I find that the employees ar most helpful. Having a SKU# for an item is helpful but even without it, they can usually find the item.

Very rude plumbing associate (women) on 2/7 @ 8am, if your not customer service friendly don't take a position just for a job!

I've never had a problem the staff is very friendly and security greets you as you come in the store day and night security. I totally love this store. On 1/05/2024 @ 8:15pm I received the worst customer service and lack of pride, in her work in the plumbing department. I guess she thought that eating her corn chips was more important than assisting me when I have a business account at Menards that I'm now about to close because I get better service at Home Depot and Lowe's. I bought the bohdi floor lamp by Patriot Lighting but it falsely advertised that it had a dimmable rotary switch online. When I get home after driving 20 minutes from Chicago to their Hammond location. I built it for another 20 minutes only to find out it wasn't dimmable. The the next day I spoke to customer service at Patriot Lighting and Jessica said that wasn't a feature and wasn't sure why it said that online. She then told me Patriot Lighting was an in-house brand by Menards. So why is it being falsely advertised if it's made by Menards. This was the most expensive floor lamp at Menards and it did not do what I paid top dollar for. $200 before rebate. I need dim lighting and adjustable lighting for my space. When I called menards all they (Andrew) said they could do was apologize I wasn't offered any compensation whatsoever. I don't want any handouts but I'm certainly not into driving around wasting gas and time only to be mislead. This is classic bait and switch tactic. I ordered over two hundred bags of concrete online to be delivered. Delivery was $69. Option on website and delivery confirmed with employee at Hammond store was for drop in garage up driveway. On date of delivery, driver arrived over three hours past time promised. No phone call was received regarding this, so upon calling store, I was connected with some Neanderthal who could only respond with one word answers (yep, nope). Driver finally arrived and could not place pallets inside garage because of the height of his forklift. If this is not an option, why include it in your delivery? I have over five hundred $$ worth of material dropped on my driveway. I sure hope it doesn't turn into a mound of concrete until I'm ready to use it!!!! Piss poor customer service!!!!!! 5-4-2018 Called the mill work dept around 9 to ask about a patio door, that another store said the computer showed that they might have in inventory. Bill was super helpful he asked if he could cal me back, I gave him the number of the patio door and my phone number. He called back in about a hour, yes they had the door but the brick moulding was broken or missing, (that was fine I was going to change that anyways). Bill's hours were done at noon but I could talk to Jared when I got there. It was a 122 one way mile drive to get to this Menards arrived about 545. Stood around the mill work service desk for about 25 minutes all the while looking for someone to help us. This very nice gal from windows helped us and called into the back and they told her they didn't have a door, but she went and checked because Bill said there was one (on the desk was Bill's product sheet that he had printed off for me about the patio door with my name and number and that I would be coming for it) . She mentioned she believed that Jared was on lunch. When she came back she told us that she believed the door was mislabeled but she wanted to make sure and check with Jared this is 20 minutes later after first speaking with her, I apologized to her as I knew it wasn't her dept, she assured me it was fine, I wasn't rude nor angered. She returned with Manager Jared who seemed rather bothered that he was troubled during his lunch break to help someone he doesn't know, he never smiled or even introduced himself he just said no we don't have that door, now the girl who didn't work in doors went and checked it earlier this guy came from the lunchroom, he didn't go back there and look at the door to verify or anything. Just no we don't have it, (I'm still behaving) I asked him well could you check to see if another store might have it? Again the bothered disgusted look!!! I then told him I left work 2 hours early and just drove 2 hours to be standing in front of him. He found another store in Evergreen park, Illinois that showed they had two, I could go there! I was like could you verify that, so he wasn't happy but grabbed a phone to call them, I reminded him that the Danville Illinois store looked up and the computer showed that his store had one and that I called and spoke with Bill who said verbally told me that they had the door, I wasn't going to trust him telling me the computer said yes. After checking out how much further away that location was I decided NOPE, Jared never apologized or seemed disappointed that there was a error made by his staff. Complete poor and utterly crap for customer service by this manager!!! I do know that Bill and The window gal were extremely helpful but this store gets a bad review due to Jared the mill work manager. I will never return to this location!!! Has to be one of the better Menards in the area. Yes there are two closer and one much bigger about 15 minutes down the road but, this one always seem to be the most helpful and friendly. The staff has a smile on their face it seems and actually don't seem to be annoyed when you ask them a question rather it's a dumb one or just a simple where is such and such at. So wish they had Menards down south. One can only dream. read more

