Beware of online sales, it feels like a scam. I made a large order, a case of a specific brand of spirts. They came back with questions, and ask to verify ID + Credit Card, as it was my first buy and online I was accepting. Once they approved it, they turned around admitted they didn't have it and tried to bait and switch me into something else, without even talking about the price difference. Literally one of THE best sandwiches I've ever had. Had no idea they even had food inside of this small bodega store as I work nearby and would just see that they have specialty groceries inside. I've had a very authentic Italian sandwich experience in New York and haven't had the same since. This sandwich came very close. Meaty, thick, and very filling for the amount I'm paying. My wife and I walk our dogs in the neighborhood and moved here about 9 months ago from the valley. Thank God we got out of the valley. Anyway we walked by this place almost daily and decided to pop in for lunch. It's a great store when you walk in with a very wide variety of spirits and wine as well as a little bit of an Eataly posting a small selection of chocolates Italian dried goods etc. This review is only for the deli But just spot checking the price on the liquors and wine letting me to believe it's somewhat to very overpriced depending on what you're buying. Now for the review on the deli. We noticed they have a area in the back with two or three tables and decided to order sandwiches to eat there. Big pluses that they do allow dogs on the back patio which is always a big winner in my book. The price on the sandwiches seemed right and came with a side. I ordered the Roman with a side of potato salad. This was for about $12. I will start by saying the sandwich was made up of very fresh ingredients. The meats had good spice to them and the baguette which is almost always too hard was firm but didn't tear up the roof of my mouth. The big knock on the sandwich is that it was lacking flavor. I don't know if it may be needed more balsamic vinaigrette or some mayo or pesto. Not quite sure but for how good it looked it really ate bland. I picked off some of the meat and cheese to eat by itself and it definitely wasn't that. Very good quality meats and cheeses. I think with the right flavor pulling it all together, this coulld be a four-star sandwich. The potato salad was absolutely forgettable from the first bite. I added salt and pepper and that did nothing for it. It was actually below average. Again not in terms of quality of ingredients, but just in terms of flavor. In all fairness we did come here a couple of months ago while everyone was coming out of the pandemic. So it's definitely worth another shot especially at the price points on the menu. But I'm going to check out a few other sandwich joints before I come back to this one. Sandwich = 3 Potato salad = 1.5 Price = 4 Ambiance = 4 Last impression, the sandwich could be great if you doctor it up a little. The potato salad can't be helped and isn't worth the extra calories. But the price point and ambience are strong enough that this place definitely deserves a second chance. read more

Stopped by for sandwiches and since we are into wine, we checked out their inventory. The experience here was second to none. Jaime is the most gracious host with superb hospitality. Their collection of fine wines are from all over the world but if you are into CA wines, this is where you'll find your favorites. The sandwiches are really good here. Their customer service is terrible. I placed a corporate order for holiday gifts to be delivered. The whole process was not smooth, response times to emails were after hours (and I'm not talking about a few hours - it seemed to be done by an overnight shift). Mistakes were made on the delivery addresses and when they were contacted to correct it, I was told they would try. I reached out to Fed Ex to make the corrections myself only to be told that I am not the shipper and only the shipper can do that. Luckily, all of the gifts but one were delivered. I sent a follow up email asking for a new one to be shipped out s o it will get to NY in time for the holiday and I was told that they have to wait for the original package to be returned and then they can. After spending a few thousand dollars , this is the service you get. I will be sure to never use this company again. read more

Most Pretentious Review for 2019 (thus far): Ridiculous as it sounds, I desired a certain type of bottled water in a glass bottle as opposed to plastic. After visiting the brands site, Mel & Rose came up as the sole carrier closest to me, in the size I was searching for. After reading through some of their reviews, I didn't want to be that douche simply buying a bottle of agua, so I happily noticed that they carry a selection of foreign/international candy. As per some of the reviews here, I certainly took note that some of the stuff is clearly expired, some as of April (it's fall now) but I successfully found a fresh bar worth trying that didn't expire until 2020. Two men at the register; the older gentleman was helping out a woman (I couldn't tell if he had rings on or not but I looked) but the guy that I had was super cool. Total was $3+change, and they accept plastic on purchases on $5+ which is common in some places, so I was prepared with my cash. Cadbury is not something I enjoy stateside, but this version was pretty much perfect. This was the basic Dairy Milk variety, no frills or extras, and it hit the spot. I ate this on the way to the gym where I burned it off on a treadmill. I will most likely repeat this pretentious day once again in the near future! read more

So, I made the trek all the way to West Hollywood. Now let me say that the young man who helped me (behind the counter) was handsome and helpful (get your minds out of the gutter). He looked up the brand I was looking for--Amabuki--and lickity split he found it. Knew exactly where to go. I was in his store for less than 10 minutes (than includes him making me promise to do a Yelp review). I was truly shocked though at the number of online orders he and his employees were filling. I mean his store is really popular and you would never assume (from the outside) what a variety of drinks he carries. I was truly impressed. Store clean. It is organized in a way that he and his employees can be efficient. HINT: If you are looking for a specific brand, go to the website to see if they carry it. If they do, go to the store, BUT do not try to look for it yourself. Just ask the handsome guy behind the counter. Believe me, it will be faster if you do it this way. So the most important question is: Would I return to the store? The answer is 250% yes! One, he has what I want (get your minds out of the gutter people! I'm talking about sake!). WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!! Went into the store in person on Dec. 19 around 2:00 p.m. to get a gift certificate for my boss. (The website looked great).The cashier was friendly but told me I'd have to come back "later." I didn't push it because how long could it take? He said they make it look real purdy and that they would call. The next night around 7:00 I called and stated that I hadn't gotten a call yet. I thought maybe they called a wrong #, because again, how long could it take? Were they cutting the trees themselves for the paper? The woman on the phone sounded annoyed and said, "They didn't call you because it isn't ready." Okaaay. She said it should be ready by the next afternoon. I NEVER got a call, my boss didn't get the gift cert before Christmas and when I finally got it today, two days after Christmas, the staff member was pretty obnoxious. No welcome, no pleasantries at all, no thanks for your business... After reading other reviews, I'm glad I didn't go with my first choice and order the wine club for my boss. I realize that they cater to larger entities and that's reasonable. The little guy is not important. They could at least have the common courtesy of letting the little guy know that! Lesson learned. Oh--and the gift certificate was not wrapped in gold with unicorn horn ink. Just a regular printed gift certificate. I ordered over three weeks ago. I called two weeks ago to notify them that I never had any information that my order had shipped. I was told that the order would ship in a day or two and be patient and that the item was in stock. I called yesterday to ask where my order was that I ordered three weeks ago and was informed that the order was canceled two weeks ago because the item was out of stock and that an email was sent to me 2 weeks ago informing me of that.
