Food was okay, but my god did we have a terrible experience there. We are from out of town and stopped on the way home hoping for a quick dinner before driving 2 more hours to Louisville. The restaurant was not too busy, maybe 5-6 tables filled when we arrived, and I made the mistake of talking about the low/ish yelp review stars. Our server immediately started bragging about the place, saying how the food was great, everyone was so nice and we believed her. I loved the bread they brought out when we sat down, but all my friends thought it tasted like flour. We ordered after 15 minutes of being there, and we got the Manicotti w/ spaghetti, Tri-Sauce Tortellini, and the Meat Lovers pizza. After ordering, a huge table of 12 people sat down nearby us, and our server was assigned to also help them. They got drinks immediately, and had bread coming out every 5 minutes. When I asked for another sweet tea, I didn't get it for 10 minutes and I only received it because the huge table also needed refills. Our food didn't come out until 40 minutes AFTER we ordered it (the restaurant only had 3 tables filled by then), and it took so long we were considering paying for our drinks and leaving to go to the Papa Johns next door since we still had a long drive home and it was 8pm! The worst part was that the huge table next to us got their food literally 5 minutes after us, despite ordering at least 25 minutes after us. The cherry on top of this experience was that my friend found a black piece of hair in the spaghetti, and so she barely ate anything...(and she's a red head so it was obviously not hers). The server was nice enough to comp her food and drink, and she said she gave the rest of us 20% off of our food for the wait, but to me that really doesn't makeup for our bad time and taking up an hour and 15 minutes of our life when the restaurant wasn't even busy. I at least enjoyed my food, but I will definitely NEVER return if I find myself in Grayson again. I feel bad writing this review, but then again I did still spend $20 on ravioli and a sweet tea, so I think I can give my opinion. read more

Our food was horrible. My step-dad got a ham and cheese sandwich you could see through the ham the lettuce was literally an inch thick. The bread taste like flour. I got the fettuccine Alfredo I took 2 bites out of it the sauce taste like water. She ask if I wanted a box and I told her it was tasteless and she said "oh ok" and I was charged for it.... we won't go back!! read more

Little town Italian, that's what this place is. The staff was great! The place was clean and seating was extremely spaced due to Covid. The prices were great for a small town, $8-$14 approx. We ordered spaghetti marinara, tri-color cheese tortellini, spaghetti with Marsala wine sauce, and beef ravioli. The good is the reason for the 3 stars. It was very mediocre to poor. The Marsala wine sauce was a glassy light brown that tasted only of gross oil/grease. The spaghetti marinara was below average (something about the sauce that I could put my finger on.) the other 2 dishes were fine, but just average and plain. This place was "fine," and I'm sure I could find 2-3 dishes that I wouldn't mind eating. Since this is one of the few actual restaurants in Grayson, you could definitely make it work and the staff was great. read more

A very good Italian restaurant, they brought out some breadsticks prior to the meal, it looked very good but the taste was bland. I still enjoying breadsticks with my meal, I should have asked for some olive oil! I had the chicken parmesan, and they prepared it the way I asked. The marina sauce is better than average. Girlfriend had the baked spaghetti and she enjoyed it. The wine was very good and not too expensive for the bottle. read more

Stopped in Grayson, Ky. while traveling. We asked the hotel front desk for a recommendation which pointed us to Melini's. First, our waitress was very friendly and efficient. The restaurant is very clean and spacious inside. Our waitress brought us warm Italian bread with warm homemade marinara sauce for dipping. Very good. We ordered the caprese and the baked tomato. These appetizers were generous portioned and each could easily be shared by a couple - which my wife and I did. The baked tomato, sliced fresh tomatoes covered in melted bully mozzarella, then broiled with parmesan covering the top. What a simple yet satisfying dish. The caprese was 7 generous slices of tomato and bully mozzarella with EVOO and basil shredded over the top. Magnificent. Next, we ordered the antipasto salad. Again, a generous portioned dish that's large enough to share. A mix of iceberg lettuce, vegetables, slices of ham, salami, artichokes, provolone and buffalo mozzarella cheese, topped with oregano. Delicious. We should have stopped right there. We were well satisfied. Instead, we both ordered the stuffed shells. Two large shells stuffed with ricotta, parmesan, and mozzarella cheese on top of another generous portion of spaghetti covered in their marinara sauce. Wonderful, but we had to doggie bag most of the dish as we were stuffed. If you're out traveling by Grayson, Kentucky on the Bourbon Trail, I highly recommend this little Italian place. read more