I purchased my 500 unite pocket poll a week ago and I had confirmation number and also tracking number was showing you ready to ship and a call from the store 2 days before the delivery to located the location for the deliver than a day after they called me telling that they are sold out now I lost about $500 my deposit that I gave the company for the installation that they were going to start today I called back asking why this deliver not on time they hang up on my face than called again to speak to the manger name ( J M ) he said I can't do nothing about it now I have been with no fence for the whole 10 days Plus we were going to doing my nephew's graduation party in the backyard we had to cancel the event over the unprofessional job that they couldn't deliver on time. I rarely go here unless I'm being forced to go because I love tools just as much as I love sports and hunting, in other words I don't love tools. I must admit though if you really need to get tools or supplies and things like that, this is definately a smart place to go. Basically I hate this place with a passion because I detest tools, wood, building things, fixing things, and things along those lines... buuuut I am not opposed to admitting that I can see how someone could like it if they were into that sort of stuff, or if someone simply just needs something from there. Menards lies to its customers and doesn't care about them, and good luck to any poor slob who purchases their countertops there. I made the bad mistake of ordering my kitchen countertops at this location and had nothing but grief. I ordered two countertops on August 24, 2020 and was promised that I would receive them in two weeks. The first one arrived at the store on September 12 - not bad. However, the second countertop was nowhere to be found. The salesman (Bob M) gave me a song-and-a-dance that it had left the manufacturing facility but was unable to locate it at the distribution center (the next stop in the process). After mercilessly being forced to wait over two additional weeks, Bob M finally re-ordered the missing countertop on October 5. On the new sales receipt Bob M stated that the original missing countertop was "NEVER RECEIVED - M.I.A." Bob promised that he was putting a rush on the new order. ALL ALONG WE WERE RELEGATED TO WASHING OUR DISHES IN THE BATHROOM SINK! When I asked Bob if Menards was going to give us a gift card for all of our troubles, he said "No way" and that he blamed all of it on COVID!! COVID?! How about ineptitude?! He REALLY pissed me off! To add insult to injury, the day before the replacement countertop was delivered, Menards notified us that the original countertop had just been delivered to the store. I immediately called Bob he told me that he'd inspected the receiving area, and that the countertop was nowhere to be found. By this point I'd lost all of my trust in Bob and was convinced that he was lying. Although the replacement countertop arrived at the store the next morning, I was thoroughly disgusted with Menards and the way they'd treated me. During my house remodeling project I'd spent over $15,000 at Menards and was treated like a second-class citizen. I wouldn't recommend Menards to anyone and will never shop there again. read more

The last TWO vistis to Menards had me ask for a manager because items rang up too high on the register. Both times they acted like it was MY fault! Today I purchased several items including 3 plants from the plant department. There were about 12 plants on this shelf about 8" high, clearly marked $5.99. I put 3 in the basket and continued shopping. Upon checking out I expected my bill to be around $80....the cashier said $116.00...I said I think something is wrong, when I looked at the receipt the $5.99 plants rang up $14.99 each...I knew this was not correct. This was in the plant dep't. that i checked out in and the cashier said I had to go to the service desk for a refund. I refused and told them to call a manager...Here comes Alicia....I explaned everything to her and said I will show her the sign on the plants....about 50 feet away...she said "you want me to walk over there?...da....yes ...the sign was nailed to the wood. After viewing and calling another associate they decided the plants should not have ben put there! And I could not buy them for $5.99......really? So of course I march to the front of the store for my credit. EVERYONE CHECK RECEIPTS WHEN CHECKING OUT.....TWO VISITS AND IF I COULD GIVE A ZERO STAR FOR BOTH VISITS I WOULD....... read more

We placed an order of lumber for delivery. ($700). Time frame was 7am-12pm for delivery. After many calls which no one seemed to know anything, a partial order came at 2:30pm. And the offer for the mistake and late delivery was a $30 delivery credit which is 1/2 the delivery charge. A warehouse person read 1/4" luan paper backing as leaf bags.
