One of my friend's friend from Irvine wanted to go salsa dancing in TJ, so they invited me to come along. I was in charge of finding a place, so I picked this one! At first, we could only hear hip-hop music from outside, so we weren't sure if they were going to play any Latin music at all. They said the music was inside and checked my ID. The cover was 50 pesos per person and we headed towards the back.
It was pretty empty for being 10:30pm....We ordered a few beers and a couple tamarind margaritas while watching a few people dance. The margaritas were yummy and prices were cheap! A few guys asked me to dance and since my friend and I were the only Asians, everyone kept staring at us. A live band came out shortly after and they were pretty good! The female singer had a really strong voice!
More people started coming around midnight and it was getting kind of crowded. There wasn't a lot of room to dance since the dance floor is small. Overall, I had a lot of fun that night even though the leads were lacking. read more
