Done my fair share of Melia stays in Spain, and by far this was the worst of them all!
I am not too picky when it comes to hotels, but this one was very misleading quite honestly. They rated themselves as a four star, which you could agree upon based on the beautiful lobby, but that is where it ended. When we breezed through the check in, we found our room pretty quickly, so no issues there. The room was quite small and reaked of sewer smell. Of course we called the front desk, but it took close to two hours before someone from their maintenance arrived and assisted in the matter. Again, not the end of world, just an unpleasant welcoming "gift" when checking in late at night. Outside of the window, I hoped to find some beautiful scenery, but was left with an interior courtyard with construction work and other rooms glaring right into ours. We were never informed that there was going to be construction outside our hotel room window, but not the end of the world as it went on during the day when we were not there, but quite messy though.
The hotel itself got some major brownie points for its fabulous breakfast buffet, one of the better if not best I have had in quite some time. An ample amount of food for all whether a vegan, vegetarian, pure carnivore, etc. The price of the hotel rooms were not too bad given its close proximity to the metro and various other attractions, but maybe could of found something close to the center of the town for the same price. All and all not a terrible stay, but one that could of been better. read more
