Wetter (the current manager) was apparently not there. 'Darrell' used the same excuse that Wetter made in his email to me, that it was made by a person no longer at Menards. 'Darrell' said he would have to end the conversation, that it was a legal issue. He wrote down my email and phone number. Either he did not pursue (probably not surprisingly, as indicated by his demeanor to me) or their legal department is refusing to reply, as I have not received the requested detail to date of what I was accused of making. Since Menards still has (as of July 30, 2025) a business relationship (i.e. has him displayed as a reference installer in their cabinet/appliance area) with Reeves (dba JR Construction Co), it is presumed they are currently in contact with him (as the email indicated he is presumed to have been the one making the general claim that I made racist statements). And, Menards is/was an accomplice by delaying the response/no response to me, as they indicated in their email (in the attached) 'that we wasn't responding to you due to this' . Their reasoning for no reply for my request of the detail of racist statements they claimed I made is that the manager that initiated that email is no longer with Menards. Regardless of which Menards employee spread claims accusing me of making racist statements, it was a Menards employee, not on his or her personal time. The burden is on Menards to produce the detail I am requesting as they initiated this general claim of me making 'racist statements', otherwise Menards is making (via that email to me) false claims that is defamatory towards me. It is also important to note I took the installer, Jarom Reeves (dba JR Construction) to Sedgwick County, KS small claims court in January 2025 regarding his defective installation work. I was awarded a summary judgement against Reeves. The judgement became delinquent. I had to seek garnishment, it was paid I am presuming by him and not received by me until June 2025. I write this with regret, as I had put trust in Menards and their business relationship(s) in spending my hard earned money. I now will only visit them and buy only their sale items (minimal margins, if any). I hope other members of the public will take heed to my disappointment and not be victims of disrespect and defamatory treatment by this Menards store and now as evidenced by no response from their corporate legal department, Menards in general. read more

We have been to stores in Kansas City but mostly Wichita. There are two reasons we stopped shopping there. The lack of quality products, their stuff, especially house brands, are just pure crap. Number one reason, we are sick and freaking tired of their 11% rebate scam. Couple of rebates a year is a rebate. An 11% rebate that runs every month is nothing but a pure scam. We prefer going to Sutherland's, no scams and much more honest. read more

I was helped out by several workers while I walked through the store. I got to the checkouts and Taylor was the cashier. Very friendly from the start. I noticed the Christmas decor rang up at a higher price than I thought. I told him it said it was 7.99 each on the shelf and he radioed someone to verify. It actually came up to be 5.99 each instead. He had another worker come over and they helped correct the price. Thank you for being so kind and considerate at your store. The whole correction took less than a minute and it seemed like I didn't even hold up the line :) read more

Why put the lumber desk at the back and service desk at the front? the service ice desk can't look up up an order to exchange anything. had to walk from the front to the back to order back to the front to pay drive around around to the back to pickup items, realized the lumber desk sold the wrong wrong thing. walk to the front to find out they couldn't ldn't look up my purchase without the receipt. I had to walk back out to the lumber to get the receipt walk back to the front to the service desk then walk back to the lumber yard. that is as dumb as it gets. why should should I have to walk so much to do so little. kick me in the nards if I I have to go back to this place. read more

I went in to get help finding a part for a lift pull on faucet that plus the drain. The guy working AT PLUMBING stops me mid sentence and says sorry I don't know anything about plumbing. I was surprised since he was behind that desk and asked if he can tell me who would, kirk maybe a retired plumber working there, and he said there isn't anyone. Ok.... I'll go to Home Depot or Lowes and I bet I can find someone there who can at least try. I'm disappointed they have someone working in that dept that is I knowledgable or not trained. And it's hard to believe NO ONE in the store could have helped me. It wasn't a difficult issue. read more

I started shopping Menards in SD over 20 years ago. Now living in KS I don't know how they stay in business. The "customer service" is horrible. My pre-teen daughter and I went into the store to find some discounted siding for her chicken coop. We grabbed some other items that we needed and proceeded to the clearance bin. The sign says $12 each. We spent 20 or 30 minutes moving sheets of plywood until we found some decent looking siding sheets. They had been painted, but it didn't matter we just wanted cheap. We took 3 of the 5 or so that were there and made our way up to the front to check out. They rang up at around $50 each. I told them were I found them, so they called a manager. He came over and I told him the story and digging them out. He says "they maybe painted but they're still in good shape" I just stared at him and reiterated what the sign said. He then told me "sometimes our guys get lazy and just put stuff in there"! WTF, how is this my problem. Hire better people, your sign said $12 and we busted our butts digging through it all! We just left everything. Between the customer service and their "great deals" that you have to send in a rebate to get, I'll take my business elsewhere. read more