My wife, daughter, granddaughter and myself stopped today to try your food. My wife had been there earlier this month for my grandson's birthday party, had great meals, and wanted to let me experience the food. I'm sorry to say, this time everyone was unhappy with their meals, and what it cost to not enjoy them. My wife ordered Manicotti = $11.99 She said the noodles were undercooked, the sauce in her words, "blah". My daughter ordered Chicken Fettucine Alfredo = $13.99 She said the noodles were "ok", but the chicken seemed "stringy and dry". My granddaughter is 8, ordered the kids Fettucini Alfredo = $8.99 and other than "too hot", she was ok with hers. I ordered Baked Spaghetti & Meatsauce $12.99 . My noodles were overcooked and tough, the sauce, like my wife's, blah ... very little Italian seasonings. Meatsauce? Very little meat. We all put the greater amount of the portions in containers and left. Grand total including a $12 tip for a waitress that didn't clear the bread dishes, ask us how our food was, come to refill our waters, or thank us when we left, was $64.28 In this economy, this was a very expensive lesson. We will not be back. FYI, our Dutch Shepherd approved the leftovers. read more

Nasty pasta. I got the chicken Alfredo. it's water and milk . it's like a soup....no flavor. the chicken taste like pre-cooked Tyson chicken. No flavor! Bland, no seasoning at all. I normally get their calzones which are quite good. But I will never be getting any of their pastas again. bleh! I hate writing negative reviews. Good food, but our service really needed work. I think we just caught them on a bad night judging from the other reviews. My husband and I weren't very hungry, so we opted to share the fettuccine Alfredo. It was creamy and had a good sauce with a nice pasta. For dessert, I had the lemon cheesecake. Very good. Here is where things went wrong for us. Our server was distant. Our drinks weren't refilled in a timely manner. She didn't want to talk to us. A neighboring table had an excellent server who was taking his time explaining about the establishment and the food to his table. Ours was too busy doing something. Anything but serving us. It was like pulling teeth. We asked if they had homemade desserts and were told no. That was a bit of a let down as well. It was just about the only time she talked to us. read more

Amazing! Their food is delicious, served hot or cold as it is supposed to be and large sized helpings to satisfy any appetite. You get seated quickly with friendly servers, and given free breadsticks very quickly. Italian food tonight. Was staying with friends in Ashland. I do like Italian food so this place was chosen. The people were friend and helpful in choosing my meal. The place was clean and comfortable. I got a spicy sausage dish, forgot the name. It was ok but not exceptional. I was expecting it to be spicier but was very mild. I keep coming back to this restaurant yearly, because it seems like the closest thing to an Italian fine dining experience among pizza joints, and the prices seem cheap compared to similar menus in big cities. I see families ordering pizzas and calzones just like any of the "joints." We both ordered veal dishes this time. They were absolutely awful at any price. My veal piccata had a rectangular piece of meat on top that was like tough round steak. My partner's veal carbonara had tough pieces of meat in it (for $18 + tax and tip?) The portions are not large either. Each year, I'm a bit disappointed. I don't know why I return. If you want decent small town Italian food, go to the pizza places. I've been here before, and have always had a good meal. This time was no exception. I ordered something I hadn't had before: Spaghetti Alla Amici, described as chunks of chicken with mushrooms in a light red sauce. My waitress started me off with some cheese-dusted flatbread with marinara sauce while I waited for my entree, and it was hot and good! My entree was even better - the pasta was cooked just right, al dente, the chicken and mushrooms were lightly seasoned and in good proportion to the spaghetti, and the "light red sauce" was delicious in its own right when I'd scooped all the rest out (think tomato sauce combined with chicken stock with some sherry, oregano, etc.). This meal really hit the spot. I didn't have room for dessert anyway, but I was a little disappointed that my waitress didn't try to tempt me with some of that tiramisu from the dessert menu - just brought my check. (Guess she didn't think I needed the calories either.) If you're stopping in Grayson, I highly recommend this restaurant. read more

This is one of the better restaurants in the area. The menu has a variety of Italian and American fare, and the food is well prepared. The service has been excellent the few times I have eaten here. The atmosphere is more up-scale than one might expect from the area. This is a good place to eat for professional people or for a family out for a special treat. With not many choices in Grayson this is by far my favorite restaurant in Grayson! This is the ONLY nice restaurant here. My husband was born and raised around here and this is where we eat when we visit his family. We usually let the kids stay with his parents and head over for a little date. Party of 8- was seated, waited for waiter to give us our menus-nothing, so we got our own, brings our table some bread, I had asked for napkins, he brings 3 for 8 people, so I divide the napkins up. Brings us our food, we have to ask for forks. Brings more bread upon request and our table is full and his response is "where do you want me to put these?" We got our own "to go boxes" never received a ticket for our food so we just walk up to the counter to pay. Food was good, service? I didn't know it was self serve ! read more
