Tucked away in a strip shopping center adjunct to Captain D's on Stage Rd in Bartlett sits a gem of a new little burger and sandwich restaurant. I spotted this place a while back and I have no idea what took me so long to finally give it a try. It's close to work and believe me we need more good places to eat in this area. I went by for lunch the other day and was impressed immediately as I entered, nice, new, clean and nicely decorated. The tables were spread out so it wasn't overly crowded like some of my favorite restaurants seem to be. They have the big chalkboard menu behind the counter and the first thing I noticed was "Candied Bacon." How could I not order something like that? They offer it as an appetizer but I also noticed it comes on the "Smoke On The Burger" and when I saw that my mind was made up on what to order. I was going to go with the house made potato chips, however they were out so I went with the fries instead. The food came out fast and looked great upon arrival. The first thing I noticed was the fries are seasoned and battered. I have to say I'm not a fan of this style of French Fries but these were as good as they get for battered and seasoned fries. I still wish they'd had the house made chips or just some simple plain well cooked fries. That being said the Smoke On The Burger was great, shredded cheddar, BBQ sauce, grilled onions and of course CANDIED BACON, all on a toasted onion bun. As excited as I was for the bacon, to me I just wasn't crazy about the texture of it. Being candied made it chewy and gummy, not a texture I like on my burger. I tried a piece by itself and it wasn't bad but I just didn't think it added anything to the burger itself. Next time I order this burger I will ask to hold the candied bacon and go with just regular ol'bacon if they'll let me. The onion bun was delicious and went along well with this burger. I really enjoyed the burger, it was well cooked and flavorful and I can't wait to try something else off their great menu. The service was friendly and helpful. There were a lot of other first timers there besides me and the staff was patient and helpful with the menu. The owner even came by and checked on us to make sure we were enjoying everything. The Memphis Mojo Café is a great addition to this area. I hope everyone gives it a try because so far no one has been able to catch on at this location, but I think with their quality food and some good Memphis Mojo the skies the limit. read more

Happy I discovered this place! The staff is super friendly, making conversations with everyone in the place while I was there. Super super nice. I finally got a chance to try this place tonight and I was blown away! The food was amazing. I definitely agree that this place has kind of a Midtown type vibe to it, and definitely serves that kind of food. It's great to go somewhere and see different stuff on the menu rather than the same stuff. As soon as I saw the description for the Smoke on the Burger, I knew I had to try it. Ugh, it's amazing. Their candied bacon is awesome. For years I've thought Huey's has had the best burgers in town but I don't know, this is giving them a serious run for their money. The catfish is great, too. I'll definitely be back to try the meatloaf sliders and the chicken and waffles. That is, if I can stand to not order that burger again. ;) read more

I just ate here for the first time today at the suggestion of others on a Yelp forum topic I started about places to get a great burger in Memphis. Went here today for lunch and got the Smoke On The Burger.....smoked cheddar cheese, caramelized onions, and the most awesome candied bacon! Talk about a perfect combination of flavors, as well as textures, as the candied bacon retained a nice crunch. The burger itself was cooked to perfection as well. I will definitely be back to eat this burger again, as well as try some of their other delicious sounding food. The fries you get with the combo meal are really tasty too, as they are seasoned with a slightly spicy mix. The only thing that I wished was better was that I got my burger as a combo meal, which included fries and a soft drink. I thought my drink would be a fountain drink, preferably with free refills....instead I was handed a warm can of coke and a cup with ice.....yet I saw there was a soda fountain behind the counter, so I'm not sure why I was given a can of coke. Maybe the fountain was broken? I dunno, I didn't ask, I just went with it. But usually soda is a pretty cheap item for restaurants from what I understand, and I do like being able to get free refills on my soda. But the burger was so excellent, that I couldn't let this minor gripe affect my rating. Let's just say, I was impressed. After browsing the menu online, I knew what I was going to get as we walked in. I got the Chicken N Waffles sandwich, double size, and the Mojo Fries. Our group also split the candied bacon, well because duh. The Chicken and Waffles had a good flavour without being too greasy. The star was the Mojo fries. YES PLEASE. I could eat a bucket of them. The candied bacon was delicious too. After our meal I ordered the Banana cake and the Elvis dippers. The cake was fresh and delicious. It combined great flavours and textures. The dippers were out of this world. With the cream dipping sauce. The couple bad things. As you come up on the restaurant there isn't a sign. It is on the western edge of the shopping center. You don't want to miss this place. Also for some reason Google was sending us to a residential neighborhood a couple blocks away. This is the cutest little place and the food is great. I had sliders with some kind of tomato jam, prosciutto and aioli. They were delicious. The fries and onion rings were nothing to write home about, but what was... was the service. We were asked numerous times if everything was to our liking. I am not sure if the people there were the owners, but they certainly showed pride in their work. The cook talked to us about ideas he had for burgers and asked us what we thought. This place is delicious! I take a lot of people here that have never been. It's definitely a hidden gem in the Bartlett area. Out of all the times I've been there, I've only been disappointed twice and I totally think they were freak occurrences (and when I said something the staff made it right). The difference between a good and a great company is the customer service and the service here is top notch! The only suggestion I have is that the change their sweet potato wedges to fries because the wedges they cut don't always cook all the way through because they're too thick. I feel kind of cheated that I've been living in Bartlett for over 3 years and NEVER ate at MoJos until today. Wow. This place is good. (Last Burger on Earth is still my fave Memphis burger, but this is pretty darn good and much closer to home for me.) I had a custom burger with all kinds of toppings plus fried pickles. My man had a simpler burger with onion rings. The meat is outstanding. The only drawback to the burger was the bun. It was a very boring hamburger bun and not up to par with the rest of the food. The fried pickles were great -- very unique flavor and the breading was light. The dill dipping sauce (not ranch) was a nice twist. They come in as a tie with Huey's fried pickles. (IMO #1 fried pickles are at Off the Hoof in Arlington.) The onion rings were heavily breaded but with great flavor and crunch. We both loved them. Our cashier was very friendly and helpful, giving us background on the way the food is prepped. They hand batter their pickles and onion rings. The sweet potato fries are cut in house. The meat is a mix of three cuts and done in house too. Will absolutely be going back. And I think I may never need to go to 5 Guys again. read more

My husband and I love a good burger and this place definitely has them. I like that they change their menu. Prices are compatible to other burger places in the area. Because we are new to the area we had to try the Elvis dippers. I'm am sure they are very unhealthy but they tasted so good!! Almost like baked banana pudding. I highly recommend.