This is a huge clean store. They have the best lighting selection of the big box stores. If you buy lumber , I wish you luck trying to find what you purchase. It is a totally self service area. The reason I give them 1 stars is there return policy. You Must have receipt, you need to insert all your credit/debit cards to find the purchase. Then roll through each month of receipts. And if the item is over 90 days old after you go through the exercise if finding the receipt they give you store credit. From now on Home Depot and Lowe's will get my business. read more

The whole reason you pay a delivery fee is to have your whole order delivered! I ordered interior doors for my home with rebates, because I've already spent over $25000 in this store over the last couple of months. ( Don't get me started on the lumber I ordered on line.... which I also paid to have delivered. I accidentally ordered wood the was special cut, I got a delivery confirmation it was going to take 3 weeks to get.... I called right away and tried to cancel it.... by the time I got thru to someone it was around 3hrs. They told me if I wanted to cancel I would have to pay a restocking fee!! I said you don't even have the materials!! Manager said " they've already pull them and that now he would have to figure out where to stock LUMBER in a lumber yard!! It all came down to $130 or so and principal.....)This order include a door from the garage to the home which we need to keep our house warm while doing drywall. The delivery department told me the doors would be in on January 11, on January 7 I get a call letting me know my doors were in however, one of them was broken and needed to be re-ordered. I asked if they would deliver the doors that are not damaged so we could install them, they said it wouldn't be a problem however they would have to charge me a second delivery fee to bring out the damage door when it was replaced. I asked why I would be punished for something I didn't break! His reply that "THEY DIDNT BREAK IT"..... I asked who broke it?? He said "their distributor!" What a bunch of BS! I've spoken with the delivery department "manager" and ass-istant store manager, I asked them both if this is there store policy, which they won't answer.... they offer use their truck so I could pick it up..... that's not the point!!!! Horrible customer service in the wood department. We have tried several times, but each time those working the order desk are condescending and rude. If you ask any questions they respond as though the are talking down to you. You have to tell someone behind the counter what you want, they print out a sheet without a price and when you ask the price they act offended. Then you have to pay for the items without ever seeing the product. Then you have to go outside and try and find the product, and when it is not where it should be, you cannot find anyone to help you. So frustrating. Will be shopping Lowes or Ace from now on. read more

We bought a $300 walk behind trimmer from the menards at Webb and 96th in Wichita, KS last week. After pulling it out of the box, adding appropriate gas, and following all the set up instructions, it does not start. It is defective out of the box. When we tried to return it (about 10 days after purchasing it) the general manager, Andrew, informed us it's their policy not to process returns or exchanges on items once gas has been added. It's a gas powered machine. The only way to find out it is broken is to put gas in it. He informed us it was not his problem, they have a policy and we'd have to take it to a repair shop. We used to spend a lot of money with Menards, but that is no way to treat Customers when the item is clearly defective. We'll be taking our business elsewhere from now on. Buyer beware - Menard's return policy is not to do them. read more

We are building a tiny house and have lots of questions, there was a knowledgeable and friendly employee in every section and if, when we arrived in that section, he or she was busy with another customer, we were tracked down immediately after to see if we were doing ok. I'm telling you, this is THE PLACE. We will probably end up purchasing all of our materials here. So excited to have found this store. read more

I use to prefer Menards to Home Depot, but my recent visit was horrible. It says on their website that masks are required! HaHa. I was one of approximately 12 customers in the entire store wearing a mask (hundreds of people were in there). Also, some staff were not wearing masks. I asked the person wiping off the carts about requiring masks, and he said no they weren't required just suggested. I almost walked out, but I was there for a purpose. While there I decided to purchase tomato cages. I was paying and noticed one was broken so I asked if I or they could just exchange it at the register and was told no I had to go to the exchange counter - on the complete other side of the store. Stock numbers, everything is the same. I went to the exchange counter and was told I had to go back to the garden center and get another one. Normally, they would ask a staff person to bring one up for me. I am 73 years old, mentioned it to the clerk, and he said we're short of staff. While in the garden area, I saw at least 4 staff just standing there visiting. They have lied on their website (everyone must wear masks) and on commercials I have seen on TV, and are now treating their customers like they are doing us a favor.
