The Melek web site, though mostly in Spanish, had the services of each location in English. Yea, a starting point. With the help of Google translate, I got the details. Another yea. There are 2 locations very close to each other in downtown El Paso, we went to the one clearly with the money change service and could not have asked for better service. Parking was easy. I speak some Spanish but it was unnecessary, as the lovely woman at the window spoke perfect English. And the exchange rate was extraordinarily low. Our bank in Santa Fe charges $25 for the service and offers a horrible exchange rate. This side trip added a very pleasant day to our trip and eliminated the stress of that part of the trip. We will use them again.

Since it was still a bit early, before the border area had fully woke up, I was extremely pleased that this fine business was open. Currency exchange (US dollars to USM pesos and vice versa) is amongst it's many services and cashier 8 quickly, professionally, & friendly converted my US dollars. I saw a few too-large Peso notes, and asked her for smaller denominations, which she efficiently did. (I knew that my regular Northbound stop on Norzagaray included El Sancho Barbacoa, smaller notes would be appreciated. This is not the first time I've been able to change money at this excellent facility. The fact that it is so close to the border and where I cross really adds to the convenience. This gets my "Wheel of Approval!"

Terrible experience with this bank. I've had access to my joint account for years. I wrote a check…read moreand they tell me they couldn't cash it and so I had to go in. They proceed to tell me that i didn't have access and because only my wife writes checks. It is under my name and I have the debit card in my name. So I tear the check and ask the same person that i want to withdraw the same amount from the check using the debit card for the same account "I don't have access to" and she gave me the money. Ridiculous! What a waste of time.

However, I feel it's my duty to let the public know how incompetent the banking industry is at limiting the the amount of fraud that is taking place. Recently I lose my debit card (my fault). I reported the card lost within a few hours of realizing that it was gone. I checked my bank account and found two fraudulent charges. I called BofA and reported the fraudulent chargers (there were two). I asked when could I except to have fraudulent chargers reversed. I was told by 4-12-19. I had reported this on 3-29-19. I asked why so long? The answer was because the account was just recently opened. Which is true but the reason was the prior account was part of the breach that BofA had. In addition I had BofA for years when I lived in CA. The CS agent said she would try & get a hardship approval and if approved the money should be returned within 48 hours. To date this has not been. Last night I called and was told it would be 45-90 days. I will be reporting this to the BBB as well as going to the branch directly to issue a formal complaint. NOTE: If you dispute a charge your $ is refunded within a couple of days but fraud takes 45-90 days. Financial institutions must develop technologies that limit debit or credit card fraud it is much I needed to give an update to the above review. When the replacement cards were issued they issued them with the same #. Consequently I still have individuals attempting to put through charges on my account. One would think on a verified fraud situation that the replacement card would have a different number, not just the expiration date. If a didn't have a safe checking account these charges would have gone through and I would be fighting with them again. Having said this the underlining issue is that America banks need to institute finger print technology on credit and debit cards. Putting your picture on either is useless since retail merchant's never verify the person's identity against the picture. One last point the police will do nothing to investigate unless you reach a certain threshold. I even went so far as to tell one investigator the actual location of the store involved. The Decretive didn't even return my phone call and as far as putting in a report, forget it. When I tried to do it they didn't even want to take it. In summary if you are unfortunate and lose your wallet you are on your own. Due to the limited help that BofA afforded me I have decreased their rating to 1 a rating which is fairly deserved.
