I rarely leave reviews like this, but our experience yesterday, July 31 around 6 PM, was…read moreuncomfortable and incredibly disappointing. My friend, cousin, and I were exploring Lido and had grabbed iced drinks from La La Land a few stores down because it was an extremely hot day. We popped into this store and were genuinely excited to look around. We weren't greeted or asked if we needed any help, but I honestly didn't pay much attention to that at first because I was intrigued by the inventory and enjoying looking around. As we made our way toward the back, a man approached us, I'm not sure if he was an employee, manager, or owner, and rather rudely told us not to put our drinks down on the counter. I immediately apologized. We had absolutely no issue respecting that request. My friend then asked him the price of a wallet she was interested in purchasing. He told her the price, but then proceeded to point at the wallet and say to her in an extremely condescending tone, "Do you see what you did from those sugary hands?" He continued making comments about her "sugary fingers" touching the leather. We literally gasped at his comments, her hands were not sugary or sticky. There was a tiny, pea-sized amount of condensation/moisture from holding an iced drink. Regardless, if he was concerned about the merchandise, there were countless respectful and professional ways he could have communicated that. The issue was never being asked to keep our drinks off the counter or to be careful with the merchandise, we completely understand that. It was the way he chose to speak to us. His tone and comments felt unnecessarily belittling and made all three of us extremely uncomfortable. What makes it even more disappointing is that my friend was genuinely interested in purchasing the wallet. We walked in excited to shop and instead left feeling unwelcome and talked down to. Beautiful inventory, but the way you treat people walking into your store matters. You never know who is coming in ready to make a purchase, and no customer should be made to feel uncomfortable or embarrassed simply for browsing your store. Unfortunately, the interaction completely ruined the experience for us, and we will not be returning.

pretty cool place, theres a place similar to this in gettysburg (maryland) and ive since been…read moretrying to find a place similar but here around the LA area, none have really came close but this one was definitely up there. Immediately walking in i was impressed by everything, i was super stoked to find they had bat taxidermy and rabbits feet. Had a lot of cool stuff and prices werent bad at all i had bought two rings which were real silver and a smaller bat hanging upside down in a dome which was all around $180 (?), the bat was $65 which was a really good price for me, someone i went with had gotten a bigger dog faced bat and it was around $160 - $180 which isnt bad. They had a bunch of different taxidermy and stuff, they had octopus tentacles, owl taxidermy, awesome jewelry and some stuff for rituals, they also had a few vintage dolls which were awesome. For the staff id definitely say its opinionated, i understand some of the other reviews of the person working not being super welcoming or even acknowledging them walking in or saying hello or anything, for my experience there definitely wasnt a "Hello" or "let me know if you need help" or anything when i had walked in and the guy working wasnt too talkative, for me personally i didnt mind this and didnt think anything of it, im naturally quiet but can be talkative when someone talks to me but after already socializing a lot in other stores it was a nice quiet breath of air to just roam the store and not have to interact with anyone, the guy working though was definitely helpful when we needed help though and if he saw that we (me and the people i was with) needed help getting something down or just getting something in general he'd offer help, for me i actually liked this since he was still helpful and super friendly and nice when he would help me and he was still aware so before i even asked for help with anything he was already asking if i needed help, which i liked a lot, i could tell he was definitely a little awkward especially when checking me out but it was just a little laugh since i myself am sometimes awkward when socializing so i could understand he was naturally quiet too. I do get for some other people though they do appreciate staff being very present and welcoming and like a little "Hi let me know if you need help with anything" when entering but of course thats everyones personal preference. Along with the staff he was very helpful on letting us know how to hold the taxidermy since someone i went with had gotten a bigger hanging bat but it was his first ever taxidermy so he didnt know how to hold it since it was a walk back to the car, he was very helpful on telling and showing him how to hold it so it wouldnt swing too much and maybe break or get messed up. Overall ill definitely be coming back and i definitely recommend coming here, the pieces are super cool and the pricing is honestly great, staff is friendly and helpful when they need to be but they are on the quieter side so for some people this can come off as maybe rude or unwelcoming but just keep in mind some people are naturally quiet and the guy working was actually pretty cool when we needed help with anything!

I'm also on this side of 35, so I love pretty home shit and decided this was the way to go. FeiFei told me they got their plates and bowls from Heath Ceramics, which is based in L.A. I don't know anything about ceramics, but I liked what I saw on the website and picked out a serving platter and large serving bowl in opaque white, as well as a London Plane cutting board. I placed the order online and noticed that the store was near my house, and that pick-up would save us shipping and let me see some nice ceramics in person. I got an email notification once the order arrived, and was given a two-week pick-up window. I was pleased to find the shop right next door to Urban Pet, even sharing a free parking lot (I picked up 50 pounds of dog food while I was there). The place was extremely attractive, well stocked with beautiful ceramics and other home goods. My order was ready to go, but I spent some time browsing the displays before one of the very nice staff members carried the box to my car. Matt B. and I have been considering buying new dishware, and there's a decent chance we'll copy Bret and FeiFei and get in on some Heath Ceramics.
