On my trip to Spain this year (2014), my friend and I wanted to stay at nice hotels that were reasonably priced. From what I could read online, the Melia Sevilla seemed to be one of them, and for the most part it was. The hotel is also pretty central (about 15-20 minutes to old town Seville), but right next to Plaza de Espana and the bus terminals (which bring you to/from Tarifa).
Of note, the rooms were very nice, spacious, and modern feeling -- almost felt like I was in one of the model apartment/room displays in Ikea. I must say, of all the hotels I stayed at during my Spain trip, this was one of the better ones. The Melia Sevilla advertises a swimming pool, which looks really big in pictures. In actuality, the pool is very small and during a hot summer day, the pool gets extremely packed so you there's no room to swim. I didn't get to swim unfortunately.
Melia Sevilla offers WiFi, which is very spotty from the hotel rooms. When my friend and I were using the WiFi, it would always cut in and out every 5-10 minutes. From our experimentation, we found out that the WiFi had the strongest signal in the lobby with very few cut in/outs. So if you happen to stay here and need to send an email or check into a flight, do it in the lobby!
Overall, the Melia Sevilla served our needs in providing a comfortable room that was fairly central to old town Seville and the bus terminals to Tarifa. But sadly, the other features, like the dinky & overpopulated pool and the spotty internet, made our overall hotel experience an average (3 star) experience. read more
