Is it a high class place to stay? Nah, it's a motel! The price was great for us and met all our needs!

I don't know what the prices were when he started coming here, but I was able to book 2 rooms for three nights for cheaper than it costs to stay on the island in one room for one night. Sorry about the flashback to math class, people, but this is an economics lesson where you'll want to pay attention. There is a log cabin kind of feel to the architecture. And, in another throwback to a bygone age, the doors use keys...actual, metal keys, not plastic cards. Outside the room, you'll find gas barbecue grills with tongs and other tools to enjoy your home away from home. While the room itself seems humble, it does contain most of the amenities you would expect. It's spacious. The beds are reasonably comfortable. There is a mini fridge, but unfortunately no microwave. And the restaurant is just a few steps away from your room, and it's excellent. One thing you would not expect, however, is a mind-boggling array of on-demand programming on your flat screen TV. Dozens of shows are available from maybe 30 different networks. And, it's no extra charge for any of it. Even if it weren't for all this, the location itself is perfect. Directly across the street are two Mackinac Island ferry terminals. I'm not exaggerating: they're literally across the street. That $27 you pay for a round-trip ticket is a heck of a lot cheaper than you would pay each day to stay on the island. Economics, people. So, go ahead and get a second mortgage to pay for a stay on the island. I will keep on coming here and enjoying all the great benefits, while also having money left over to actually pay for things to do on the island.

It's off the beaten path, but close enough to the shops in town and it's an easy walk to many places to eat as well. It's not a big place and it's not a big well known company either. It's a nice family owned business. There were pros and cons to our room so I'll be sure to cover everything. First off, the room was very clean and that comes from someone who is a neat freak. Housekeeping was fantastic. The bathroom could have been more user friendly. Although it was nicely updated, there was no room to set toiletries because it had a pedestal sink which looked very nice, but when you're traveling, you have 'stuff' that needs to set out. The odd thing was there was no toilet paper holder and because it had the pedestal sink, there was no room to set the roll. We either had to set it behind us on the tank lid which was an awkward reach or put it on the shower 'step in'. It was kind of maddening but maybe they weren't done updating or maybe someone forgot to reinstall the holder after the update. Now on to the shower.... it was beautifully tiled with a very nice and newer looking shower head. I loved it. The downside was that the shower didn't have any type of shelf or area to put shampoo, conditioner, soap etc except for the safety railing. So... we had to balance the bottles, razor and bar of soap on the railing. That was a fun daily game of balancing everything. The towels and wash cloths were thick, soft and clean and there was plenty of bar soap and shampoo that was replenished daily. The light and overhead fan were connected rather than separate so when you turned on the light, the fan went on as well. The toilet looked fairly new and it was the newer type that had the water saving flush. All in all the bathroom was pretty nice. If they could add a toilet paper holder and maybe a shelf for the shower to set the bottles, bar soap and anything else on and maybe a shelf for toiletries and accessories next to the sink, the bathroom would be perfect. For the main living area, it was your standard motel room with a smaller size TV, a small fridge with a freezer, a small Keurig type coffee maker with two coffee pods a day and an ice bucket. There were 2 drawers on the dresser and one of them was where I had to put my cosmetics and toiletries when getting ready each morning due to the bathroom having no room for anything. There was also a small rack above the dresser for hanging a few clothes The two beds were full size. Needless to say, I was happy to come back home to the queen size we're used to. They had a variety of pillow to choose from based on your sleeping preferences. The bed overall was a bit too soft for my liking but for 4 nights, the full size, softer bed was fine. The comforters looked clean and fairly new and updated. There was an outlet next to the beds to plug in charging cables, and the bedside table had a wireless charger that we were able to just set our phones on to charge so that was nice. The outlet did have a couple of ports too, but unfortunately they weren't working. There's a heated pool, but we didn't use it so I can't say anything about it except that it had a nice sitting area and people seemed to enjoy swimming in it. The best part about staying here is the awesome view of the Mackinac Bridge. Pretty much every room here has a great view. We were closer to the end, which is closer to the water, which is closest to the bridge and we were on the 2nd floor. I'm glad we were up a level because the morning and evening views of the bridge were beautiful from the 2nd floor. You do have to walk upstairs because there's no elevator so if you have difficulty with climbing stairs, the lower level is where you want to be. The sunrises from the balcony were fantastic, beautiful and picturesque. There is a small beach, a walkway and benches for sitting as well. There's also a grassy area with picnic tables right outside the motel. So....there you have it! A pretty nice place with absolutely fantastic views of the bridge along with lovely morning sunrises and close to the bustling town where there are plenty of shops and places to eat. If you decide to stay here, I hope you enjoy your stay just as we did.

