My family and friends stayed at Melbymonte Lodge this past October. It was our first trip to the area and the home was exactly what we were looking for! We wanted something private with great views, but still lots of sleeping space and activities for our small kids. It was everything we hoped it would be. The kitchen was more than equipped. It was so nice to stay somewhere that so many items were already stocked so that we didn't have to buy them. We also loved the huge dining room table. All four families were able to dine together around the table with no problem! The porch was perfect at night for a glass of wine before bed. All of the rooms were very comfortable and the kids loved the loft upstairs. It gave them there own "space". The home is very clean and very well stocked with items like towels, linens, etc. Best of all, we hit the perfect weekend for fall leaves in October. The most beautiful colors, anywhere you look! I'm still dreaming about how perfect the foliage was! Also, I was concerned about how far a grocery store would be, but it really isn't too bad. We made two trips over the course of four days and got there easily and back. I would recommend making sure you have a good car (like an SUV) for getting up the mountain, if possible. Coming from the LowCountry of South Carolina, I didn't know what to expect. And finally, the owner couldn't be more accommodating. He was so kind and answered all of my questions prior to our visit. You can tell how much the home means to him & his family and it's very important to him that you are able to share such a special place. I hope to get to stay at the lodge again soon. MelbyMonte Lodge is the perfect place for a relaxing get-away! There are plenty of activities in both Cashiers & Highlands for those seeking adventure. And a quiet mountain with beautiful views, screened in back porch, wrap around front porch, hammock and fire pit for those wanting to stay home & relax. For being such a big home, it feels incredibly warm & welcoming! I went with 9 friends and it was perfect. We went for long hikes right out the back door one day & bar hopping in Asheville the next. Camp fires every night too! Will definitely be back! read more

Great secluded vacation spot! Came here with a large group of friends for a spring retreat, and Melbymonte Lodge was exactly what we needed. It was plenty spacious for all 18 of us, and well equipped to hold that many people as well. It's proximity to the town square and various hiking trails gave us tons of activities to choose from, which is exactly what we wanted for such a large group. 10/10 would come back again! read more

Designed and built for family reunions, we had a blast. We try to come here on a regular basis. Views of the mountains across the valley are outstanding lots of small places to get together for intimate conversations, nice outside deck with charcoal grill, at the end of a dead-end road so no traffic at all. A fun visit with my UF sorority sisters from long ago. Nice to have such a big space with a bedroom for everyone. The Lodge was clean and well kept. There is enough to do nearby in both Highlands and Cashiers and then such a beautiful quiet when you return home! read more

Came here for a "reunion" with large family and it was great. Very secluded, great views, great places to hike and yet not too far from town (about 15 minutes). Kitchen, bathrooms and bedrooms worked great for us. read more

I have stayed here muliple times and love it. Huge place with 6 bedrooms and an open floor plan makes our get togethers a real joy.
