This was by far the worst experience I have ever had a home improvement store. As the lake is high this year, the dock ended about 6 feet shy of the lake shore. I needed either a section of dock or wooden planking that would cover that area that would be safe to walk from the lake shore to the dock. I am visiting the lake house from Pennsylvania and unfortunately I a woman who is not experienced in building/constructing/repairing - you get it. I needed advice and help picking it out in the lumber yard. I was, by multiple employees, waived off LITERALLY, dismissed, ignored and by one employee refused help. I was also told that I would have to cut my own wood. I am 64 year old woman who has never used a power saw. I was standing in the lumber warehouse appalled at the service here. I crossed the street to Home Depot, explained the situation and was guided and helped by 17 YEAR OLD who had better customer service skills that everyone I ran into at Menards. He walked back to where I needed to go, offered to have it cut for me and loaded in my SUV. Needless to say I will never again shop at Menards, and also given every opportunity I will pass this story along. P.S. Women have money too and can choose where to spend it. read more

I don't like one stars but this place very nearly deserved it. Cindy at customer service desk was the saving grace. The other person at customer service, who didn't have a name tag, was truly awful. Not helpful and made me feel like I was inconveniencing her for coming in. I like Menards so I was very surprised and disappointed. I will not be back. read more

3/8/23 visit to FL Menards revealed that they need to screen their checkout people better. I realize times are tough but if the rudeness continues Ill take my business across the street to Home Depot. 1) If u dont like ur job, QUIT. 2) Put the employees with NO personality in back to stock shelves. read more

When you rent a truck, they start changing you time when you start the paper work, witch they are ripping you off when the time should start when you drive the car off they should follow you out with the paler work and mark the time and millage so they aren't ripped people off. read more

Regardless of my feelings regarding masks---- As I finished checking out I was (IMO) rudely - and in a confrontational manner - told by the check out dope that my mask needed to cover my nose completely. When I informed her that I have a medical condition that prevents it- she broke the law asking what my medical condition is that prevents me from covering my nose. "The Executive Order includes exemptions to the face covering mandate for people with certain medical conditions or disabilities. When a customer or visitor claims to be exempt due to a medical health condition or disability, businesses may NOT require proof of the condition or disability, or require customers or visitors to explain the nature of their condition or disability. as a former employee of Menards, I know what to look for , what they don't have, and how to get help in a store i 've never had an issue in forest lake except for the time it takes for a special order to get from Eau Claire Wisc , to a Minnesota location store its about aprox 4-6 weeks , even if the item is at the Eau claire warehouse other than that its Just Menards , ive been to HDepot in Forest lake no help no products except if you're building a house or garage from the plans read more

Can I give this location and organization a minus 500? Worst run ship in the lumber industry. Lazy store and corporate management, poorly organized and do not care about their customers, only their money. Didn't think I would every write a review like this, but when this company failed me, they failed immensely and did nothing to rectify. They owe me thousands of dollars for materials not delivered and think they are somehow justified in blaming me for LOSING my order!? Made a special trip here for a sales item that apparently has been discontinued, even though the store said they had items still in stock. We had a nice employee direct us to the building manager Ray. He was everything but courteous... He was quite arrogant in his demeanor and attitude towards us and would not honor their website or sales price for the item we made a special trip to buy. Only explanation he gave was that he couldn't do anything about it followed up by a worthless and shallow 'sorry'. If this is how management acts and represents the brand name of Menards, I would suggest not even going to Forest Lake Menards for anything, drive the extra miles and find a better store with better customer service. I choose Menards as my first option when looking for DIY home tools and supplies due to the great selection and prices, however, the customer service isn't what it should be with the younger generation. I see Dave, a middle-aged gentleman, whenever I need help in the tools and hardware department because he is very knowledgeable and personally helps me find exactly what I need. Yesterday, I bought a new jigsaw along with clamps and a few other items, and Dave listened to exactly what my needs were and I was in and out quickly. What could have been a stressful time shopping, was instead a very pleasant experience. However, I gave Menards only 4 stars due to the poor help I received today from the customer service counter from a very young clerk. She was rude, abrupt, and refused to help me because she was "helping" someone else - who was actually standing in line at the receipt kiosk waiting to find his receipt for her! All I needed was a tiny form for a retroactive 11% rebate but she was too rude and "busy" to even know what I needed! It was Kyle who eventually helped me. Unfortunately, poor customer service is a common thing with most of the younger employees at Menards. read more