The units are luxurious and well appointed and include the use of the attached garages during your stay. The kitchens are fully outfitted with everything you need to cook up a great dinner to enjoy on the patio or at the dining table. We rented a two-bedroom unit and the mattresses were ultra comfortable with plenty of pillows and bedding for any comfort level. This resort is within 2 miles of the center of Mackinaw City and plenty of interesting shops and restaurants. With the shoreline beach and outdoor swimming pool the kids can stay plenty busy. The only downside is pets are not allowed.

The "continental breakfast" is pretty much non-existent, so don't count on that. The owners are lovely, although they only live there seasonally so it can be tricky to make a reservation early! What a beautiful, peaceful, relaxing, comfortable little inn! Just one street removed from the main drag, staying here means you'll have all the convenience of hanging near the action, but none of the noise and congestion. Granted, you have to walk up a small hill, but it is quite manageable, even after a night of pub-pedaling (like a pub crawl but on a bicycle!) Forget that fancy place with the big front porch, I love the far less expensive, cozy little red and white Hart's Inn! Making a reservation by phone was easy and checking in and out meant simply picking up and dropping off keys. The room was pristine, bright and cheery. We slept like logs in a very comfy bed with the in-room a/c set just where we like it. We took breakfast the next morning al fresco under one of the bright red umbrellas. The landscaping and lawn is colorful and lush. It was like eating in a garden. I loved the big white mugs filled with plenty of steaming, strong coffee. Pierre, the young on-site manager was very personable and helpful. He did a wonderful job of making sure all was in good order. After breakfast we took a bike ride around the island then checked out and left our bags with Pierre while we did a little more exploring. I love that Hart's Inn does not require a two night minimum stay. We wish it could have been longer but we only had one night available on our itinerary. Make sure to request a room that opens onto the lawn.

This was honestly one of the hardest reviews I've had to write because there were things we really…read moreliked and things that just didn't sit well with us. When I called to finalize our booking, my wife had already spoken to someone named Rose. I called back so we could both speak with her and go over a few questions before booking the room. The woman on the phone Rose was incredibly kind, patient, and helpful. She explained everything clearly: when meals were served, how we could get our luggage to the hotel, and what to expect during our stay. She made such a good impression over the phone that we were really excited to stay there. Since there weren't any porters available when we arrived, we walked our bags to the hotel. It wasn't a far walk, and once we got there, we were greeted by Rose at the front desk. She checked us in, asked how many keys we wanted, and directed us to our room. The room was clean and looked just like it did online. It's an older property, so we weren't expecting a 5 start hotel, and that was fine with us. However, the first night I noticed a small spider on the bed. I didn't think much of it at first, old building, things happens. But every night after that and even during the day, I had to kill spiders. This went on every single day of our 3-night stay. My wife was terrified because she doesn't like bugs, especially ones crawling around the room. That alone made it hard for her to relax. The bed was a king, but the pillows were queen-sized and not good at all. We both left with sore necks. By the last night, we were just ready to go. Here's a quick breakdown of the pros and cons: Pros: * Great location--close to shops, restaurants, and local spots. * The staff--Rose, Norman, and everyone we encountered were incredibly welcoming and helpful. * Master Suites are spacious, and they provide plenty of towels. * Room service is available for fresh linens. * Breakfast was good, two out of the three mornings were great. * Master suites have large jetted tubs with a nice view, which is nice. Cons: * Spiders were everywhere--inside the room, around the stairwells, and all over the balcony. * The balcony was unusable because of the number of small flies and spiders outside. * The showerhead had poor pressure and didn't spray evenly. * Furniture felt old and fragile, definitely due for an update. * Pillows were uncomfortable and left us sore. * The property, while good in its age, is overpriced for how old and worn-down it is. You're not getting your money's worth in terms of comfort or amenities. If I were rating our stay based on service alone, this would be a solid 5-star review. The staff truly went above and beyond. But when adding in the condition of the property and the overall comfort of the stay, I have to give it 3 stars. The negatives outweighed the positives, and unfortunately, we won't be returning.

We love that we can use the kayaks and the canoe or the pontoon, and watching the bald eagles that live on the lake is majestic to say the very least. Our kids love the playground on site and we love the friendly atmosphere while we're here! It's the perfect distance from Mackinaw and we love driving into the city for the day. Our summers won't be complete without a stay here. Be sure to call and book early, it fills up fast and the regulars get their spots booked an entire year in advance.

I guess this was suppose to add support to the outdated furnishings. The refrigerator had rust all over it. Talk about losing your appetite. The shower was the size of a port a pot. The screens did not fit properly. And when you are surrounded by trees and water, and you don't have properly fitting screens, you'll have insects and bugs. Speaking of which, the light in our kitchen was covered with bugs that gravitated to the fixture. Then at night when we turned the bedroom light on and bugs came out onto the bed that was it. My wife said "Time to go".
