LOCATION: As I was planning our honeymoon stay in Europe, I changed a few hotels around to be sure that we were relatively near the city's center. This location has the Cuzco metro stop (Line 10) right outside of it, which made getting around super easy! Here's a list of some of the places were checked out during our time there, with travel times via public trans:
- Royal Palace of Madrid (28mins via Metro)
- San Miguel Market (6mins walk from Royal Palace)
- Plaza Mayor (3mins walk from San Miguel)
- Taberna El Sur (15mins via Bus from Plaza Mayor)
- ABC Museum (25mins via Metro)
- El Retiro Park (33mins via Metro)
Some of you might think that travel time over 15 mins is too far, but when you're on vacation and don't have to worry about driving, 25-30 mins really isn't that bad and the ticket system to use for public trans is so easy and reliable. Nothing like California, LOL. Oh, and one thing to note is that their lobby/lounge area smells like a cloud of cologne. It's pleasant, but might be annoying if you're sensitive to smells.
ROOM: Our room here was pretty spacious! The bathroom had a rainfall shower head on the ceiling, and the room was nice, modern and cozy. Our king bed was nice and comfy as well.
SERVICE+FOOD: The check-in and check out process was very smooth and easy, a few workers did speak English so that was helpful for us. We ordered room service the night we arrived. Now, I don't know if it was my pure excitement to finally rest and eat, but I had a damn good pizza for dinner. Haha! We also had dinner in the lounge one of the nights, I wasn't too fond of the crispy chicken - because it wasn't crispy! BUT the flavor was there.
We also got to use their little business area above the lounge bar, which was free to use. They gave you a personal username and password, printing is free as well.
BREAKFAST!: We had breakfast a few times here, and it's a damn amazing standard European breakfast. But y'know, with being jet-lagged, it worked out since most places weren't even open 'til 10AM. They had nespresso machines for self-service and they did have a small menu to order things like eggs your style, waffles, omelets, etc. They had a table dedicated to cereal and pastries, two fridges - one with fruits and yogurts, the other with smoked salmon, Iberian ham, different deli meats and cheeses, a small variety of juices and waters. The had a separate table dedicated to bacon, sausage, spreads for bread, different breads and the toaster. It was amazing, and we loved it.
Overall, I absolutely loved this location. The staff was very friendly and super accommodating which made our experience lovely. read more
